Kolli's very promising. He has a certain air of confidence, and a bit of class (e.g., that instant outside of the right finish away somewhere). It would be great to see him develop with us. But considering all the injuries, and all those with unfulfilled potential we've seen in the past, his career could easily go nowhere. So in our circumstances right now the safer bet would be a move if there's a proper fee and a good sell on. |

The first woman I met from Tinder (bearing in mind I'd been in a relationship for 13 years and never had an app date before). She looked ok, but 50% bigger and 25% older than her pictures. I thought what's the point of doing that. When she made it very clear that she lived nearby, and that I was welcome to visit when we finished our drinks, I realised her strategy. She was an opportunistic predator relying on the male reluctance to say no. I stayed strong. Be careful out there. |

I really enjoyed the apps for a couple years after I broke up with the mother of my children. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Much simpler to speak with people who want to date who like your pictures than having to chat people up in bars who might not be available, in the mood to flirt, or even be remotely interested. I learnt this (much of which is obvious): It is a numbers game. The more people you match, talk to, meet, the more likely you are to meet someone you really like who likes you back. Just being polite, respectful, and being able to hold a conversation is a massive plus. There are a lot of weirdos out there and women are rightly a bit cautious. Don't pretend to be what you're not. Pointless if they like what you're pretending to be. Just be yourself and if they like that you've got a chance. When you're chatting with someone, keep it going, and move to that first date as quickly as you can. It can be fickle, and time kills deals. I would often send a quick candid video of myself blathering about something I was doing - cooking, walking back from QPR, whatever - so they could get an impression of me. The implication would be that they would return one and often they would. If they did not, I would request one. Lots are quite uncomfortable with it. But the sensible ones come around when you point out it's much better to share a quick video note than go through all the effort and nerves of a first date and both run the risk of instantly being disappointed. And it weeds out the catfish. It's worth setting up the first date as just one no-pressure drink with both of you having a plausible plan of what you're doing next (e.g., lets have a quick drink before I go and join my friends for dinner). Often one of you or both will know almost immediately if you're not into each other...so why get trapped in a situation that's awkard for you both? Then after your drink you can just say "That was great, I'd like to do it again, lets have dinner next week". Or simply "You're great, but I just didn't feel the spark. Good luck". And if it goes really well you can bin your alternative plans. It's scarier and more dangerous for women to go on a first date. So I think the man should at least always buy that first drink. After that it's up to you both how you organise things. The apps are very different. Tinder is very international and a bit more of a hookup site. Hinge is more serious, and can be a bit like a job interview. Bumble is fine, but don't believe that 'women take the lead' spiel...they say hi, and then the man still leads the conversation 99/100. Feeld is a lot of fun for those who like that kind of thing. Have fun! [Post edited 8 Jul 16:19]

Yes my feeling on any more 'ins' is dependent on: 1. Kelman leaving (but WBA are signing another striker so not them) 2. Eze moving on (but looking like all interested clubs are going for £50m 23 year olds instead) 3. Deciding through pre-season that Larkeche and Esquerdinha are not up to it. 4. Last minute opportunistic loan (from Newcastle probs). I too would be more comfortable with another proper midfielder. But that might be a luxury / unaffordable when we have Vale, Madsen, Morgan, (and I've always thought Chair could do a good job) who could play there. I was particularly interested that Vale seemed to play in that position in the first friendly which is a way of getting him into the team with Poku's arrival. I can't see us getting a striker unless two of Kelman, Frey, Celar, Kolli, Lloyd leave. [Post edited 8 Jul 16:16]

I think they’re going for gyokeres instead. Gyok, zuba, and ebs would be too much for one window. Mores the pity. |

I think you can if you get it right, but there's no reason to think we would get it right. So I agree it's not the most cautious approach. You can have a Frey for headers and bullying. But I actually think that's easier to defend against than movement. How many headers is he winning and who's picking up the flick ons? How many balls is he really bringing down and playing? He has some use but I don't think it's true that an immobile beast is more defensively sound. But if your gameplan with the ball is a) to play up the line and build from throwins in their half (I know), and b) have your 9 running the channels, you normally have most of your players behind the ball. If Kelman does get the ball and brings the others into play, they should facing the right way when they get it. If he doesn't get it, you're still set up and in shape. For periods you need to tighten it up, make it more 433, and I think Chair can actually do well in that midfield 3. Honestly, I totally forgot about Vale. But yes perhaps him or Smyth, or Morgan or Madsen come in instead of Dembele. |

My thinking is: Nardi Dunne Morrison JCS Larkeche Varane Field Poku Dembele Chair Kelman Playing defence 6 and attack 4 working up the line or hitting channels for Kelman to recycle for the supporting 3 and Dunne at set pieces. Bench: Walsh Esquerdinha Cook Mbengue Madsen Smyth Frey I’d be asking for a starting left back (Andy Robertson’s available lol) and an Andre Onana type. If Kelman was sold for good money, for this team, I’d ask for an Ollie Watkins type. If we get the Eze payout wait until Jan. |

Hope not. Love Jimmy but don't fancy him in the middle at all. It's the panicky scuffed clearances. |

Combi boiler, not quite instant though. My mate massively overstated his meter readings knowing price rises were coming. Didnt think of that one myself sadly. [Post edited 21 Jun 9:14]

Echo that on the phone. Just £4pcm for Lebara which gives me all the calls and data I need. Normally on wifi anyway. Plenty still paying £20-30. Also...I never understood why I'd add cold water to the hot water when having a shower or a bath. Why heat it up so much to cool it down again? When do you need it hotter than you'd shower in? Just lowered the temperature on my boiler. Must save a bit. |

I love minder. Watched all of them again when home with my newborn. The front door for the Winchester was next door to Julie’s on Clarendon Cross. At least for some of the series. I walk past it on the way to QPR and give them a little nod. A highlight for me was when they drive down Highlever Road, where I lived when I was one. Probably about the same time too. |
