Could have played it this week then. And I'm not having kittens - just realise the value of having a really good keeper and Southend is a game we really need to win for more reasons than just the 3 points on offer - and in my opinion having Whatmuff in goal gives us a better chance of that.
I've since been looking how Barnet did it last year and up until early February it was changing between Barnet,Forest Green and York for top spot. Then Barnet went on an amazing 9 game winning streak which ultimately won them the title. They were 11 points clear of 2nd place York with 6 games to go and never got caught after that. Every season is different I suppose and all we can do is keep winning and hope our main players stay relatively free from injury because that's all I can see standing in our way at the moment - we are playing with a swagger and with Whatmuff keeping them out and Mani D knocking them in it is looking amazingly positive for us.
I can see what you mean about York being a bigger threat longterm - but, I think us keeping top spot is good for morale so I definitely would prefer a draw tonight. Boreham wood haven't beaten any of the 'contenders' so far so I can't see them winning at an in form York.
These next 2 games will be a good test for Borehamwood. They've lost to us and drawn with Carlisle, Scunthorpe and Southend. They are definitely a tough nut to crack - our win on the opening day looks a brilliant result.
Really hope Mani Dieseruvwe stays fit and doesn't get booked/sent off too many times because he really is the difference. 2 chances in the first half and 2 goals. He's started his Dale career unbelievably - better than any player I've seen in my Dale supporting life and that includes some amazing players in Dawson,Holt,Lambert,Hogan,Murray. He really will score 40 goals this season if he plays all season - if someone came in and offered £1 million in Jan I'd turn it down because promotion is worth more - and we are getting promoted with him in the team.
Can we show 'bouncebackability'? We have already done twice this season after defeats to Brackley and Halifax. Lost our last 2 home games - dont want an unwelcome hat-trick. Whatmuff back is massive - lets go again.
