It was the week we played Oldham and lost. Benali scored a brilliant own goal. I dont remember a friendly against a French team around there, but we did ANNIHILATE Gothenburg in a friendly at The Dell around that time

I think the ticket prices were probably about right (well, what somehow seems to be accepted as right nowadays), but the dynamic pricing was wrong. They could and should have stopped this.

I went to that one as someone got us tickets for a wedding present. It was quite the day in London but the approach up Wembley Way was pretty nasty, with every step taken being on broken glass and football firms from all over threatening each other. Happy Mondays were a bit rubbish but Oasis were great. Saw them a few times and I was at their last gig at Wembley in 2009 as I couldn't sell my tickets. Kasabian blew them off stage that night and it was obvious Oasis couldn't be arsed

Pat, you'll be fine for Edinburgh. They will play all their booked gigs as it will cost them too much not to. The Scottish gigs will be great. Both Oasis and The Roses always had huge Scottish followings. I wish I had got a ticket now, and suppose I still could if I pay a lot

Regarding the merch prices, it is the way it works now. Bands dont make money through records so the merch and ticket proces are ramped up. My mate took his daughter to see Olivia Rodrigo the other week and a hoodie there was £140 apparently

1. First record you bought with your own money? The Jam-Going Underground
2. First gig you went to that you paid for? Howard Jones, Henry Beaufort School Winchester, 1985 (50p!)
3. Best gig ever? No idea, for the occasion and the people I was with, The Stone Roses reunion, but Ian Brown can't be the singer at the best gig!
4. Have you ever left a gig because the artist/band was not up to it? Left Oasis early in 2009 at Wembley as couldnt be arsed fighting the crowds and they weren't all that at the time
5. Present favourite band/song. The Beatles 🙂 (of people who release music now, Michael Head, Paul Heaton or Half Man Half Biscuit)
6. I would never go to see XXX because? Any live music has merits, but I have never been able to appreciate hip hop/rap

The good/deserved ones still happen, but you wont see them other than in local news, or if there is a particular feel good story. My bro in law got one for helping the Navy out of a tight spot (he won't say what, but I think it would have been embarrassing for the Navy, rather than any sort of defence scandal), and a girl I worked with got one for setting up a Dance Academy in Winch that turned the lives around of some kids who were going down a different path. The MP here at the time tried to piggy on the back of that, and was told that if he didn't leave alone, she wouldn't accept it (she wasnt comfortable anyway)

The Beckham one seems to be particularly odd, seeing as he seems to have spent the last few years just trying to get a knighthood. I wonder if he'll bother with it all now?

Some of my mates tried to get me one when we spent a few weeks working at a company with not much to do. We wrote to various Royals and MPs just seeing how they'd respond. We sent a £5 Argos Voucher when William and Kate got married and got a lovely response, but the Queen returned our £3 Elizabeth Duke voucher. Eric Pickles turned down their nomination for me to have an MBE for turning up for work even though it was pointless.

Yeh, my Grandad was stationed there after the war, so my mum went to the Naval school there. My eldest lad was originally going there on his current world tour on the PoW, but that has changed to Gibralter now I think

Cheers matey. I can't be doing with having to dress up for dinner etc, but I have promised I'll do it one night. And I can't be doing with small talk about cars or mortgages if I have to share a table with someone. But I am looking forward to it!

I really should go to Malta. Fantastic WWII history where the island as a whole faced unbelievable pressure to survive before a ship eventually got through. My mum grew up there so I will get there one day.

That's what I'm doing. It's our 25th wedding anniversary and the wife used to work on cruise ships so wants to go as a passenger. I chose Norway as the thought of sitting on my balcony watching us pass the fjords with a whisky appeals to me, but I'm not sure the whole cruise experience does

Shocking Incident In Liverpool

On the plus side, ignoring the vermin who did this, the locals are arranging lifts for people, offering rooms and helping towards hotels for people who have become stranded because of what has happened. Good on them.

I'll miss Lineker. I think he has done a great job presenting MOTD and seems a decent fella. His 3 replacements are good as well. I won't miss Micah Richards' screeching if he leaves though.

I've never thought the Prem was corrupt, I think it has been more a case of the officials just not being that good, but it's hard to keep arguing that. They'd help themselves more if they admitted mistakes

5 Things About Everton
at 11:41 20 May 2025

1. The crowd singing There She Goes before the game was fantastic. And that Spirit of the Blues song is really catchy. Oh, and that young girl playing Z Cars in the violin. Wow.

2. Town after was ace as well. Really good atmosphere in all the pubs. Great to spend some time with Solent Toffee

3. Felt a bit for Aaron Ramsdale. He came over to applaud us and everyone just clapped Charlie Alcaraz. I'm sure he knew it ws nothing personal

4. Pat Nevin took the time out to applaud all the Saints fans when walking round. Top man. Adrian Heath and John Bailey didn't. Understandable.

5. I don't blame the Scouse Liverpool fans, but the accents in the pubs afterwards were 99% local, or Wool at least. Liverpool will never have that again. Also, well done Saints fans for not squinnying or grassing on the few Everton fans in our bit
