Julien Stéphan talks dreams, transfers, and that Coventry game – Interview
at 07:17 12 Sep 2025

Yet those two goals that won the game involved two players from the bench who gained their pre-season fitness from somewhere else. So, whilst JS was right that it is good that we finished strongly, it doesn't really change the theory that the fitness under the club's performance director remains poor.

So, I call BS on that and the Plymouth selection, which must have been a group decision.

Great interview though, Clive and I get that you need to maintain a relationship with the club, so can't go in too hard. Whatever you ask, the reality is everyone has already made their mind up on where they believe the power is in the club, so you won't ever be able to find the silver bullet question that clafies all.

Of course most opinion is going to ultimately determined by on the pitch performance. At the start of last season, there was much noise on here about Nourry. That all but disappeared when results picked up again, but returned once we nose dived. That'll be the same this season; to most (all?) of us first team results are THE barometer of happiness...

Chelsea under investigation...FA will happen!
at 21:08 11 Sep 2025

They OWN the Premier League.

We were told that the new government task force will work for the average fan, so let's see how they sweep into action, shall we?

Che*** and Man City were average run of the mill clubs 'til their owners were allowed to throw whatever money they wanted to at success. When they had bought all the assets they needed to including the Puppy Farm Nick London always spoke of the rules came in, but it did not matter as they had achieved what they wanted.

The rules have stopped anyone doing the same.

Just f-off to a Super League and let the rest of us get back to FAIR competition!

Football's Financial Shame (BBC Documentary)
at 18:07 7 Sep 2025

Not watched, so probably will comment out of context, but the astronomical money involved in football will always lead to people trying game to make a fast buck or two. No point trying it on if the rewards are miniscule!

I mean wtf is an agent anyway other than a way of making someone who can't play the game very very rich.

Someone published the money from the first premier league on the soch recently; some little team from West London got just over £2m for finishing 5th. What's that now; around 100 times that?

It is obscene. The players are not worrying about the odd twenty grand a week on wages (a million a year); they don't need it, but someone else will grab it if they don't.

Criminal really and that is without talking about obvious money laundering opportunities and tax get outs...

Agree, but the saddest thing is that it is miles behind the best squads in this division and not just the parachute clubs or the Commercial Giants coming up from below. Look at Derby, Norwich, Millwall and Bristol C - all miles ahead of us on paper.

We are so far away from promotion and even with the best squad we've had in years, so much more likely to exit the division through the trap door.

Going to take a sustained run of effort to keep midtable...

He was awesome last season, but if the fee is going to be north of £5m, we cannot afford him as that money is better spent elsewhere.

We are well stocked at CB...

Have you ever caught the ball at a game?
at 06:59 31 Aug 2025

Cup game (I think) v Luton in the Paddocks, caught on TV. Tim Breaker ( of all people) came charging towards me shouting "give me the f#@king ball" as they were down by a goal, so I threw it over his head!

This. Great post.

Not a perfect performance by any stretch, BUT we competed with and actually beat another Championship side.

So injured:

JCS
Frey
Chair
Poku
Larkeche

Unfit:
Dembele
Kolli
Kone
Cook

TWO games in.

Fck loading, fck science. We give up 5-6 games each season. Bottom by the end of September comes round, then fully expecting our mid table squad when everyone is "fit" to catch up with everyone else.

Clown 🤡 club in the extreme.

Throwing a game in the Champ because our new French Head Coach believes he can judge who the best Champ teams are and this lot are, in his opinion in the top three.

If our players are being told that, they will not get at them early on and if they do not do that we know what happens...

4-0 Cov.

Maybe others should have stopped giving Dembele the ball to as he'd only fall over and then beg to come off later as he can't take the pace of the Championship...

Yes that away end was about to give the club both barrels before that goal and deservedly so. At least Stephan called it unacceptable after the game, which is exactly what it was. Let's see if he reacts by changing stuff and that he and his coaching team must take a good proportion of the blame as they could have played two gull backs from the start.

I mean if Adamson and Esquerdinha are our back ups and need to learn, why not yesterday?

If you were worried about who they would be playing against then you clearly do not think that they are up to the required standards and should not be at this club as the deputies, should they?

Playing games is the best for fitness. We get told that again and again,

So why leave the first team, full of people blowing out of their a**es collectively after 60 minutes on Saturday at home?

He said that they were tired at the end of the game.

So was the first team on Saturday and they clearly could not face another 90 so soon after.

WTF is our Performance Director actually doing?

We are a football club NOT a fckn "Project"...
