 | Forum Thread | George Elokobi's Maidstone United at 15:07 17 May 2025
In play-off final tomorrow. Good luck to them, only another couple of steps to seeing George back at the U's place of work. Good luck Stones. |

Anyone else noticed how slow the Usual website is lately. It took me five minutes to load this morning and another couple of minutes to post this message. Is it just me as all other web sites visited today are ultra fast... except The Usual! |
 | Forum Thread | Swindon match report at 16:45 2 Jan 2025
OK, so here is my ex- referee's assessment of the action yesterday. First Swindon goal. Never a free kick as no contact at all. Poor defending from the free kick though resulted in goal First U's penalty. Probably lucky we did not have a man sent off as the tackle on the Swindon goalie prior to the award of the penalty was atrocious. Foot in goolies? Second U's penalty, debatable. When will players stop throwing themselves to the ground when running side by side. Again no real contact made to make him fall like he did. Second Swindon goal. Probably the only decent move in the game that resulted in a "proper goal". Swindon penalty. How the referee was able to judge this as a handball I just don't know? It certainly was not "hand to ball" as is the required basis for the decision. Defender's arm was in a prior position to allow jumping for the ball. Surely there was no intention. With all of the above we still deservedly lost..... 1-0? Luckily we are only in Div.2 because if we had VAR for this game we would probably still be playing.. Also luckily the Boss was in the stands for his earlier bookings. What would have happened yesterday with him on the sideline one can only imagine! |
 | Forum Thread | Football gone mad at 16:08 27 Oct 2024
Just looked at West Ham v Man United thread Delighted with the score but noted a penalty was awarded to WH in the 87th minutes and penalty finally scored in 90+2. VAR delay gone mad? Full time 90+14. Div 2 is fine by me U's |

 | Forum Thread | Cricket rules please Noah at 17:36 1 Jul 2024
Top of the table clash Essex v Surrey. Overnight first day our leading batsmen is taken ill and has operation on his appendix. Rules apparently state that players can only be replaced with "possible" concussion symptoms. So because our man had an emergency operation overnight this is not as serious as possible concussion? For the rules to make us play against the league leaders without our best batter and ten men is disgraceful. Bet Surrey are having a good laugh. Hopefully this very unfortunate situation will bring about a change in the law; too late for Essex though. |
 | Forum Thread | Cricket question for Noah. at 15:18 12 Apr 2024
Are Essex likely to lose points for Kushi's allegedly "oversize" bat in the last match? And did he have an "undersized" bat today; out first ball.! |

Didn't do them much good last week so hope they get another kicking today. So far so good |

Forecast wins for Forest Green and Sutton. With my form it was great for the U's |
 | Forum Thread | I loathe Crystal Palace at 15:39 16 Feb 2024
What team would continue their search for a new manager while the current and so well respected manager is currently in hospital, not that the pressure on him may be responsible. Get well Roy and insist on a very large pay-off. The man is a legend, he deserves so much better than this. |
 | Forum Thread | Unbelievable treble at 17:08 27 Jan 2024
I have a certain affinity for three teams but obviously the U's are far and away MY team having spent my first 35 years in the immediate vicinity. Secondly lived in Maidstone for twenty years and had a close association with the team and even more interested now George has taken over. And having then moved to Chesterfield for 15 years always interested in their matches unless of course they were playing U's. Hopefully we will get to play them next year as they are nailed on certainties for promotion. So, an absolutely brilliant treble today. U's beat Morecambe for the managers first win, and hopefully many more Chesterfield beat Sarfend 3-0 Yeah And finally Maidstone United with their astounding win against the Tractor boys WOW, amazing three results; and what odds would I have got for that treble? |
 | Forum Thread | Good luck Maidstone United at 13:27 25 Jan 2024
This is not that I dislike Ipswich; well not much, but more than I have an affinity with Maidstone United. In the late seventies during my refereeing times I lived three doors down from Barry Watling, the then Maidstone manager. Consequently I was often asked to officiate pre season and friendly matches, the highlight being a pre season match against West Ham United including Brooking and Lampard. Memorable....come on the Stones. |

Came on as substitute for Ramsgate against AFC Wimbledon this evening. He must be nearly as old as me! And Johnny Jackson manager of AFC Wimbledon. Another U's legend. [Post edited 4 Dec 2023 21:53]
