I have absolutely no sympathy for him.

Anyone remember that?

Agree with this.
How on earth can any club have 5 managers in a year.

What that says very clearly is that our current method of identifying managers doesn't work. I assume its stats driven because everything is these days.
So if we use the same method again why will be get a different result.
I can only hope that if u go through enough managers we'll eventually get lucky.

As for the earlier post I think most championship teams would take Archer. We paid nearly 15 million for him. How many other teams spent that.
We know McCarthy is a good enough championship keeper. What we have is a team of good players, playing terribly.
Exactly why, I don't know. But a really good manager doesn't have this team in 20th place.

Yes they would.
But anyway my frustration is that I still think we have a team that should be in the top 3. We have more quality than pretty much anyone else.
The issue is Still cant get a performance out of them.
We were dogshit last year but we are massively underacheiving this season.

We've spent more money in this league than pretty much anyone. Can't fault the board for that.
Still has put us in 20th.
I don't know if we have to pay him millions but if not, id sack him tonight. Seems utterly clueless.
Why do managers insist on making changes that 99% of the fans disagree with? We're not total idiots.

Still is going to be under huge pressure now. Sienna was our best and most attacking player, and he takes him off.
Why do managers try and do 'clever' stuff. Stick to the basics.
He really doesn't help himself does he.

30 to get there and 35 to get back. For a total of 16 miles.

and fewer people are going out these days.
Saturday night I got an Uber from Totton, made one stop near Winchester Road on the way to a party at Southampton Muni golf club. It was no more than 7 miles. Same journey back at 11.30
It cost me 65 quid. How can that even make any sense.

For me the decline is around one thing. Recruitment.
In past years we found very good players from around Europe at reasonable fees. Most of which we had never heard of before they came here. Tadic, Mane, Schneiderlin, Svensson and even Van Dijk and Wanyama etc.
Some turned out to be top stars , some didn't.

Our recruitment over the last few years hasn't been anywhere near as good. It's not a surprise, no team can sustain that level of successful signings on a budget. I'm pretty sure that sooner or later Brighton and Bournemouth will suffer a similar fate.

Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict
at 12:37 20 Oct 2025

Completely agree with Nick.
I have no idea what Still is trying to do. His selections are baffling, and if they worked I'd say he knows more than we do. But it never works. Players come into the team that couldn't get on the bench, then play well and are benched again. We all know who the better performing players have been this season, get them in the team!

On a wider note, we just look so overcoached. And we have since the latter days of Ralph.
I'm a firm believer in a disciplined approach to defending etc but once you get in the opposition half the creativity needed cannot simply be coached. You have to let players do their thing.
Modern coaches seem to feel the need to interfere with this all the time. Hence you get midfielders hesitating to try a killer pass so they go sideways. Forwards lay the ball off or send it back the way it came for fear of being the one that gives it away.
We end up with great possession stats but no goals.
I'd rather see a player giving it away every time trying to play a pass designed to hurt the opposition, than watch us play sideways and backwards trying to probe for one perfect opportunity.

If anyone thinks that he's ended this war they're deluded. Israel has wanted the extinction of Palestine for years. Are we supposed to believe they are suddenly going to stop the bombing when they think they're winning and start playing nice.
I expect they want hostages back then it'll start again. There won't be any peace whilst Netanyahu is in charge.

I agree with a lot of these suggestions.
Went to Valetta this summer and it's fantastic. Beautiful and historic - although it was unbearably hot in the small streets.
Chicago is brilliant. Although I did indeed go in January and the wind comes across the lake and straight through the streets and it was brutal. Some amazinng live music bars though if you like blues or dance music.
Hamburg was great. Loads of live music

Southampton At Derby County The Verdict
at 13:51 6 Oct 2025

It appears Still has no idea what his best side is. Each week we "hope" that he finds a combination that suddenly wins 4 nil. When we don't he throws everything out the window and starts again.

For the life of me I can't work out what our identity or pattern of play is. Koeman and Pochettino had clear plans, even Ralph did for a while until near the end when he went mental.
The late lamented Russel Martin's teams clearly had some plan that they were following. Ok it was boring and didn't work but at least there was some hint that the players had been instructed.
Are we a pressing team, or a counter attacking time? I have no idea. I suspect neither does he, but if you rip up the teamsheet and start again every Monday I'm not sure you're going to find out.

Bournemouth are doing well as did for several years. Like Brighton.
But like us, they sell then they rely on finding nuggets that turn into the next stars.
I don't think there is a team that can sustain that model for more than 3 or 4 years.
Bournemouth sold 3 or 4 at the end of last season, more will leave this season. Sooner or later they will sink back down. Even if for no other reason than the big boys will cherry pick them.

but for some reason you just don't.

When I say "supposed to like", I mean I like the genre of music, I know people love their music, I should like them based on my other tastes but actually I can't bloody stand them.

Here's a few of mine..
David Bowie - never heard a track I actually like
Iggy Pop - supposed to be an icon but again I couldn't name a single track
Foo Fighters - I love guitar bands but I just don't get them
Eminem - I love plenty of rap and people worship this guy but I can't stand his whiny voice.

Who are yours?

Dibling isn't the finished article as we all know, so why would you think he'd walk into Evertons starting 11?
Also I don't blame him for going. I fail to see how a season in the championship will help him. We all know the PL is miles better and he'll train and learn from far superior players every day.
Finally he could get injured or lose form and the call from the PL might not come again. I'd have been off just like him. Can't blame the player for the way football works.

We will. And I hope we win every game and win the league.
But right now it's undeniable that we watch every game hoping for some sort of improvement or encouragement and there is none.

Not good enough
at 15:41 14 Sep 2025

Balls. Hes been here months and had loads of time with the players. There were a few new ones from the window but other than that hes had some to make some sort of impact.
We look exactly the same as last year. Laboured passing fearful of losing the ball and little movement up front.
He's also had 2 weeks to fire them up for a derby at home, and we got an opening 45 that looked like a pre-season friendly.
I don't think it's bed wetting to think that isn't good enough.
