It’s no hassle for away fans these days at New Den

However visits to The Den were always dodgy in my experience

Grounds to visit next season.
at 20:56 27 May 2025

Same as me.Nick.

So no new grounds for me, but many more enjoyable away days for me next season

Preston was great place to stay last year, did it for game v them and Blackburn

Boro and Hull also good fun.

Ipswich and Norwich always good days out, hopefully this time Bristol City will be on Saturday, and wouldn’t mind Oxford on Boxing Day as few pubs near the ground and it’s miles from train station and no shuttle buses out from there to ground

Moan moan moan

I know Sports republics record in appointments is poor, but the blokes not even been appointed yet and all the experts on here already slagging him off

FFS if he’s appointed give the bloke a chance

Lawrie, Atkins and Martin all got stick when appointed all succeeded.

We could appoint Carlo Ancelotti and some people on here would still find fault.

Brighton and Bournemouth did well with managers unknown by most on here, so let’s wait and see

5 Things About Everton
at 07:43 20 May 2025

Stayed in Liverpool Saturday and Sunday nights, had a great weekend

Waited until 11 to go out to Walton Rd Spoons, which even though packed was still easy to get served.

Was amazed how many fans in that area and around the ground were obvious only there for the atmosphere and not going to the game, and the amount of empty beer bottles and cans made me think it was there and not Birmingham that had the bin strike.

As Nick said Everton fans in ground concentrated on celebrating the occasion rather than taking the p*ss out of the Saints fans.

Didn’t stay, it seems wisely, for post match celebrations, and after we managed to fight our way out of the ground, got back to Dale St by cab in record time, and watched tail end of events there on TV

All Everton fans we met very friendly all weekend and managed to meet up with a lady possibly an old acquaintance in Dispensary who we chased off the pitch at Highbury in 1984, but a much friendlier meeting 41 years on

Apart from game, where we only really played last 30mins, cracking weekend, as it usually is in Liverpool.

Southern team coming up to the Championship, then…..
at 21:29 15 May 2025

Yes it was Luton on Saturday then Orient the following Tuesday

We took 10k up to Luton out of 14,302, as many Luton fans went to watch local teams in FA Vase final that day

Then on following Tuesday took at least 12k up to Orient.

A few weeks earlier we had taken 8k up to Fulham for a Friday night game

Happy days

For play off Orient gave Stockport 1,250

When QPR played at Oxford they received 1,500 tickets

Charlton received 1,284 tickets for their away game at Wrexham

Charlton normally give 3,000 away tickets, but could reduce that to 2,000 if they wished to do so.

9 of those will be midweek when all games are televised, plus all last day of season games are too

And even though loads of our weekend games will be shown live at least if they follow this years policy we will get reasonable notice of times and dates off our games

“What has changed this season?

In line with the uplift in matches, weekends where all divisions and the Premier League are scheduled to play, 10 regular weekend games across the three divisions will be broadcast, including seven games at 12.30 pm on a Saturday. This will include up to five Sky Bet Championship matches and up to five matches across Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.

In a landmark commitment, the EFL and Sky committed to providing fans and clubs up to five months’ notice of TV selections, an increase from the five weeks' notice given across the majority of the 2023/24 season.

Within seven days of the EFL Fixture Release Day, all matches selected for broadcast for the period to the end of September were announced, and before a ball was kicked in August, all TV selections were confirmed for the period up to the FA Cup third round in early January 2025.

In November 2024, selections were made in respect of all matches played between the end of the third round proper of the FA Cup and the first weekend of March 2025.”

I in the EFL and Championship the maximum you have to give away fans is 2,000 tickets, which is what Leeds did to us for the game at Elland Rd, I think we did the same for West Brom in the play off.

“EFL Rules on away fans

34.2. 1 Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club's certified capacity, if less than 2,000.”

I can see us doing this for Pompey as we will only get 2,000 tickets for the game there.

Southampton V Manchester City The Verdict

Thought both Bree and Wellington who both played really well, and most of the time we were able to double up on who ever was taking them on with Fernandes helping Wellington and Dibling and even Sulemana helping Bree

Goodison Park Memories Thread
at 14:05 9 May 2025

I’ve been there numerous times since 1978 and only seen us win twice

For 78 visit, I sat in the upper tier of stand we are in season, as had been warned about standing anywhere in the ground, and Saints got 0-0 draw thanks to great goalkeeping from Terry Gennoe

The first win I saw was in 1992, just 2 days after the ZDS final at Wembley v Forest

Saints had over 30k at Wembley, but would say we had less than 100 in Park Lane upper seats to see Glenn Cockerill get the only goal in 1-0 win. Went up in Dennis’s coach

The old Park Lane terracing had to be the worse view I’ve ever experienced, with almost whole people section below pitch level, and only those stood on barrier at back able to get a decent view.

The only other win was 2023 when Prowsie had a great win and we won 2-1

In getting on for 50 years of seeing Saints home and away I think our record against Everton probably worse than any other team, I’ve certainly seen us win at Anfield, Old Trafford, Maine Road etc far more than at Goodison.

Congratulations to AFC Totton
at 17:42 6 May 2025

Congrats to Totton on promotion.

From my experience watching Salisbury play over 20 games at National League South level, it’s a big step up, with around 7 or 8 Full time teams and a few others Hybrid, with a mix of full and part time players.

But on the plus side most are teams well supported, and if you play Torquay on a Saturday they will bring 500 plus, they brought 300 to Salisbury on a Tuesday evening last season.
