In every game, regardless of the XI on the pitch there are promising signs of what this squad, under Sheehan's guidance can be capable of. As he demonstrated during his period as caretaker, AS picks a side that he feels can do a job against any given opponent, I don't think he is one to have a first XI, come hell or high water. Consistency in producing the high intensity, fast paced, flowing attacking football, is what is lacking, hopefully it will come over time. The question is, how much time will he get. There's already growing noise from certain elements, mainly stoked by those who were dead against him getting the job in the first place. I think the run of games between the October and November international breaks could be critical, although personally, I think he has to be given until the midway point of the season, to show what he is capable of. |
