Former director?

I must confess I know little about Accountancy qualifications, but is this qualification a highly respected one or a more junior one from which you can progress.

Either way; it appears that it's a severe reprimand, (as the ruling states) together with being fined a considerable sum of money and being Divested of FMAAT status for 2 years.

2 years... hmm. That rings a bell !!

Been away much of the weekend, so have only seen the youtube highlights, but will watch it back on DAZN when I get chance.

Really impressive win at a difficult place and one that we came unstuck at last time. Early days but I'd much rather be where we are now than anywhere else.

Every game is important this season.

I haven't had any contact from the trust. It's sad to see an organisation that has been strong for 15 years struggling recently.

There was a big hangover from Jim's ridiculous selection on Saturday and it had a negative effect on today. We were somewhat fortunate to win despite a descent first half.

I don't like you (whether you realise it or nor) thinking that you have some sort of superior viewpoint to the rest of us. Guess what? You don't.

Please almost bullying someone who basically agrees with you. It doesn't do you any favours at all, . Sutton were scared to death but almost scraped a point. YD and no doubt are as entitled as you as you feel you are.

We were lucky to win based at the second half . and it all comes down to Saturdays stupid decision from Jim. A draw would not have been unfair to them based on our our second half showing.

The atmosphere around the ground was awful today,. despite our good start.

Having slept on it, I am actually more annoyed today than I was yesterday. 54 years of supporting Dale, and I have never seen such an ill thought out decision. Yes the Carlisle choice of ends was bad, but that was one player making a decision rather than the Manager.

What Jim has managed to do yesterday, which is a hard thing to do, is unite the whole fanbase against him. I don't think there is one voice coming out on any social media platform in support of what he did which speaks volumes.

Despite their denial, there will be members of the Board, and probably members of the Management team who read this message board. it is to be hoped that Jim is given the biggest bollocking of his life and forced to apologise. There is really no other option.

The goodwill of excellent recruitment and early season results has been wiped out in a moment of utter contempt. Only Jim can put it right with an apology to the squad and the supporters.

Sounds like Brackley are working hard while we continue to pass pass pass.

Regardless of the result, Jim needs to hold his hands up and apologise. He's already as much as admitted he got it horribly wrong by making all the changes so soon.

Anything else other than admission of errors of judgement will be poor form.

I'd be furious if I was the Ogdens or one of the 250 supporters who made the trip.

An amazing number of changes to a team that must have finished the last game brimming with confidence. Hope Jim knows what he's doing. Looks a bit risky to me.

Some really good football on show so far. Quite a gulf between the two teams in the first half. A combination of Gateshead not being as strong as a couple of seasons ago plus us being stronger.
Rodney in particular playing well.

Favourite Dale goal
at 20:12 17 Aug 2025

Remember it well. Keith Bebbington ( I think) protested so strongly at the referee disallowing a perfectly good Dale goal (the Blackburn fans ripped a hole in the net at the Sandy Lane End and then their players told the referee that it never went in the goal...despite it going right in the middle of the net)

All hell broke loose with several Dale players being booked and Bebbington getting sent off. After a few minutes the linesman told the ref that it was a good goal, and he changed his mind and awarded it after all.

The game was just about to kick off when it was pointed out that we had suffered a sending off because of the referee's mistake, so Bebbington was called back from the changing rooms and brought back on.

Only time I've ever seen anything like it.

Second best in midfield for much of the game, although Barlow did well. Two good goals and Alty are not to be underestimated. Hoping for a better second half from us, it still feels a bit pedestrian so far.

C'mon Dale

NL playoff final

Having spoken to several long suffering fans over the weekend (before Oldham showed us how to do it yesterday, for which I applaud them) they are all of the opinion that we really messed up this season when we had a fantastic chance of promotion and cup success.

Every single one of the people I spoke with has watched Dale for well over 30 years. we can't all be hopelessly wrong in saying that Jim is the problem. Negativity from the Manager leads to negativity throughout the whole club. Our squad last season was more than capable of winning the FA Trophy and getting at least to Wembley.

