Success breeds success. If we're challenging for the play-offs every season, our players are seen as successful and more likely to attract offers. Conversely, if we continue the pattern of the last decade, our players aren't as attractive because they're not pulling up any trees. Obviously there are exceptional talents like Eze but you think of someone like Chair who has been a great player for us but arguably never got a big transfer because the teams he's played in were so average. Conversely, you'd imagine Premier League clubs will be looking at Coventry players if they keep up their form. I think the standard of players we've signed has definitely improved recently but we need them to perform in a successful team to really reap the rewards. |

I am surprised that the likes of Esquerdinha, Morgan and Kolli aren't getting more game time if we are supposedly knackered. Kolli wasn't even in the squad yesterday even though Frey has looked desperately off the pace this season. Stephan is a C/C- so far for me. Started badly, recovered well but is making some odd calls. Well, according to Clive, part of the reason Stephan got the job was how he'd cope with three-game weeks... [Post edited 25 Oct 19:04]

Feel sorry for him but surely JCS will end up retiring pretty soon. You just cannot be a professional footballer when your body is so sensitive to any impact. In theory he should be less susceptible at a younger age so God only knows what he'd be like after 30. I am actually amazed he made it in the game tbh and he deserves credit for doing that. |

I always liked Madsen (check the receipts) as he's my kind of player and I always thought there was something there, so great to see his improvement this season. Celar looked like the wrong player for the way we play - he didn't move very much and seemed to be a player who'd hang around the penalty spot waiting for a pass. Burrell is such a different beast and we all see the results. |

The archetypal QPR player and you can absolutely see why the Scum offloaded him because a player like that was never going to prosper for late 80s Morlocks. Similarly gutted like Disco when he was sold; I suppose you could argue that Gerry was right as we finished fifth the following season...though maybe he could have been our x factor in doing even better. |

Exceptional manager for starters. |

Yep, that pretty much summed the ref up. |
 | Forum Reply | Madsen and Varane at 07:29 19 Oct 2025
Varane is a strange one as he has the tools to dominate matches but then plays like he did yesterday. Is he being told to turn back every time he gets the ball? I'd love to see him playing with his head up and looking forward when he gets the ball in a non-dangerous position. It's fair comment to mention Field who is out in the cold now and certainly couldn't have done less than Varane yesterday. |

Oh, he's done a good job for us for sure. This season though he looks a tad rusty, wouldn't you say? Maybe it's just that we're spoiled now with forwards. |

As well as the first goal (which he clears if he's a keeper who comes out) there was another cross in the first half that he just stood on his line for. I like him and he has been a decent keeper for us but it's probably time to move on. He is not going to change now. |

Harsh on RND as he has been much better than expected. However, he doesn't seem to have a cross in him, which is problematic, particularly if Dunne is the other full back. No point playing a lump like Frey up top if he's not getting decent crosses and is chasing hopeful through balls like today. We obviously looked much better with Burrell doing that. |

Play your best team at home, particularly against a tough side like Millwall. I hope Stephan is learning because he did the same against Oxford. I've always liked Nardi but he's a liability with his reluctance to come off his line. Frey should never start with Kone. God knows how he lasted as long as he did. Varane needs to be told that he can play it forward. The second goal killed us. Just brain-dead defending, particularly at the end of the half. |
