Yeah delighted with the win. It was a crunch game at the end of the day. Sheehan has completed his mission with 6 games to spare. Have to respect that, particularly with the direction we were heading. I just don’t want to see us playing like that again. It was like watching Preston. We very rarely got near enough their box to play balls into feet |

Yeah Tymon was certainly further forward than usual Even so. A centre back at left back A left back on the wing A striker who is probably better in midfield up front on his own I thought Fulton did well, but Franco and O’Brien can battle. We had no one to unlock a negative, physical team I wouldn’t want us to set up like that too often |

He set us up quite negatively in both games. Three at the back, Cullen up front on his own, battlers but no creativity in midfield. It’s fine when we’re heavy underdogs. Leeds were always going to come at us. Derby were more than happy to just make it a physical battle and if we’re honest, we were very lucky to break them down. I just hope the way we’ve set up the last two games isn’t plan A from now on. |

Yeah he had two decent games. That style of football suits him. Mission accomplished, it’s got us over the line. Very interesting to see if Sheehan sticks with it now it’s more of a job interview than a battle to stay up. I don’t mind it against Leeds away. I hope we don’t see it at home to Plymouth |

This would be beautiful. I’d love to see them scrap it out for second best team in Wales in league two Edit - league one! [Post edited 6 Apr 6:09]

That was far more like Steve Cooper football. Two dire teams with no attacking intent cancelling each other out. Just like the Cooper seasons though, we managed to find a way to win. Three points were all that mattered today, but I hope we don’t have to watch too many games like that. |

I’m not sure it’s that simple. It would be very interesting to see how the likes of Congreve and Cotterill would be doing now if they’d been playing against Category A academy sides regularly. There’s no doubt these lads haven’t had the opportunity the likes of Rodon and Roberts did. Would they be first team players or sold on for big money by now? |

And this is what we’ve got to look at. Williams had us plodding along comfortably in mid table until he lost the squad and lost 8 out of 10 Sheehan is doing as well points wise, if not better than, Williams was until Christmas. That period between New Year and his sacking is an anomaly that has been addressed and the league table is making us look worse than we are. We need 6 or 7 points from 7 games (4 at home against some of the weakest sides in the league). We’re averaging more than that even accounting for the Williams spell when we were losing every week. |

I read both yours and Keiths. Reading between the lines and accepting people interpret things differently, at the very least it seems it’s not a priority. Personally I thought it would be (as it doesn’t really impact P&S and we’ve seen in the past it reaps rewards over time). |

What was said? I’m only going from what I’ve read on here and may (hopefully) have got the wrong end of the stick |

I doubt there is anyone on here who wouldn’t want us to re-upgrade to category A and produce the likes of Roberts and Rodon or develop the likes of McBurnie and James. I was surprised to hear this was openly dismissed yesterday. They do their research and have presumably concluded cheap prospects from abroad are the way to go. There’s logic in it if they are 100% convinced by Montague and his scouting system. |

I think they have to decide whether to go down the academy route or the bringing in young players with potential and some first team experience from abroad route. Of course they don’t have to put all their eggs in either basket. Recent appointments and the fact they don’t see category A as a priority certainly suggests they’ll be prioritising the second option. Interesting to see if it’s more cost effective to develop a player from within or to invest heavily in a scouting system that finds the likes of Widell. Ideally, I think we’d all prefer a team with a few of the next generation or Roberts’ and Rodons. For the time being, I think Francos and Eoms are more likely. |

The physicality (along with the pace) is the problem. I’ve no doubt our academy is producing technically excellent players, they just can’t cope with how intense league football is. Cullen is substantially better than the player who scored one all season for Lincoln. He has 10 in the championship and 2 for Wales this season. I’m not saying Congreve and Cotterill won’t get there, I’m saying they aren’t ready yet if they aren’t standing out in league two. Rangers were interested in Congreve a couple of years ago if I remember right, so his talent isn’t the reason he’s not flying at Bromley. No one can take Fultons place unless he finds a club offering him a deal to tempt him away. Contracts don’t work like that |

You don’t think he would? We’re talking Grimsby, Morecambe and Harrogate here. These are the teams these lads are scoring 1 in 10 against in the role he’s played most of the season. |

Agree with other peoples comments that it’s the biggest game of the season so far. However, I think both ourselves and Derby will ultimately stay up, regardless of the result. Worst case scenario, we’ve got Plymouth at home a few days later to put it right. |
