Seems to be a touchy subject - but on my commute to Whiteley each day I notice people are tying uion jacks to bridges over the motorways. Also close to Redbridge roundabout there's a bridge with flags on stating "Southampton Patriots". I'm not entirely sure what the point is?
Loads of talk about var today following the weekend and last night's decisions. I don't know if the problem is var. Last night Carragher and Neville thought it was a pen. This morning Stelling and McCoist were convinced it wasn't. Football is subjective and most calls are a matter of opinion so there will never be total agreement.
Ex players always want ex players to operate var as they have 'played the game at the highest level' but they can't even agree amongst themselves.
Been injured forever but seems to have been fit end of last season. So hes had a full pre-season. He has a good track record in the championship yet hes stuck on the bench again. I genuinely expected him to be one of the first names on the sheet this season. I really hope that still happens.
But I've seen enough of the fat bald bloke doing his stupid dance. Once was enough and was mildly amusing. Now hes all over social media and the camera pans to him when we score. Loads of u will say hes just 'having fun' but it's just embarrassing
Am I the only one that doesn't really care about new kits? Social media is full of fans posting pics of themselves wearing the new yellow and blue away shirt, which looks very much like previous ones. I find it odd for grown men to get excited about this sort of thing.
Seeing Dibling at eastleigh made me think. How does the club allow him to play with no pads? Hes potentially a 30 million pound asset yet hes allowed to risk serious injury. Joey Barton said today that he would target him as he'd be easy to put out of the game. Barton is a thug but I expect other players will think the same. If I were the club I'd insist he protects himself. Players aren't allowed to ride motorbikes etc but hes risking a serious injury every time he steps on the pitch. Seems very odd to let him do it.
I see they are selling another player for 40 mill to Liverpool today. I guess it's good business if they can replace but they are finding out what happens in the PL when you are moderately successful..
Or not. What happened to the Saudi guy that was going to buy us or Millwall? For 2 days it was all over the news and message boards. Since then, total silence. Has he er 'disappeared'?
What have I missed? Is he still a player? We bought him back and he never plays. Martin rarely picked him despite some decent cameos. Juric picked him even less and now... Well now he doesn't even pick himself! Has he actually retired??
From a match report I just read... ' it was the usual story for Saints: plenty of possession, lots of pleasing moves, zero threat in front of goal. If they cannot manage a shot on target against one of the Premier League’s jumpiest defences, it is hard to see a route to survival for them.'
