When it comes to judging whether CN does a good job or not there is one thing you can guarantee … this is football and at some point you WILL fail. Chances are you very likely to lose your job and take the blame. Chances are you may even get compensation for your failure.

I hope before he fails he gets plenty of the good stuff done though.

Same goes for Julien too. Good luck mate (you do have more chance of compensation though to make the bitter pill sweeter)

A little tongue in cheek here, but if this is the ‘fair’ ethos of the club should we not also have a Monday morning parade of management, coaches and players on video apologising for their mistakes too. Corporate fairness and all that

That’s totally fair Clive. And as fans we completely expect it’s our right to hear it.

Sadly, I haven’t met many bosses in my travels who like to tell their inner team they made a mistake and most certainly not the thousands of employees in the wider companies. They might talk about a plan adjustment though

Football is so far removed from what it was when many here followed an entertainment and club fanatic approach to watching football. Now we have totally crazy monetary values thrown around and ridiculous fees and wages to control. It is, like it or not, now an entertainment business - with so much more emphasis than we would like on business.

In the non-football world we have all dealt with the same issues - equipment breaks down; bosses give us stupid implementations, make stupid statements and also take the tough decisions to be shot down. Sometimes we lose our best assets and have to recover; sometimes we suffer poor quality materials. It doesn’t mean any of the team involved are trying to set up to fail, it’s just dealing with problems. Nobody goes along without set-backs or challenges; nobody goes along without making a bad decision or two; nobody wants to fail at their job. All you want to do is have a plan and see yourself moving forwards towards it - even if that might not be at the pace you always wanted.

Most annoying is someone telling you a plan and then not showing they are following it, while expecting you to. You could put that analogy to the Les era (and I am a big fan of Les) telling us one thing and doing another - IF he allowed himself to say those things and he didn’t manage up/down to follow it, he has to take some heat for that (and I feel he was given a lot of fan leeway because he was revered by our fan base).

You may like or loathe Nourry but he has said what he means to do and is doing it - WITH the set-backs and challenges. He is, at least, making the decisions based on the plan. He also has tens of thousands ready to pounce on his every minute action. That’s the post he took up, so he knew what he was getting into. He made a decision when an important employee made it clear he was going to leave and protected the club while they found a replacement. He seems to be trying to put the building blocks in place to improve the team each year - hey, some decisions work, some don’t, every business, sorry club, deals with that.

I didn’t like the Plymouth team decision either but did laugh that those young boys were part of going 2-0 up. I feared they would wain in the second half and there was no depth to protect our lead. We lost. Decisions made. Criticism was bound to follow.

Tomorrow is another day. We will all look to see how our new team is coming together in this plan but there’s a way to go yet before we start tearing down the walls and trying to put heads on pikes.

To me, there really does seem to be a plan. Bringing in players to the first team squad to improve positions (LB pleeeease!). Bringing in DS players with real potential to actually break into the first team and excel (it’s been a long time coming!!). I definitely expect there to be some more poor decisions, I do want to see us slowly improve and not give up another plan (or not stick to it) as has happened before. Still love my club though and I’ll take the bumps along the way; I’m used to it. I’m looking forward to see how this season runs. Come on u Rrrrrs.

He’ll bang in his first goal.
We’ll create a Cornetto song about him.
The other strikers will wonder what the hell he’s up to!

What is interesting though is that we are not just picking players with pace and skill, they are also eager to get on the ball and use it.

Saw that too Bosh. Left foot, right foot and some headers too.
But will the deal make it to the dotted line?????
Not done ‘til he’s got the shirt on, waving the scarf and filling the scripted signing interview.

If Celar is the answer what's the question 🤔
at 08:01 11 Aug 2025

Question: Which QPR footballer has a game(s) to goal conversion of 11.5 games per goal (and 0 assists). Or equivalent of a goal every 472 minutes.
Clue: It’s not Nardi or Walsh.

Great constructive post Bob. The game gave us some positive changes and ongoing worries from the last few years. But you can’t fix everything on our budget. Main worry is our opponents, they’re not expected to stay in this league by May next year and we didn’t take the 3 pts we should have (so whichever way you look at it 2 pts dropped).

For all the stick Madsen & Celar get (and I’ve been in that kitchen party) they looked better than last season. That said, it’s a bloody low bar and still nowhere near enough from them. Also, Field getting a lot of stick. I seem to remember last season he was a really slow starter to the season, not sure why but definitely not something I expect of Sam. Still rather see him back in his old role. My big concern is our ongoing mental weakness at giving away a goal and dropping our heads and our performance - we take too long to pick back up, we have done it and recovered games, just weird we don’t believe in ourselves and get after it straight after.

Our passing out around the back gives me the jitters but we did look more like we had more of an idea how to use it - way more than last year with Martí. Agree with seeing Ilias being used in the middle more, can be seen to be effective with Dembele & Poku out wide; also a little rotation on the left.

Liked M&M at the back, feels like that’s a pairing that can develop well - time will make them better and better together; Mbengue has a cracking cross-field pass on him. Expecting to see Burrell start Tuesday so we can see what he can do - feels he has to be an upgrade on our striker position.

Esquerdinha Looked a positive, still young but showed he could be physical despite his frame and he definitely has some skills about him -looking forward to seeing him develop. I quite liked the look of Adamson, need to see more but he was an unexpected positive for me.

Happy to take the chinks of positive light. Wasn’t too sure about JS but feeling a tad more positive that he can coach these players. Just needs a little time to adjust to the Championship - it’s tough out there.

Knob End Match Fred

I thought it was a promising first half. We looked keen to press up and look forward.
But … amazing how our heads go down when we get a goal against us. Second half was poor and didn’t look like we would score.
Some promising cameos from players. Poku looked very good; Dembele worked hard and deserved to see the ball go in; Chair much better than last season.
I thought Mbengue looked strong and could pass a ball well.
A few youngsters didn’t do themselves any harm, Esquerdinha, Kolli and Adamson.
Shame about the result. Game just got worse as the minutes passed by. Ref didn’t help, some of his decisions were terrible.

Funny old league … Stoke top of the table!!!

Poku doing some good work down the right. He knows how to pick out a pass. A few of our strikers past and present will be feeling good seeing him with the ball at the edge of the box.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread

Have to agree Cate, the relentless drive for a “glass half empty” is strange (or maybe a sign of the modern times where bad news is the only good news - or some will defend it as realism) and we haven’t even played a handful of league games yet. Ahh well.

Just a couple of days to go and we will start to see the direction we are heading. Still hopeful of a couple of loans to plug our known gaps. Looking forward to seeing how our new signings grow into the team. Come on u Rrrrrrssss.

Thought I read that Eze’s release clause ends in next few weeks. Not sure how true that is. Could be why Arsenal waiting for right moment to make offer.
See the Parlases are looking for £40m for Geuhi after previous year offers of £60m+. Why they’re worrying about Eze structure deal is beyond me if they’re prepared to pi$$ up £20m+
