RSC - Guy on Sky commentary throughout called him a Spurs loanee . Let’s hope it does not become one, nip it in the bud now, has it changed the Cambridge considerably. |

Slow and sloppy at the start and should have been two down, these are the periods games could be lost easily while possession was lost far too much. Conceded again just before HT another habit we seemed to have developed. However, harder press and better passing second half improved the performance together with stronger subs, eg Hunt and Tucker, while cat 4 players were bringing subbed by the opposition. Mention for U’s ( loanee ) Williams who put in a shift in leading the line . |

Although had the possession still cannot break sides down on the hard press. Wide men never got any ball inside the centre backs until late and then no enough bodies in the box . Visiting goalie only worked in the final ten when the game was already over . Subs were like for like after a hour, but the game became a struggle in the first half after going a goal down and playing with the usual slow ponderous play which lack a cutting edge . Goals win games in the stats, nothing else and the visitors did just that. |

Going in at half time after just taking the lead from being a goal down early was the great motivator for them. Their work rate was excellent and played to the strengths of being disruptive and set piece based . On that performance one wonders why they got relegated last season, but play like that throughout the season an automatic position looks very likely . We played no better second half, consistently could not get decent ball on the break and got penned in. Gave to many free kicks away because of their work rate in breaking us down, struggling for time and space . They won far too many headers from corners, so not surprised when we conceded a second . Powell looked comfortable and Tovide isolated, though had his own battle. Worry is had our three prime midfielders playing became ineffective . |

Presume by that Noah, ColEE suffer the most from Essex call ups, in the Premier League . Watching the Metro game at Chelmsford last Friday apparently Surrey had sixteen players absent due to the Hundred , so got a thumping against Essex side that only lost three. |

Although not sorted the construction of Championship cricket for the future, T20 fixtures next season will be played en bloc and will be completed before the Hundred commences. Has this does not help the ColEE course, Metro Cup games will remain until ICC take the 50/50 format off the world stage competition. All Essex Premier League clubs are potential feeder clubs for the next step pathway for Counties, just like U’s are for Championship clubs and beyond. Nice to see the local players to do well but it will always be frustrating that before the next step they have helped tthe clubs progress and perhaps with some silverware, unfortunately that does not happen . But good to see the Colchestrians doing personally well eg Szmodics, Allinsons, Fernandes and Foakes ( although sometimes not wishing some of clubs the success ) ! [Post edited 16 Aug 11:39]

Probably like a retirement through injury, take a pay off but then cannot play EFL . |

A display which would have looked better away from home . Flanagan continued to go forward in possession in the first half but nobody made any runs for width or space which led it reoccurring to often from the back till half time. Mix and match after the hour, but Lisbies enthusiasm and a diagonal ball from Read wide injected more life thereafter . |
