I would personally have picked Hayden above Varane, but otherwise I think this is pretty much the strongest line-up we can field at the moment. I like it. Early 3-0 lead, then we can start to give minutes to some fringe players. |

I think it's an unrealistic target to expect 2-3 home grown lads to come through the ranks into the 1st team every year. That just won't happen. It would be fantastic to produce Eze's on a regular basis, but I think the current path of buying more established players in their early 20's and selling on has a better chance of success and we'll end up with fewer Travelmans and Shodipos. That said, I am very curious as to the Kolli situation and believe he should be above Frey. And I think Morgan and Esquerdinha should get more minutes. But I also think results and a steady platform is important. I can't imagine it's a healthy "development environment" for youngsters to fight relegation battles. It might be good experience, but I don't think ideal development circumstances. So I am all for steading the ship and making sure we are a solid championship outfit, both on the field and financially, then start to groom the youngsters. Its not an overnight process. And as I have said many times before, the likes of Cook and Hayden are very valuable old hands and experience that this "project" absolutely needs. |

Can they drop out of the league / football setup altogether? What are the next steps now? Would benefit us if they are kicked out, means we didn't drop points there. My best mate is a Wednesday supporter. Poor fella. |

I have a suspicion we were just trying to hang on here and go full tilt at Derby. But with the seemingly depth we have now, expected a bit more oomf here. Good to bounce back after the Millwall defeat, take the 3 points and move on. |

Good report thank you. And Clive touches a point here that always frustrates me: Why do we always need to setup to counter the opposition instead of playing to your own strengths? That way you keep chopping and changing and mixing it up. In a league like the championship there will not be many games where you really have to setup to counter the opposition to avoid a whitewash, not to the point where it affects the team selection like it did vs Millwall. Focus on what you can do well and let the opposition worry about you. Small tweaks and adaptions sure, but not to the point where we nullified our own attack for the sake of having bigger players on the pitch. p.s. Burrell looks pretty big and physical to me me anyway. I don't see what Frey can do what he supposedly can't. [Post edited 21 Oct 8:55]

RND probably the only one if line for a starting place, but depending on how the game goes, I hope some of the others make some minutes at least. [Post edited 16 Oct 14:19]

Kelman 0 goals and 0 assists in 9 appearances, Celar 0 goals and 0 assists in only 4 Bundesliga 2 appearances (injured?) and Alfie Lloyd is yet to play any football. Ifs and buts, but we could already have been staring down the barrell of a gun here if Kone and Burrell weren’t shipped in. |

Massive kudos to Madsen. Here's a guy who had a, well, not so good, season, took abuse from fans and could easily have said "this is not working, let's move on". Instead, he stuck to it and is turning it around. His pre-season interview in Spain saying just that. For me again testimony that the club is attracting the right type of personalities at the moment. A far cry from the crowd we had here in the post Beale days. Well done Nicholas, keep it going! |
 | Forum Reply | COOK at 12:45 5 Oct 2025
I think Cook is arguably one of the top pro's at our club, if not the. Given his contract situation and where he is at in his career, many others in the same situation would probably have just played it out without too much stress. But he looks fully committed to the club and doing his best whenever he is called upon. Top bloke. We definitely need a leader like him. And that's without going into how important he was the previous two seasons to keep us up. |

Obviously not a great game or result, but I understand the thinking with the team selection and rotation. You would think the players who came in would have been keen to impress and highly motivated, but instead they proved rusty. Which highlights why we should perhaps get more minutes into the fringe players. I wasn't too surprised with the starting line-up, only maybe expected Kolli instead of Frey up front. And since the Mbengue suspension was almost a given, I would have played Cook & Morrison at CB. Sure, points dropped, but not too worried. We have to have bad games also, so learn from it and move on. |

When is this thing finally going to go tits up? Every month its missed payment and more transfer embargoes, but there doesn’t seem to be an end. Unbelievable that the players just keep plugging away. |
 | Forum Reply | Kone v Kelman at 06:26 30 Sep 2025
I’m guessing we haven’t moved the needle yet on any of the “added bonusses” that went with the Kelman sale. Pity for the lad and I wonder why he was so hell bent on leaving (if rumours are true). |
 | Forum Reply | The unicorn stays a bit longer at 12:58 23 Sep 2025
Highly unlikely, as Cook's extension clause (I believe) was based on appearances for a large part. Frey almost certainly would not have met such a clause. |
 | Forum Reply | Team v Sheff W at 11:39 23 Sep 2025
We have a much younger squad now, so the need for rotating during the 3-game weeks is less, imho. Its the 30+ guys who tend to struggle when there is a short turn-around, the young guns far more capable of managing it. I would expect small tweaks and/or changes that are like-for-like. Field, Cook, Smyth etc might get starts. And depending on the game situation, subs starting as soon as HT. Impressed by the minutes Kone is making at the moment, not often you see a striker play so many 90 min games consecutively. |
