That's sad news. I remember him well. I always thought he was a decent ref. |

Just seen your thread 😳 . Isn't it strange that "failed" managers only seem to fail under Sport Republic, but otherwise get jobs elsewhere and generally do well. You would think some of the perceptive analysts around us would think "I wonder if it's the managers themselves or those above them putting terrible, cheap, inexperienced players on the pitch." We can watch those clubs with interest and see if they really are terrible managers or is it just when they are at Saints. Just ask Nathan Jones, Selles, Ralph, who went on to do well. They certainly did. 2 dead and many injuries. Too much alcohol and other substances I would imagine. |

Cruising is not for everybody, but I have grown to really enjoy it. It's the only way to visit so many places, so many countries that you wouldn't normally be able to do. I went round the Greek islands, it was fantastic visiting Santorini, Kefalonia. Athens, Crete all in one holiday. On the ship, there's shows, a cinema, table tennis, a games room, numerous bars, restaurants, swimming, a library and so much more. Some areas of the ship are hectic and busy but there are always quiet areas of the ship, if you need to chill. Drinking cocktails and beer looking out at the sea is quite an experience. Sailing into places with incredible scenery is also wonderful. There is plenty of food 24 hours a day. There are few downsides. If you want to see a place, the ship isn't there long, so you have to be up early to see the place. But ofcourse you don't have to get off the ship. You have to pay for WiFi usually. Paying for a drinks package is an added cost and the pools are very busy if you are somewhere hot. I would love to do Norway next. [Post edited 28 May 12:38]

Should be a very interesting place to visit. What's Wanyama doing these days? I would love to visit India, and visit the Taj Mahal. But the family worry about access to British style food and seeing poverty. I personally would love to go there. I assume Kenya also has its fair share of poverty that you might witness. Greece. Beautiful place. |

It was an excellent atmosphere. A world away from the tourists at Tottenham, sitting in their padded seats. |

It's so well organised by the police, that it's very safe. If you go by coach, it drives into a compound, protected by lines of police. When I went last time, there were police everywhere. It's tense though. At St Mary's, the Millwall fans were a disgrace over the bridge, drugged up fans throwing bottles amd attacking the home fans. This won't happen this season, as they are over in the corner. [Post edited 27 May 21:54]

Me too. Definitely looking forward to visiting these championship grounds more than the PL. Preston the 2 2 was an evening game, so couldn't make that one last time, want to do that. Norwich and Ipswich are treks but enjoyable away days. Swansea is another one I want to do. |

Let's use the Nathan Jones experiment as an example. He's clearly a good manager at Championship manager and below. He did a superb job with Luton in the Championship and he has just promoted Charlton from league one, a club that has been stuck in that league for years. So what went wrong at Saints? He was completely out of his depth? Why? Because he had no experience whatsoever of a fierce, pressurised relegation battle in the PL. He had no experience of dealing with PL players. He was swallowed up by the pressure, and couldnt handle the job. That wasnt a surprise. He had no experience of it. It was a ridiculous appointment, simply because it needed a calm experienced head at the time, not an experiment. The Will Still appointment is a risk because he lacks experience in the league we want to promoted from. There will be intense pressure on him, to ensure we are at the top. NJ had a lot going for him when he was appointed - enthusiastic, young, a motivator etc. But he couldnt handle the pressure. Experience teaches you that. I hope my doubts are unfounded and he does a brilliant job, I really do. [Post edited 27 May 14:03]

We will just have to wait and see. He seems like a sensible guy, although slightly nervous and softly spoken. Young managers, like young players are rusty, sometimes naive, and I fear this could cost us in an unforgiving championship. I do have my doubts. Playing in a physical Championship in Stoke on a cold Tuesday night is probably different to playing in France in their top division but I hope those doubts are put to bed early on. You mention Poch, he wasn't totally unknown, he was previously an Argentinian international who played in the world Cup. You just knew he knew how to win games from his playing career, a manager you listen to straight away, having played numerous times for one of the best national sides in the world. Will the players listen to a manager that has never played the game to a high level? Jose M is the example of a manager who never played to a high level, but WS doesn't have the arrogance and confidence that a young JM had! I like how Still has spoken about a high press, winning games, high energy. Sounds good. The Brighton manager and the Sunderland manager are examples of young unknown coaches who have done well, so fingers crossed, but this is a big gamble in my opinion. [Post edited 27 May 11:08]

Wrexham will probably be a very different experience next season than 1979. I've never been to Wrexham or Oxford, but just to have their fans visit St Mary's will be a new experience for most. I've been to most other stadiums in the championship but not very often, making it a little bit more interesting than visiting Selhurst or Villa Park for the 25th time. I have only ever been to Coventry's new stadium once about 15 years ago, so looking forward to that too. The last time I went to Middlesbrough was Harry's year when we won 3 1 and Crouch scored. Last time I went to Derby was when we lost 4 nil. Only been to Hull once. [Post edited 26 May 22:06]
