Having spoken to several long suffering fans over the weekend (before Oldham showed us how to do it yesterday, for which I applaud them) they are all of the opinion that we really messed up this season when we had a fantastic chance of promotion and cup success. Every single one of the people I spoke with has watched Dale for well over 30 years. we can't all be hopelessly wrong in saying that Jim is the problem. Negativity from the Manager leads to negativity throughout the whole club. Our squad last season was more than capable of winning the FA Trophy and getting at least to Wembley. I would be absolutely amazed if the Board aren't fuming with Jim's negative tactics and passionless personality. I hope they've read the riot act to him. |

I have no opinion either way on this signing. Obviously hoping that he remains injury free in the coming season, but at the same time quite concerned at his injury history over the past few seasons. Regarding Carlisle signing the likes of Linney and possibly Houghton as well. They already have a very expensively assembled squad (mostly signed by previous Managers ) and were the team with the biggest budget (most Clout for JIM) in L2 last season. So having more cash doesn't always equate to success. Hopefully, we will address the need to bring in 4 or 5 players who are fit enough and of a decent enough calibre to compete for a first team place here. However, at this level, we will need to supplement the squad with a selection of loan players. It's all about the balance, but our own contracted players need to be fit enough to play a minimum of 30 games a season imho . |

It was McNulty to blame for reintroducing EEL when it was obvious that he was a couple of weeks short of being ready to play. Also, it was blindingly obvious (to me at any rate) that Hogan was a decent non league defender when played at the centre of defence. Sadly, our manager often played him as a wide one of three, where imho he was nowhere near as effective. Kingdom was the best defender at the club but is obviously destined for greater things. Regarding EEL, he is now little more than a standard defender at this level, and like Hogan, has a mistake in him. Neither possess the pace necessary to combat a ball played through or over them. Neither are good enough to build a promotion winning team around. Both should get us into the playoffs again, which as we have seen are very difficult to navigate through, especially with Jim's baffling decisions mid game. Ferguson can count himself unlucky to have had a Manager who, for whatever reason seems not to like him. |

He showed how useful he can be towards the end of the last season. It remains something of a mystery why he wasn't used more before this year.. Hopefully, he can assist more on the coaching side as well as lending his experience to the team. |

Yes; It is vital that the Trust Director is there to represent the supporters and Trust members rather than aligning with the Football Club Board. He or she must not be afraid to disagree with the main Board should the need arise. |

Back on topic. Well done to Oldham. They really stepped up from their patchy form towards the end of the season. Can hardly believe how poorly York did on the night. |

God news. I've been impressed with him this season. |
 | Forum Reply | TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Southend United (Playoffs) at 09:20 16 May 2025
Firstly, big congratulations to Southend and good luck going forward. I dragged a mate there last night, and on the way I told him that we can play some really entertaining stuff but have a tendency to drop too deep when ahead instead of looking to go forward. Oh how I wish I was wrong. It was typical Jim management. we could and possibly should have won that game, but for some awful substitutions. Without castigating the players; East struggled throughout whilst Barlow and Gilmour were excellent. Bird and Rodney provided decent targets and we did look good value for our lead. Jim's subs sadly weakened us up front and especially in midfield. Sorry, but Mitchell should never have got onto the pitch such is his lack of presence since Xmas. Barlow, unless injured, should not have been replaced. as soon as he was taken off, Southend strolled through the middle of the park, and also exploited the wings almost at will. The fact that they scored with headers tells plenty. Despite us going more defensive, we didn't mark them sufficiently well. The last goal in particular saw Gilmour and Mitchell supposedly marking their player, yet neither of them put in a challenge at all, leading to a headed across the six yard box for an unmarked sub to score with a free header. Oh... and Hogan should have given away a penalty towards the end. He got nowhere near the ball with a slide challenge in front of the Sandy. Am I upset? Yes. Am I surprised? Not really, because we will never be able to close this type of game out with Jim in charge. To the owners... Look at the difference in encouragement and instructions coming from the benches during the game. Southend's Management were constantly instructing and barking encouragement to their team. Jim had hands in pockets or arms folded almost all the time. Very little enthusiasm shown, almost as if it's just another day at the office. Not sure how many times the public of Rochdale can be let down on big match occasions. Sooner or later; they will simply have seen it once too many times.. Quite sad . |

Oldham played an absolute blinder last night. Exactly how we should approach the game tonight as the home team. They went straight at Halifax, and never gave them a moment to settle. Fully deserved their win, and must now be serious contenders to go all the way. |

I was in the town centre over the weekend, and visited several pubs. Apart from the usual Dale fans who I've known for years; I only spoke to one person who knew we were in the play offs, and he thought it was on Saturday. Hoping for a decent crowd but doubt it will be anywhere near the FA Trophy semi final figure. |

Yes... I thought is could easily have been given. But overall we should have been 2 or 3 goals to the good. Almost totally controlled the game for long periods . |
 | Forum Reply | Refwatch - Solihull Moors v Rochdale at 20:40 29 Apr 2025
Which has almost inevitably led to Solihull coming right back at us and having a couple of chances. For all our possession in the first 35 minutes, I'd like us to be testing their keeper more. Hopefully, we can strengthen from the bench after half time and go on to win it. |

Didn't watch the game, but will do soon on DAZN. From comments on here and X it sounds like we set off with real intent, against a decent attacking team in Hartlepool but we overpowered them in the end. Great to hear that we played some really entertaining stuff throughout. Well done everyone concerned. Brilliant to see Bird back on the pitch, and it will give the whole place a confidence boost. Up the Dale. |

Today was a microcosm of our season. The players are sent out with fear and told to be cautious at all times. The result is a boring game where the opposition gain a degree of confidence against our all too predictable play. It won't ever increase the fanbase. [Post edited 21 Apr 17:58]

Poor first half against a team who offered almost nothing for 30 minutes but then had the games best chance. I'm afraid that Mitchell just isn't currently capable of playing first team football. Sadly, he weakens us as an attacking force. Will Jim see it or keep him on? Big second half coming up..for the players and supporters alike. C'mon Dale. |

Pretty much echoes my view of the game. We really should have been out of sight before they equalised. After that, they had us under the cosh...especially down the wings which had been almost no go areas for them in the first half. I'm absolutely delighted that we won, but just wish we could have scored a second goal that our play in the first hour deserved. |

I was just going to post that our substitutions hadn't strengthened us one bit. Rodders to the rescue. Plus 3 very good one on one saves to boot. |
 | Forum Reply | Refwatch - Altrincham v Rochdale at 16:35 18 Apr 2025
Oh dear.. predictable i suppose. Gave them way too much space on the edge of our box and they equalise with probably their first meaningful shot. C'mon Dale. Prove me wrong and win it now . |
