Top 3 Hidden Gem Cities

I agree with a lot of these suggestions.
Went to Valetta this summer and it's fantastic. Beautiful and historic - although it was unbearably hot in the small streets.
Chicago is brilliant. Although I did indeed go in January and the wind comes across the lake and straight through the streets and it was brutal. Some amazinng live music bars though if you like blues or dance music.
Hamburg was great. Loads of live music

Southampton At Derby County The Verdict
at 13:51 6 Oct 2025

It appears Still has no idea what his best side is. Each week we "hope" that he finds a combination that suddenly wins 4 nil. When we don't he throws everything out the window and starts again.

For the life of me I can't work out what our identity or pattern of play is. Koeman and Pochettino had clear plans, even Ralph did for a while until near the end when he went mental.
The late lamented Russel Martin's teams clearly had some plan that they were following. Ok it was boring and didn't work but at least there was some hint that the players had been instructed.
Are we a pressing team, or a counter attacking time? I have no idea. I suspect neither does he, but if you rip up the teamsheet and start again every Monday I'm not sure you're going to find out.

AFC Bournemouth

Bournemouth are doing well as did for several years. Like Brighton.
But like us, they sell then they rely on finding nuggets that turn into the next stars.
I don't think there is a team that can sustain that model for more than 3 or 4 years.
Bournemouth sold 3 or 4 at the end of last season, more will leave this season. Sooner or later they will sink back down. Even if for no other reason than the big boys will cherry pick them.

Bands or artists you are supposed to like.....

but for some reason you just don't.

When I say "supposed to like", I mean I like the genre of music, I know people love their music, I should like them based on my other tastes but actually I can't bloody stand them.

Here's a few of mine..
David Bowie - never heard a track I actually like
Iggy Pop - supposed to be an icon but again I couldn't name a single track
Foo Fighters - I love guitar bands but I just don't get them
Eminem - I love plenty of rap and people worship this guy but I can't stand his whiny voice.

Who are yours?

Dibling isn't the finished article as we all know, so why would you think he'd walk into Evertons starting 11?
Also I don't blame him for going. I fail to see how a season in the championship will help him. We all know the PL is miles better and he'll train and learn from far superior players every day.
Finally he could get injured or lose form and the call from the PL might not come again. I'd have been off just like him. Can't blame the player for the way football works.

We will. And I hope we win every game and win the league.
But right now it's undeniable that we watch every game hoping for some sort of improvement or encouragement and there is none.

Balls. Hes been here months and had loads of time with the players. There were a few new ones from the window but other than that hes had some to make some sort of impact.
We look exactly the same as last year. Laboured passing fearful of losing the ball and little movement up front.
He's also had 2 weeks to fire them up for a derby at home, and we got an opening 45 that looked like a pre-season friendly.
I don't think it's bed wetting to think that isn't good enough.

How Confident Are You About Pompey Game
at 14:08 9 Sep 2025

Wow there's a lot of hand wringing in this thread.

We are better than them.
We've been playing at a higher level for a long time so the fact they won L1 is irrelevant.
We have spent decent money on what looks like very capable attacking players.
Why is everyone so nervous. Pompey will be mid table at best. We need to win games at home against bottom half clubs if we want to challenge.

So we have better players and home advantage. If we match their effort then we should win the game by one or two.
There's a lot riding on this for Still. Win and he will be a hero but lose and his record won't be looking too clever. He has the players now so no excuse, get out there and put them to the sword.

Agreed. Before we decide strikers are no good we have to examine if they are getting service. If they miss their chances then they probably aren't up to it. If they aren't getting any chances then maybe there's a different problem.

I think all our strikers should get a clean slate from now on. We have more attack minded midfielders and wingers now so let's see what happens.

OK I’m going to say it……

Defeat at home to Pompey, with what many regard as the strongest squad in the division? Er I think not!
We have more than enough to beat them by 2 or 3.
Match their running and effort and our extra quality should tell. I am pretty confident we'll win this one. I'd certainly be more worried if I was them.

That said Still needs to win. We haven't seen much from his team so far so they had better show up this time.

Players out of contract.
at 08:32 3 Sep 2025

Saw this today. Interesting read about those players desperately hoping to get a club. The less glamorous side of football.
Odd to see some of the names on the list such as Angus Gunn. I didn't realise he'd been released and spent the summer looking a home and playing at this PFA camp to keep fit. .

Getting relegated demands a complete overhaul of your players which we did. Then we got promoted so we needed to change personnel again, and then got relegated so we have done it for a third time.
You have to cut your cloth to suit and I think this time we've done that. But if we get promoted I expected more musical chairs...

Did we sign Leo Scienza ?.
at 09:58 2 Sep 2025

We are a second tier club so we aren't buying top level players. I'm sure Scienza has some flaws. If he had pace, could shoot with both feet, do a job defensively and bang in every free kick he sure as hell wouldn't be within our budget.
He doesn't have to be brilliant, he just has to be good enough for the championship.

My worry is that under Still, I have yet to see us put in a full 90 minutes of decent football. We manage the odd period in a game but considering we are supposed to be one of the strongest sides it's worrying.
And I include pre season friendlies.
I hope we see a big change once the new players bed in, but so far I have not seen any positive influence from Still. Same old mistakes and issues.

I see Bamford has come to an agreement with Leeds and is leaving. I don't know if hes fit, but if he is would we take him? No fee and decent target man.
Or is he just a taller Danny Ings?
