I was sold for £13 a week to a printing works in Hayes for 5-year slavery (apprenticeship). Was only 5’10” and scored one goal for Harefield Rubber FC. I felt I was definitely worth £50 in todays transfer market. Who’s this Felix guy? Never worked a proper job in his life! |
 | Forum Reply | What would be 'success' this season with this squad/manager? at 12:30 7 Oct 2025
I would have bitten your hand off for a comfortable top half finish. Feels like we could possibly do a top 10 and build a bit further for next season now. Anything better is likely to be fraught with disappointment and anger or tearing apart of a team that almost made it and we start all over again. It’s all doom and gloom I tell yer! |

Good post from Simmo on all that we are doing well in our recruitment this season. The strategy has worked so far and we’re seeing the benefits so far too. It definitely feels we are better positioned to deal with our injuries this season with a strong bench available. Coach seems to be learning with every game, makes his mistakes (as do the players) but he seems on the right path so far. Good decisions made in developing the first team and development squad (will be interesting to see any breaking through). On the communications side, I’m not as upset as many. I remember when the only communications were a matchday programme, a copy of Kick Up the Rrrs from outside the Paddock turnstiles and The Evening Standard’. I just want an entertaining, winning team alongside a well run club - I don’t need loads of multiple comms channels to tell me if that’s happening - the table will do that. It’s looking rosy but I get the cautious optimism. We’ve all seen disaster happen too often. We’re not worthy of good things! 10th game due soon and will be time for JS’s school report |

Great day out and we always seem to manage to deliver! I honestly thought we wouldn’t make it through this one with anything but once again we fought our way through and won in ‘the library’ A real difference is our bench this year; we actually have options as you described Clive. If you’re not on your game JS is ready to replace you with someone who should/could give more and they have mostly. The run continues. Great support from the fans and a lively atmosphere (from us anyway). Bristol fans only woke up, briefly, after they scored. We deserved the win … we scored one more than them |

My first chance to see the improved Madsen yesterday. What a change. No wondering around aimlessly, asking for the ball, pushing the ball on quickly, always looking around to see where people were and you felt he just might do something with the ball when he got it (he should have had more of it from his teammates for me). What he is also doing is getting back, disrupting and putting in tackles, some of them tough ones. If this is the improving, confident Madsen we are getting this season I’m all for it. Well done Nico and the management team for getting him this far this season. More please, more more more. |

I would, if I was Nourry, expect De Souza to be watching on in awe at what us happening in team briefings, coaching sessions and talk in with JS to hone the ‘model’. Nobody works only between tight parallel lines it’s far too restricting and will lead to certain failure. You adapt and use the wins to tweak the model and build. The new players are brought in now, they were still selected on the ‘model’ just being played slightly differently. I also can’t help wondering if Hoos stepped in and suggested to CN that he retreat to his office after Coventry and let JS do his job his way. Whatever happened it’s worked and JS has got his squad moving in the right direction; and by no means fulfilling its total potential yet as we can be better. |
 | Forum Reply | COOK at 09:46 5 Oct 2025
Cookie was very good yesterday. He marshaled that back line and when distributing the ball at the back was solid. Hard not to let him keep his place at ‘wall. With Tonto, with three tough games in a week after the break I can see the back line swapping to ensure we have fit legs. I’d have Cookie retaining his place though first game out and there’s a good argument for him to play at Swansea. Both teams have scored a goal a game average, so clean sheets and we can take good points. Great to see Cookie back and playing strong. |

Two supporters side by side at a game will have different opinions; same on screen. It’s the joy and despair of football - we see different things and we have different views (you only have to read this forum to get that). Pluses and minuses to both. I’d rather the atmosphere and camaraderie of the live game from any stand with a good view. Entertain me, win the game (mostly) and I’ll have plenty to talk about. I just want to enjoy my team and my club. I’ll take what is available the week I’m able to. |

“ rubbing his groin … so came off “ - lucky he wasn’t arrested in a public place Seems like an unhappy end as a professional player; hard to see how he is ever going to get back to a suitable level of fitness for this league, or many others. Very sad for him to be honest as he is a player with plenty of ability and he’s clearly trying to get back. I have no idea whether he can be medically retired and he/we get any insurance compensation. But it feels like he needs to find an end to this misery and think about what he wants to do in this industry or outside if only for his own sanity. This just seems to be spiralling on downwards - I hope I’m wrong. |

Right - said Fred! I’ll be just happy if we encroach the top six ‘patch’ in this league. We have the opportunity, do this team and this manager have the couilles to get the job done? I think they just might! |

That’s partly down to a toothless, uncreative and ambitionless EFL. There’s so much to market about the Championship and they look for posh scraps. The ‘elite’ league however markets itself as fine dining with fine prices and everyone believes in ‘the emperors clothes’. EFL needs overhauling. We have a good product. Build it, market it and money would come in. It doesn’t need to be an EPL, just use all the attributes this league has and sell it. Then give the money to the clubs to build. The fans will love it. |
 | Forum Reply | Ronnie Edwards dropped from Saints Squad at 08:18 22 Sep 2025
Agree. Handsome Ronnie would be a sound replacement for Cookie who I’m sure won’t be here after this season. Half season loan with commitment to buy could make sense. He would provide good competition at the back and flexibility across the back line. Only issue I could see in Jan would be injuries elsewhere that demand a replacement for a strong season finish. |
 | Forum Reply | No threads about JS? at 08:10 22 Sep 2025
I find myself agreeing @cpgerber . I’m liking how JS is not making this about him (like many of our recent managers - MC included in that). He’s all about the players, the team and the club. Just quietly gets on with it. Impressed that he didn’t crumble after Cov, many would have panicked. He’s got these boys building some confidence while being realistic about our highs and lows. I hope he can keep it going. Will be an interesting 3-game week next week. SW looking up? Oxford getting first win! Bristol looking to bounce back? Nothing easy ahead, but we are building confidence, just keep grounded lads, keep putting in the hard work and listen to the gaffer. [Post edited 22 Sep 8:20]

What a beauty of a goal. One of the TV angles showed it magnificently. Any world player would be happy with that goal. Only sweeter it was a QPR player. Well done Harvey, a few more of those will be gracefully accepted! |
