Tyler comms day at Bristol City
at 21:52 5 Oct 2025

He's getting better and better, first game without Sints he struggled a little bit having to fill more space but was very good yesterday to the point it was much less noticeable there was no co-commentator, interviews are improving as well. Expect to hear him on Sky or MOTD within a couple of years. Amazing really considering his age

Delighted for him, imagine its cost us a few quid though as that surely would have been one of the add ons

COOK
at 11:10 5 Oct 2025

I felt he was on the decline last year even before the injury and that looked to be continuing this season. But the last two games has been the Cook of 23/24 and he has been excellent. We've seen in the past that veteran centre backs can go on and be key players right into their late 30's usually the grisly stopper types, but we have also seen how those that really on their pace like Rio can fall off a cliff. If the game is moving again to be more direct and they can manage the good there is plenty of life in the old dog yet

He's a wide forward in a 4-3-3 needs the right club and to drop down to find his potential

Great result that in the end, much better once the subs came on. Thought Morrison had his worst game for us but Steve Cook of old was alongside him to bail him out.

I really like Esquerdinha I think we have a live one there, prone to the odd mistake but at 19 I think he is going to the top (who had thunk it we would look so strong at LB at the start of the season)

Madsen is starting to boss the midfield in spells my MOTM today, What we did much better 2nd half was get Kone into dangerous positions where he can effect the game.

Dembele disappointing again, I think he's an impact sub and no more at this moment in time

Hunters right we've been worked out, and when teams sit in defensively the lack of 10 to play through the middle means we just can't progress very well.

All well and good on the break and the problem is when we do get in we dont seem to know what to do with it. If we are going to play 2 up top then we need to sling more crosses in

I'd have Smyth on for Dembele, then Kolli on for the last 30 in 10 role

would saito, madsen and burrell.

I like Frey, but I thought he was very poor, and it had a negative impact on Kone. Of the changes only Cook was decent. Dembele was very poor again, and Field and Hayden does not work unless we are defending a lead.

Dont know if Kolli was injured but would have been a better option to have than having 3 defensive midfielders in the squad.

I hope lessons are learnt Oxford were able to play a super high line until the subs.

Get the need to rest players just thought it was the wrong combination of players.

Should have been Frey for Kone (Burrell only played 45 mins) Morgan for Madsen (If Madsen needed a rest) Cook for Mbengue Smyth for Saito not Dembele who cant play on the left

Similar for me row Z in Ellerslie, you see a very different game than even being close at the sides and certainly behind the goal

Kind of got it, Wednesday were playing a low block 5 across the back with Bannon dropping in really deep as well, there was just no space behind to run into especially after the goal. Unfortunately Frey was so awful failing to win anything in the air, he and Kone seem to get in each others way. In many ways it would have been better to have Kolli on the bench and coming on for how that game progressed as we needed to pass and move through them or the wide players needed to put crosses in rather than cutting in every time

I think you have to give credit to the opposition they nullified us and none of the subs bar Hayden did much to press their claim for a starting berth

Stodge that game. Norrington Davies probably pips Madsen to MOTM. My god Frey was awful that sub killed us in the end. I guess one of M'bengue's non sending offs levelled up there because Bannon has to go for 2nd yellow, was just waiting for the scrote to assist or score one of his worldies

Struggling against a team sitting in with 5 across the back and Bannon playing quarterback, lack of intensity and we are playing too slow.

Dunne getting ripped to shreds down the right and we look far from secure at the back.

God knows what Nardi was doing not even the best keepers in the world with command of their box would be collecting on the corner of the six yard box with a whipped in away swinger.

Need to move the ball quicker I think a case for swapping Burrel and Kone's positions as well and probably look to get Smyth on the right as the game is passing Vale by

Bircham isn’t happy

Football (and sport in general) is the entertainment business they score a goal they celebrate, we celebrate. They win a game they celebrate we celebrate, that's is what we go for, it's entertaining the crowd. A lot of players may not have liked having a mascot in the past, or playing music when a goal went in. Not quite sure what he is saying here, what they clap politely head of down the tunnels and we head off down the exit.

Suspect Will Still may be gone shortly and then that means a new manager and he may come back into favour. However something seems very rotten there

What a great day,

I thought Dunne had his best game so far this season. It's clear that the hip injury has been an issue to his slow start. I think Sam Field also has a tendency to start slow, he is a player who needs to be at peak fitness and has suffered each year with training method and then become indispensable come November. Mbengue will suspended within a week would not be too surprised to see Field come in at LCB at some point

We've not had a midweek game for a few weeks now so next week will be the real test and I'm sure we will see more of the squad and perhaps more variation because of it.

Would love to see the running stats suspect they are not much different as in the current role he does not have to press in the way he had to when as the 10 or in a midfield 3.

I also wonder whether what we have seen in the defensive side is the first Steve Bould impact

That Mbengue tackle
at 20:18 20 Sep 2025

It was the definition of a 50/50 both players went in hard both connected solidly with the ball and inevitably one caught the other in momentum, the freeze frame photo looks awful, but does not tell the story. Ref was absolutely right to stop the game as it could have been a bad injury.

Dunne v Stoke - thoughts?
at 18:14 20 Sep 2025

His best game so far this season, I thought he and Vale handled Thomas really well who has been. flying they looked to cut him off at source and give him no space.

The one time he got away from him they should have scored

I think the difference for me is that the way we play the ball is more often than not in front of him, What was impressive today was his reading of the game to step in and be in right place at the right time to win the tackle, header etc. What he is not being asked to do is press, where often the most criticism has come for him because he just did not have the speed or stamina to do it and we are now playing to his strengths.

Starting to look a very good partnership with Varane
