Think Cannon and Anderson are both full Internationals and I'd guess met the points criteria. Frey possibly too from European games. [Post edited 28 Jun 13:46]

Probably not. |

Because of our results in qualifying and in tournaments up to now I've largely had no major criticism of Southgate, but so far this tournament England have looked severely disjointed to me, worse than I remember. I can not believe we'll beat many sides left in the tournament unless he makes changes, like I suggested in a previous post or otherwise. As we are into the next round the best opportunity to try and practice the changes has got to be this evening. |

I think we need to change our style in this game as we are almost definitely qualified. The best teams are solid at the back, can play through the midfield with technically very good players, have pacy highly skilled wide men both sides and top strikers. Apart from LB we have these players in the Squad, but we look so disjointed. I'd really like him to let them play with the freedom to go out and put on a show in more like a 4 3 3 with our best ball players in midfield and wide men, so Wharton, Bellingham and Eze (or Foden, though Eze for me) at 6, 8 and 10 then Saka and Gordon wide each side with Kane or Watkins up front. But Southgate needs to unscrew the shackles a bit and somehow let them play at their best. If he can. [Post edited 24 Jun 13:22]

That was a good read. Certainly sounds like he's proud of what he's done at the Club and how his idea of how we should play is alligned with the best periods of our history. It sounds like he wants to stay longer and that for now it would take a very good offer from a big Club for him to move on. But then you never can tell. |

Well the Keeper may well not have moved if he thought that if he hit the bloke trying make the save he could have given away a pen and got a card. Whatever I thought the forward was clearly interfering with play and seemed to realise that himself when he wandered discretly away looking like he knew he'd f*kked up when the ball went in the goal. Opposite view taken on Norwegian TV by Åge Hareide the current Manager of Iceland, who made what i thought was the good point that he didn't know if the Keeper could have saved it or not. What was relevant was that the Dutch player"s position was so close to the Keeper he couldn't try to make the save without being likely to going through him. |

That's confirmed on the BBC now, and at reportedly £9 million they say. As he only made 15 first team appearances for Villa last season and most of them as a sub I reckon, such a fee must be partly based on his season with us. Won't hurt our possibilities of loaning young PL players with good potential. |

The Dutch forward was so close to the French Keeper he was clearly obstructing his ability to make the jump to his left to make a save. It was the correct and clear decision for me, but they didn't need to take such a long time about it. |

I'd like to see your 3 in a 4 3 3 though my blue white eyes say Eze for Foden who has not done too well in this tournament. I'd have 2 proper wide men each side of Kane in Saka and Gordon. So far there has been next to nothing threatening down our left side, until Eze came on late. We need Shaw at LB too. |

Another good game spoiled only by the poor picture quality for this being the Euro finals. Could hardly see the black shirted Albanians in the shady parts of the pitch and that included their 1st goal until they showed it in replay. |

Decent first 30 minutes or so but faded badly once Serbia got going. TAA didn't convince me in that midfield 2 and Foden was poor the whole game. I thought he should have brought Eze on for Foden in the centre of the attacking 3, moved Bellingham back into that midfield 2 from where he can still get forward as he did so well for his goal, and brought on Gordon to play left side of the 3. As others have said we we were weak left side the whole game. Going forward playing Bellingham in that 2 would give Southgate better possibilities to use the attacking midfield options that are the strength in his squad. |

Sounds like Sinclair needs a new agent. Have no evidence for this, but I think many find him an exciting player to watch and would guess that if he's expected to play a part of a game he gets a few more people at games and watching from wherever, to the Clubs benefit as well of course. I'll be delighted if he's with us this next season, but hope he signs a new contract. |

I never saw Colback hide, but he did often direct our midfield and was quite capable of the passing the ball out from defense. He'll need to stay fit and keep his aggression under control for another season. I'd love to see Hayden return but his passing out from the back wasn't so good and I think that was another reason we didn't play out from the back much after he came in. |

I think you can add Colback to the midfield players we have now who can play the ball on the ground through the middle of the park in the central 3 of a 4 3 3. In fact he's the best we have there now, perhaps the only one as I'm not convinced EDB is up to it yet at least. I'd include Andersen with Chair, Willock, and Smith as mainly used in a more attacking 3. I reckon Marti abandoned playing through the middle in January after our poor results in and around Christmas/NewYear, loaned out Dozzell, brought in Hayden and a bit later used Dunne at RB essentially abandoning playing out on the ground through a midfield 3 as you say. We'd need to bring in a good ball playing, quick and accurate central midfielder to play alongside the likes of Colback and Field in a central 3 for us to go 4 3 3 again. I see Hayden if we did bring him back as more of a Field type and more suited to the more pragmatic style we used with Dunne at RB. |

Yes, I've always thought that Eze is most effectively used as a 10 with freedom to roam across the width and depth of at least the attacking half, than as a winger based on the side line. |

I think some established regulars like Kane need game time minutes. |

I just read it's an ankle injury on Sky and other places. Nothing about how long he is likely to out other than for the tournament. Clarke saying he's irreplaceable! |
