Also loved the fact we had some top ex Englnad players in our team late 80's / early 90's. Trevor Francis, Kenny Sansom, Ray Wilkins, and even Peter Reid ffs!

Oh, and Steve Hodge!

Not forgetting Fenwick and Parker who were internationals and played in the '86 & '90 World Cup respectively whilst still playing for us!

And Sints in Euro '92!

That's because he was short and round and bounced on the ground.

We signed Barker in '88. Quite a few years before they came into money.

Really rate him. Even from the beginning I thought there was something there and wasn't as bad as what some fans made him out to be. I'm really pleased for him that it seems to have really turned around for him now and the fans can see what a really good player he could be for us. Keep going Mads.

PS. Absolutely loved his reaction at the FT whistle on Saturday.

I would say he'd choose live comms at QPR as opposed to Sky Sports Red Button comms whilst watching TV hands down.

But I'm being biased.

I honestly don't think he sees commentating for QPR (plus all the other media bits he does) as "just a job", but has a genuine connection to the club , the players and the fans now.

Would SImon Barker come under this catagory? Probably not.

I just remember that I never really rated him when I was a teenager (maybe cos there were so many "better" players around him most of the time). But it was only towards the end of his Rangers career (and I was a bit older/maturer!) that I realised he was actually a bloody good player for us. Chipped in with his fair share of goals (a few headers in there too!), and was a bloody good servant for the club. Honorable mentions for superb his goals v Sheff Weds (A), Everton (H) and Liverpool (H).

I think he's been brilliant since the very beginning. Whether it be with Sints, Cookie, or flying solo - he's excellent at what he does! And I genuinely think he's become an 'R' now, one of us! (The poor lad!)

Not sure how Luton went spectacularly against the status quo last season then.

I agree it is still very early. Another observation hi-lighting the amount of draws is that currently 22 teams out of the 24 have only 3 wins or less so far to there name. That "should" change by this evening. But still it's very low after most teams have played 8 games so far.

So far it looks like anyone could beat anyone (or draw with anyone) as most teams appear to be pretty evenly matched. Would make for a brilliant season if it stayed that way.

Get your point but don't necessarily agree.

If Cook had been released then we would've had more money in the kitty to sign Edwards maybe?

Just looking at the league table and the last few rounds of matches...

Round 8. 8 games (so far) last night - 6 draws. 4 more games tonight and can easily see another couple of draws.

Round 6. 6 draws.

Round 5. 7 draws.

We currently sit 10th, but could jump to joint 2nd with a win tonight (2 other results permitting).

Only Middlesboro are running at more than 2pts per game, and they've drawn 3 of there last 4 matches.

Obviously still early days. And maybe in recent years we're usually looking at ourselves way down the table at this stage to notice what's happening at the top end. But it does seem (to me anyway) a potentially very tight season ahead with no teams really standing out (as yet!).

EDIT: Also just noticed that Leicester have drawn there last 4 matches!
