I have visited many places where you have to scan your ticket to gain entry, and can honestly say that the system at Dale seems to be the most primitive I have ever encountered. It just looks like it was put together as part of a junior school science project. If we are to progress and be able to cope with a ground that is only just over half full (ok...it looked closer to 75% full but I guess we will never know) we need a much better entry system. Yet another Bottomley project that hasn't been value for money. |

Crumbs. That was awful for the people who turned up and gave us yet another chance. They've probably given us several chances down the years but the opportunity to roar us on to Wembley against lower league opponents lured them back. Let me say one thing. We will never ever progress with Jim in charge. He is far too cautious, careful or negative. Choose what you want. I'm sick and tired of us not attacking when we should be trying to kill off games be it home or away. I'm sick and tired of the feeble excuses the Jim trots out and his almost complete disregard for entertaining the crowd...whether it's 2000 or 6000. There can be no excuses for our boring boring football when the board is trying to increase attendances. Thanks Jim. But no thanks. I for one hate your insipid negative brand of football...made much worse given the awful standard of this league and the relative strength of the squad. Good luck Spennymore. You had more guts on the day than we were allowed. |

I too didn't think Weston had a good game, but neither did Buyabu and Alarakia ( he's too "fiddly" on the ball) Ultimately, Jim's game management/second half tactics have cost us and not for the first time. I honestly believe this squad has underperformed by at least 10 points due to the managers tactical decisions. Thought Rodney had another good game despite playing deeper again. EEL also had a good game. |

We were the better of two average teams until the stupid challenge resulting in a penalty. After that, we showed our soft underbelly yet again and they actually should have won it. Turning point for me was us sitting 10 yards deeper in the second half and also the substitution of Rodney, who looked one of our few decent players. Sometimes I struggle to understand what Jim actually sees. No doubt the pitch will come in for criticism, but its the same for both teams. |

We could do with a second goal here. They don't look brilliant but they are pushing us back. Buyabu had a good chance but got his feet mixed up. The pitch is very bobbly |

Wasn't able to listen today so had to get updates from here and X. But its a real morale boost for everyone ahead of next weekends game, and it sounds like we really went for it today, which is good news. Fantastic that Rodney got a brace. |
 | Forum Reply | Paul Tait... at 15:52 25 Mar 2025
There was something very amiss about Paul Williams. He could be a fantastic target man, and had demonstrated this at other clubs, but he soon seemed to lose all interest in playing for Dale, and was often unavailable through injury. The exception was when we reached the latter stages of a cup and suddenly he announced himself fit , but wasn't selected iirc. Tait was different. Seldom injured although he played as if his boots were tied together. Just a rubbish player. I'm sure that some Bristol Rovers fans had t shirts printed mocking him as a "football genius" !! |

For everyone who thinks that Mitchell could do better, I give you Paul Tait. One of the poorest target men (if that's what he was?) I have seen at Spotland. |

Played ok for half an hour without looking like scoring too many. Said to my mate at half time that we would sit back and they would press us. Sadly. That's what happened. Even in the latter stages of the match we rarely looked threatening and disappointingly we refused several shooting opportunities in favour of passing wide which almost inevitably led to an easily defended cross. Oh Jim...you tease us with a couple of decent performances and then revert to type. In addition, they looked fitter than us in the second half. Did they raise their levels or were we playing within ourselves again? |

Watched the game from afar with a latucs fan. My observations are that we should have won but went slightly defensive towards the end and they capitalised. It was a game not to lose, but one that we really should have won. Thought Gilmour had a good game and our defence was good when they did the simple things. Oldham were far less effective than when we played them a few weeks ago. |

Been overseas for a couple of weeks, so not seen the last few games, but certainly I've been delighted with our recent results and form. Long may it continue. I've arranged to view the flat cap Derby with an Oldham fan on Saturday. Hopefully we can continue our recent good form. A big thanks to Jim for the turnaround . Up the Dale. |

It was more of the same last night. we looked good in parts (without really threatening their keeper) for about an hour. Then, they started to put us under a bit of pressure by running at us, and in the end we were probably glad of a point. The best chances all fell to Halifax, and Waller saved us yet again. The penalty was the correct decision, but was a very tame effort indeed. We do seem incapable of shooting on target. Is this that the players aren't good enough, or is it instructions from the Management team? Either way; it's completely unacceptable and is driving supporters away. Our best cross came from Rodney, and our most effective striker was Henderson. Jim should be held to account for not utilising him more. Unless he is completely knackered, he deserves at least 20 minutes on the pitch. On paper, a point away at a team above us seems ok; but in reality, it wasn't good enough. A bit like Southend at the weekend... had we gone there to win the game and attacked purposefully, we would probably have won. Play offs? Looking more unlikely with the passing of every game, but a change in the mindset of the team could still see us get there. |

Absolutely nail on head TS. It does seem like a throwback to BBM days where the number of passes was valued more highly than the number of points. Passing around on our own pitch (plus several others) is foolish in the extreme. I'm so glad that you mentioned the home game with Halifax, as I too thought they were by far the better team and really should have won. Big few weeks for the team now. Can we mount a realistic play off push? I'm hopeful, but not confident. It will all come down to how the team is set up and told to play. |

Didn't see the game today so relying on my mates report driving back. He says that we were the better team by some distance for about 70 minutes...until they made a triple substitution, and Jim looked puzzled. They then pressed our midfield and defence, and we sat back looking increasingly nervous and making comedy errors. Our subs were (once again) like for like and too late. The 90th minute introduction of Henderson (when we had missed several chances that he would eat for breakfast) is disrespectful to our leading goalscorer. He went on to say that Southend were not far off being hopeless, yet could easily have won it towards the end due to our nervousness. |

Can't disagree with any of that, but would add that for me, the biggest factor will be the way Jim gets us to play. More of what we have seen recently, and we will slip away to a disappointing mid table position somewhere near where we finished last season, whilst a more attacking outlook could see us in or around the play offs. Our inability to shoot in all but a few games is already costing us which is disappointing as I feel we are not getting the best from our players. |

I've now watched the game in full on DAZN, courtesy of buying a pass on Tuesday, and I can honestly say it was garbage. As bad as it has been in years. And I have witnessed the real lows down the years... Droylsden, Bangor, Northwich Victoria; Plymouth 6-0 at home and Orient 8-0 away. The only way we will progress is if McNulty goes. He is next to clueless when it comes to setting us up offensively. Crowds need to be entertained. He can't deliver. How this happens is anyone's guess because it seems like our also clueless Board of Directors are oblivious to events on the pitch. C'mon guys... it's an entertainment business . There is not a cat in hell's chance that we will grow our crowds whilst we persist with this rubbish on the pitch. In fact, it will alienate hundreds more supporters. So; likeable guy that he is; Rochdale fan that he says he is; Jim needs to step down for the good of the club. He is costing us money for every performance that we put in according to the BBM sideways and backwards passing manual that we have reverted to. Project 5000? Your having a laugh. We have some half decent players who are scared to express themselves. Give them some freedom Jim, and close the door behind you. |

Full time report from my mate who went is that we were shockingly bad but its down to the way our team is set up and the unacceptable way we play. Apparently, they had the best 2 chances of the game and really should have scored one of them. Hes gone for a pint now.. but has now joined the growing number who wants a change of management and also co chair...Sadly I think both of them have run out of ideas. |

Sounds grim on Daleplayer. My mate in the ground texted me to say how slowly we try to play against a team lacking in pace throughout. Quite a few murmuring that Jim needs to go. |
