We're at it again, looking to take a young player from Man City.
at 19:22 21 Aug 2025

If it’s a right back we need then why not a punt for Matty Targett, local lad, 29 so neither a nipper or a crock and over 200 games under his belt.

Looks to me like WS has set his team out for a 0-0, which wouldn’t be such a terrible result.

You’re right B101, the way SR are going I can see us storming Div2 in 27/28 with all these youngsters.

Roll up, roll up - random prediction of the season, please.
at 14:09 25 Jul 2025

I predict that from the start of the season we’ll go on a twenty game unbeaten run, WS will leave for a ‘bigger club’ by Christmas and that, SR will hire Sarina Wiegman as 1st team coach and that the SMS bars will start serving rose wine instead of weak lager.

Nick whilst we’re discussing the virtues of returning players, I’m surprised that you haven’t taken the opportunity to promote the return of Maya Yoshida, I seem to recall you were a big fan of his and he could certainly captain the team and lead the youngsters.

Maybe drop Stephens to the bench and make a returning JWP our captain, the fans would love it and god knows we need a leader on the pitch.

My good mates a West Ham season ticket holder and we were talking about JWP. His view wasn’t particularly good as in his words he “lacks pace, can’t tackle and is a one-trick pony”. Having returned after his loan to Forest, how many uglies (like me) would welcome him back for a loan next season?

Questions 2 & 3 are just too complicated to attempt, however for me question 1 is easy.

Who’s got the earliest game

Your uncle like my Dad set us both up for a lifetime of triumphs and tribulations, only wish mine was still here to cheer on the team in the new season.

Who’s got the earliest game

Not sure if this has already been done , but was wondering who holds the accolade for the earliest Saints game, I’m only a youngster but will kick it off with the following.
9th August 1969 - home to WBA - lost 2-0
My dad took me to my first ever game and it was a treat for my sixth birthday.
Who’s got an earlier game?

What is middle class nowadays?
at 08:21 24 Jun 2025

Interesting comments from everyone, but nobody’s yet mentioned that in todays society we now seem to have four tiers rather than the traditional three.
Upper, middle and working class used to be the norm, but we now also seem to have the shameless class which depending upon the ingenuity of the person, sits them either above or below the working class position.
I’m referring of course to the person who hasn’t worked a day in their lives, knows how to claim every benefit in Christendom, is probably the second or third generation of the family to have adopted this lifestyle and will still get 100% of their state pension when they ‘retire’.
Now I’m not talking about the people who genuinely need support, but the hundreds of thousands (or more) who know how to play the system, have no job or any intention of getting one, have zero outgoings, a flash car on the driveway, two or three overseas holidays per year and despite all this, still complain about how badly they are done by.
Controversial I know, but who else is fed up with contributing their hard earned to this ‘class’ of person.

Tall Paul linked with Genk

Maybe we should introduce the new rule of charging by the foot, for Tall Paul that would net us a tidy sum, for Ryan Fraser maybe not so much.

Irrespective of who actually wins this crock of sh1t show, I’m pretty sure the main winners will be Liverpool and Arsenal, If any of the important Man City and Chelsea players get injured then the scousers and gunners will be laughing all the way to the bank and winning the league.

Southampton At Everton The Verdict
at 15:48 20 May 2025

I’m not talking about the ability (or not) of the Manager, but the sh1thouse team who predominantly couldn’t give a sh1t whether they were there on not. I did a ten hour, nearly five hundred mile drive to watch a team who by and large just couldn’t be bothered. What a team we would have if the players collectively gave just 10% of the energy and commitment shown by our fans.
