That's one view, but the simple version is that they wanted it more than we did. We lost individual battles all over the pitch, notably up front where Kone was anonymous not for the first time this week. Ball retention remains a massive issue with this team and that creativity to break down a low block is just not there. I di not buy "Kone needs a rest". He is what he is; a young man stepping up and needs to learn. He is cursed with a languid run that makes it look like he is not putting a shift in, but overall he WILL come good. Burrell's choices when free were very limited because of the lack of movement in front and around him. For me, the GK lost that game (again) - they weren't going to score another - but the missed opportunity is around our full backs. Esquidinha would have been best suited to that game and Dunne is having a poor season so far. They played well, but we let them by standing off; cimpare the space and time they had to what we had. .. and Varane. How Hayden was dropped for him I will never know. That £5m offer will look more tempting in January if he carries on like this. Poor. |

Just think what this team could be with two proper attacking full backs as opposed to the predominately defensive Dunne and RND. Esquerdinha particularly frustrating as he's shown enough to deserve a run in the first team, but gets overshadowed. For all the positives on youth recruitment, Morgan, Kolli, Bennie, Esquerdinha not getting any minutes in the first team - not quite right at the moment is it? |

It would have made little difference today. Aside from Kone's 'kin nightmare, Clarke won every cross thrown into their box. We were pathetic today; no fight, no drive. Passive all the way through and we got what we deserved, |

Overreact? Me? Crap, We lost that on effort. Nothing more. They wanted it more from the off and soon as they went 1-0 up, game over. Created nothing as per usual when having the lion's share of possession. Poor. Bullied completely. |

Awful. Just awful. Varane. Kone. Dembele. Nardi. Not one "scapegoat", but four. They are good. We are not. Utter dross. |

We can contain and can break, which is why we win more with less possession. Could be why we do better against better teams who like to dominate the ball. Standoff QPR with a "come on then, play through us" is probably a very good tactic... |

No, no, Bri. Remember that apparently he slows the game down, can't finish 1 on 1s and won't get in this team with all the attacking options we have. Continues to be the best player we have by a country mile despite contrary opinions on here... |

Should only be used for black and white decisions. Ball is either over the line or it is not. Offside is clear IF you define what part of the body is involved. What is a foul or handball is subjective and as much as I think we should have had at least two pens on Saturday, many don't... |

'Keepers don't make much money in transfer fees tour level and are bloody important. Not worried if they fall outside of the "model" to be fair. |

Good response. I used to like it back in the day, but it really is so manufactured these days with everyone so happy and grateful ignoring the bullying and serial shenanigans behind the scenes. They are all so bloody happy in their very Woke and diverse world. It is harmless and as GB says, loads of people including my wife love it. I have my football with my lad and it tends to dominate our house over the weekend, so as the missus pointed out to me, she wants something and me sitting with her for a couple of hours so that she can chat about what is going on is no bad thing. She is right. I don't like it as much as I used to, Tess is a Twiglet with limited talent, whereas Claudia is a Twiglet with a bit of talent, but it serves a purpose. Now Gladiators with the one man entertainment machine that is Legend is genuine family viewing that all three of us love... |

The lesso for everyone here is that this is the Championship and guess what - everyone is crap. Most games can go any of the three ways and are about being less crap than the oppo. Yes, there is quality there, but the difference with the top league is that it is not the "norm". The biggest travesty over the last ten years or so is that we have managed to be even worse than many average looking teams that have gone up purely to squad size and money. So, yes, everyone thinks everyone else is crap and they are generally right... |

...and that is the thing. Far Frank is so lucky to have taken this on from Robins. The popular press will cream themselves over Lampard, but the improvement was on this trajectory with the last manager. A little credit for him as it could have gone the way Selles took Sheff U, but Cov have been steadily improving over the last few years; exactly the sort of incremental improvement I'd like to see us experience over the next few seasons. |

Well the two times they do not give a foul must have been yesterday and Cov away last season when Thomas nudged Cookie over in the last minute before scoring their winner which took the wind out of Marti's last winning run... |
 | Forum Reply | Burrell - who identified / signed him? at 08:18 5 Oct 2025
Depends on your agenda. If you are on the "Doogie Howser MD is too young to know a thing" side of the fence, it was anyone but him, those on the other side, it's all down to him and his AI. The reality is that the club signed him, so we'll done the club. Always said that time will tell whether Nourry and his cronies are the Messiahs or very naughty boys. Right now, and for a few seasons yet, I am going to try to sit on that fence u till there is tangible long term success or long term failure. It depends on what end of the table we reside in as that is the ONLY metric that counts for me... |
