Could happen but would be a brave board to back him if they end up around where they are now. We heard a lot about how he wanted to play sexy football but had to be pragmatic because of what he had to work with. Harder to use that excuse there and only so much he’ll realistically fix in the next window if he makes it that far at all.
I think it was fair to stop it. Arguably slightly early but certainly not by much. Parker was giving very little back and took some heavy shots that round and earlier.
Great fight overall. Wardley would have to improve hugely on his weaknesses to step up further and pretty certain he’d be embarrassed by Usyk but he’s got some great options now. A nice story. Not old for a heavyweight. I’d like to see him against Dubois but Usyk has to fight someone so it’ll presumably be Wardley.
Always rated him. If referees are going to allow themselves to be bullied they will be. If we hadn’t been soft as sht all day we could’ve perhaps taken advantage of that.
Went to a big Harvester type thing last season (perhaps even a Harvester) which was more than ok and close to the ground. Outside bar, mixed but friendly, easy walk from station and to the ground.
Last night’s results emphasise what a car crash this division is. I don’t think anyone bar maybe Coventry is actually any good. Nice to see Norwich struggling.
Cocoa prices did go up an awful lot from 2023-24 as a result of a poor harvest as they say. They’ve fallen a lot over the last six months not to the consistently low levels they were but to about the point they were when they started to really spike. The big chocolate companies were still doing reasonably and the really big ones nowadays are in all sorts of other categories (Cadbury owned by Mondelez, Mars do pet food and all sorts, Nestle coffee and various other things).
I’ve seen the fake chocolate in its various prototypes in recent years from the suppliers to the chocolate companies and it’s been worked on for quite a few years, before cocoa prices really went nuts. Obviously if cocoa prices collapse you aren’t going to see a hugediscount on the shelves and they aren’t going to start using a more expensive recipe for your Club bars or whatever.
Plus there are various factors beyond cocoa- wages, profit expectations from retailers etc. but the big conglomerates that own most of the bars you eat will take the piss where they can.
Handball not given to Liverpool yesterday (correctly IMO) was remarkably similar to the one they were given in injury time at 0-0 at Burnley. The rule could be interpreted to justify giving both or neither.
One rule change I would like to see is more indirect free kicks for minor infringements inside the area. A penalty feels far too harsh for clearly not deliberate handballs.
From the lack of defending by Cook and the reaction after I’m thinking Nardi has made an ill-judged call for it then changed his mind. I want my centre-back taking charge and just heading the thing away. Plenty of blame to share around starting from Mitchell having three business days to get his head up and play it over the top.
Think most refs would’ve given them more cards first half. Don’t recall thinking we were getting the rub of the green particularly other than Madsen possibly being booked for a trip early on but he more than balanced that out. Was like he was wary of giving us too many free kicks / cards to them and just wanted to shut them up for a bit by playing on.
I need to go and re-read the offside law when it comes to defenders making a deliberate play for the ball and it going to an attacker. Honestly it’s changed enough times I can’t remember if some of those calls were right or wrong.
A classic Nardi performance in a way. That first half save was as good as you’ll see anywhere. Smallbone has taken it early and hit it perfectly. I’d given up on it behind the goal. I don’t know what his communication is like but we’ll always be vulnerable to sloppy goals when he has such a dire command of his box.
