Rather have him drifting out of games than into them to mess up five yard passes. We all know Smyth’s weaknesses but away from home you’d think he’d be the better fit today. Prove me wrong second half Kaddy.
Another vote for Soccernomics. Also read the cricket version which is nearly as good. Not so much about analytics in the sense you might mean (xG and the like) but excellent reads.
Based on the last few visits I would have them as one of the least baying crowds in the division but fair point. The bloke on Wednesday wasn’t exactly a homer.
Infoman was always one of the more practical but less glamorous superheroes. He’ll appear out of nowhere to advise on the cheapest way to book trains to Stoke or remind you of your anniversary next week.
He’s going to get the odd game at the very least but even if that’s all it is I wouldn’t say he’s learning nothing and he clearly has a lot to learn. It’s a massive change for him and unrealistic that he could just slot in as first choice from day one. He probably wasn’t first choice anyway until Larkeche’s injury and has played some part in five league games out of eight.
A small negative of playing a team of toddlers in the League Cup is you burn opportunities to blood guys like him who are close to being ready to play regularly but not quite there.
Research & Development is easier to remember and spell than Rhys Norrington-Davies. Can never remember whether the various Davies/Davis have the pesky ‘e’.
Anyway good player. Being in NL you get half a game each time to see the left-back more than anyone else and I think he’s a major upgrade on Paal defensively. A solid bloke. I like a full-back you’d trust to kick his gran to stop a goal.
Had a bit of a mad last 20 minutes where he suddenly got a bit officious after being quite relaxed before but thought he was mostly fine with what looked like a few errors but nothing out the ordinary IMO.
Didn’t book Dembele early on when he definitely should have. The one where the the defender slips and he calls a foul on Smyth looked a bit of a clanger at the time but it’s not like Smyth would’ve done anything with it.
Dembele is a very odd player. Never really been a fan but he showed great strength for that goal against Preston then mostly plays like today where a small child could brush him off the ball. Feel with the team selected it was a big opportunity for him to be the key player when we had the ball and he did next to nothing.
The team selection was very odd and it’s two points burned again but one to forget and accept the manager still has to get to know what some of these guys are about
Parked in the cricket club last time and was very pleasant before and after. Even the bar for away fans just outside the away end is fine. Never any aggro unlike the fun of the 2-2 draw there 20 years or so ago.
One of those annoying weekends where friends rudely get married during the football season so not for me this time.