I would be absolutely amazed if the Board aren't fuming with Jim's negative tactics and passionless personality. I hope they've read the riot act to him.

Incoming ..... another club teaser
at 12:52 31 May 2025

I have no opinion either way on this signing. Obviously hoping that he remains injury free in the coming season, but at the same time quite concerned at his injury history over the past few seasons.

Regarding Carlisle signing the likes of Linney and possibly Houghton as well. They already have a very expensively assembled squad (mostly signed by previous Managers ) and were the team with the biggest budget (most Clout for JIM) in L2 last season. So having more cash doesn't always equate to success.

Hopefully, we will address the need to bring in 4 or 5 players who are fit enough and of a decent enough calibre to compete for a first team place here. However, at this level, we will need to supplement the squad with a selection of loan players. It's all about the balance, but our own contracted players need to be fit enough to play a minimum of 30 games a season imho .

Dale Released List Confirmed
at 19:21 24 May 2025

It was McNulty to blame for reintroducing EEL when it was obvious that he was a couple of weeks short of being ready to play. Also, it was blindingly obvious (to me at any rate) that Hogan was a decent non league defender when played at the centre of defence. Sadly, our manager often played him as a wide one of three, where imho he was nowhere near as effective. Kingdom was the best defender at the club but is obviously destined for greater things.

Regarding EEL, he is now little more than a standard defender at this level, and like Hogan, has a mistake in him. Neither possess the pace necessary to combat a ball played through or over them.

Neither are good enough to build a promotion winning team around. Both should get us into the playoffs again, which as we have seen are very difficult to navigate through, especially with Jim's baffling decisions mid game. Ferguson can count himself unlucky to have had a Manager who, for whatever reason seems not to like him.

He showed how useful he can be towards the end of the last season. It remains something of a mystery why he wasn't used more before this year.. Hopefully, he can assist more on the coaching side as well as lending his experience to the team.

Election of new Trust main board director

Yes; It is vital that the Trust Director is there to represent the supporters and Trust members rather than aligning with the Football Club Board. He or she must not be afraid to disagree with the main Board should the need arise.

TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Southend United (Playoffs)
at 09:20 16 May 2025

Firstly, big congratulations to Southend and good luck going forward.

I dragged a mate there last night, and on the way I told him that we can play some really entertaining stuff but have a tendency to drop too deep when ahead instead of looking to go forward. Oh how I wish I was wrong.

It was typical Jim management. we could and possibly should have won that game, but for some awful substitutions. Without castigating the players; East struggled throughout whilst Barlow and Gilmour were excellent. Bird and Rodney provided decent targets and we did look good value for our lead.

Jim's subs sadly weakened us up front and especially in midfield. Sorry, but Mitchell should never have got onto the pitch such is his lack of presence since Xmas. Barlow, unless injured, should not have been replaced. as soon as he was taken off, Southend strolled through the middle of the park, and also exploited the wings almost at will. The fact that they scored with headers tells plenty. Despite us going more defensive, we didn't mark them sufficiently well.

The last goal in particular saw Gilmour and Mitchell supposedly marking their player, yet neither of them put in a challenge at all, leading to a headed across the six yard box for an unmarked sub to score with a free header.

Oh... and Hogan should have given away a penalty towards the end. He got nowhere near the ball with a slide challenge in front of the Sandy.

Am I upset? Yes. Am I surprised? Not really, because we will never be able to close this type of game out with Jim in charge.

To the owners... Look at the difference in encouragement and instructions coming from the benches during the game. Southend's Management were constantly instructing and barking encouragement to their team. Jim had hands in pockets or arms folded almost all the time. Very little enthusiasm shown, almost as if it's just another day at the office.

Not sure how many times the public of Rochdale can be let down on big match occasions. Sooner or later; they will simply have seen it once too many times.. Quite sad .

Oldham played an absolute blinder last night. Exactly how we should approach the game tonight as the home team. They went straight at Halifax, and never gave them a moment to settle. Fully deserved their win, and must now be serious contenders to go all the way.
