goodbye to another one of us, RIP Dad
at 07:34 16 Jul 2025

Condolences for your loss WB and of course family and friends. A true ‘hoops’ story.
Lovely piece about your Dad and all the good times you shared together and as a close family.
RIP Mr Reed

Marti to Leicester…maybe
at 09:05 10 Jul 2025

I hope Martí gets the gig he wants and it all works out for him.

As for Nourry … meh … he’s running our club better than many over the past years. People may not like is way of working, or him as a person, but he’s doing it his way and not a lot differently to many other organisations.

At the end of the day he will be measured by progress and a level of success; both from his bosses (who probably matter more to him personally), the staff/players and the fans.

I don’t get as deeply offended, or tunnel visioned, over him as many on here but it’s just my personal approach. Life is all people.

Good luck Martí. See you around

Agree with the theory, we just have to accept it’s not an overnight switch. Seems to me they are completely re-jigging the DS to move towards this model but it will take time to get there - you can’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

At least we don’t seem to be dumping our ‘projects’ each year and resurfacing with new ones. We seem to be sticking to this one. The cup win by the DS does help of course.

I’m more than happy to see us stick to this model for a few years more and see how it works out.

It’s far better than career apprentices playing footie every week drawing a fairly decent wage and achieving nothing as a pro footballer with all the club tries to provide for them.

Not much you can say that hasn’t already been said. Mr Jago was a humble, but firm, respectful and a gentleman. He left us a legacy to look after. Thank you Mr Jago. RIP.

A terribly sad loss and devastating to all around both young men. Sad for all the families and never more so than hose three young children. RIP DJ.
Thoughts especially with both families and all their extended family and friends.

I think the projection for the project is to project it at every opportunity as well as strong projection slide shows to enforce projected values and project aims.

It’ll work.

It’s one thing getting Edwards in - don’t think so, it’s a complete other affording his wages.
Not a chance unfortunately. And far too sexy for his shirt!

I’m with ‘the gang’ there’s good reason to be optimistic … to a degree. Some good signings have come in, for both the DS and first team squad, with our pace (lack of) partly addressed. We all know the LB needs sorting - just get someone in on loan this season and prioritise for a signing next season. If Colback goes we do need a gritty battler option in there - preferably with a view to pushing the ball forward (though I think JS will be more in that mould for us than MC was).

Our forwards need much better service, quality and quantity. Do that and I think we will see much more from them.

Looks better. Way to go for top 6, but progress is tough to come by in this league unless you’re a yo-yo club. Our approach seems to be to manage our FFP but still bring prospects in. Looks like a four year plan/project to me . Looking forward to seeing how it all comes off this season.

He looks to have bulked up so much he can’t do his trainers up!

He needs to re-sign and get himself firing for us.

Enjoyed a few sets so far … Jalen Ngonda was a good start; Wunderhorse were great (got to see their Glasto warm up and they didn’t let down); enjoyed The Blossoms set - slick as always; Loyle Carner, ever the strong wordsmith; Yussef Dayes was incredible, fabulous group of musicians too; Ezra were the crowd pleasers as they always are live (watched them over Green Tea Peng for Mrs SW so need to find GTP’s set now to watch); Gary Numan started of interesting and grew with the set I thought; Beth Gibbons was good too.
Ones I want to see… Wet Leg; Fat Fog; and Father John Misty
Ones I’m looking forward to today: Cymande; Black Uhuru; Goat; Black Country New Road; The Libertines. The Gurriers might have been nice but they are really early on.

Kolli and Lloyd have to behind Kelman as a choice next season. The guy is fit and confident after last season and he doesn’t exactly have a high bar to achieve better than our forwards from last season. He has a new manager to impress and no baggage to hold him back in the new regime.
You have to fancy seeing him with Michi just to see how it will work.
We need a new Kelman thread 😉

Looks a good introduction to the new back room team and a great background. Focus on the defensive coaching is key, making it happen through the age groups as well gives us continuity through to the first team.
Good appointment 👏

I think it’s easy to be sceptical, easy to find the attraction after the Martí story.
But, there’s a lot to look forward too. It seems from Clive’s very good article that there is a lot to be ‘intrigued’ about, a lot of interest to see how he uses this squad and what potential improvements are made to the squad for the season ahead.
It’s a glass half full moment for me, get in there Julien and do what you do best.
I like him saying he wants a well disciplined squad with a good team spirit - seems more of the same we’ve had on and off over the last 18 months, so building on that will be great - we all love a showy team spirit, makes the players feel closer to us too.
Will we win, will we be entertained, will we back him?
Will we be baffled, will we be disappointed, will we call for the king to be deposed?
Hell, I see a rollercoaster coming. All nerves before the start, some screaming and crazed excitement ahead of us - but will we want more as we get to the end?
It’s gonna be intriguing.
The king is dead. Long live the King (Julien)

Marti Officially Gone
at 22:30 24 Jun 2025

There’s no doubt in my mind it was disappointing to see MC left out in the cold and the way it all happened at the end. He was a breath of fresh air after some terrible times. He lorded over some good and some terrible performances but he was without doubt a fans favourite.

With all that said, we were still distinctly average with a few memorable performances thrown in to sweeten a bitter pill. We all knew there was never going to be a way back and for me I couldn’t find myself as in-love with Marti as many others have been as the weeks went by. It was a relationship that ended badly and the memories would always be there just as they always have been.
Nice sign-off too Martí. Thanks.

The next relationship is never going to be easy after that but the hope is always there and I have slowly gotten to the point where I am looking forward to the new guy coming in. Seeing what he’s like, if he ‘gets’ us and what he does with this team. Nice to be looking forward again (and no longer backwards trying to dissect every bit and piece - oh joy!!!). I hope this one works out and we have more happy days.

As for CN’s comments, come on he would never get it right. Say too little it was an insult, say too much and he’s lying and over the top. Done. Dusted. Move onwards.
