If we sign this striker and Yalcouye, we’ll actually have a very strong squad once the injuries clear up. All we would really be missing is cover for the fullbacks.
We may have a tough couple of weeks while it comes together, but I think we’ll be looking pretty solid before too long.
Slightly off topic from those goals, but I read the ‘owners update’ yesterday. A very positive communication, mainly talking about the transfer window and the new season.
But it did also say they had run an analysis on how many players were breaking through versus the cost involved in the last ten years and that they had begun early explorations around upgrading back to category one.
It didn’t promise it would happen and did kind of imply that it would be a long way off if it did, but very encouraging to see that it’s at least on the agenda.
I agree. Powerful shot with little backlift on either foot. He’s probably the only player in our squad that could have scored either of those goals. Also agree McBurnie couldn’t have done it either.
If that’s all you can come up with though, you clearly don’t rate him particularly highly. Two good goals isn’t a lot really is it?
Appreciate off the ball movement may be a bit beyond you, but have a look at this his. The striker you were so happy went to Hull. The goals aren’t as spectacular as the two you mentioned, they don’t have to be because McBurnie is intelligent enough to consistentky put himself in goal scoring positions.
Not to mention he can head the ball, competes physically with centre backs, drags them out of position and drops back to get involved in the build up.
This is what reserve keepers are. Woodman has just gone to Liverpool, what is he third choice? Scott Carson was at Man City for years.
Having two strikers, one of whom is more of an all round attacking player than a striker and injuries to our first and third choice centre backs are a worry. I’m really not bothered who our backup keeper is. We’re not going to sign a world beater to never play.
They are a docu-series as much as they are a football club. Interest in them will be massive this season, but as soon as they start losing as many as they win, people will just find something else to watch
I think the championship is their ceiling to be honest.
I think part of it is players and fans thinking they are Premier League players playing in the Championship, when the reality is they are Championship players who have spent one season of their career so far in the Premier League.
Not necessarily attributing that to Ipswich this season, but it’s quite common.
Thing with that is no keeper who is good enough for the Championship will want to be a number two for a Championship team, as they’ll never play. They are much better off playing every week in league one.
You’re always going to get a young up a comer, a veteran topping up his pension or a keeper who just isn’t very good.
If it’s any consolation, most of our peers are in the same boat.
Only saw the second half, but based on that it would have been a very sobering game for them. Easily outplayed by one of the teams likely to be near the bottom.
Disallowed goal Hit the bar Full back could have been sent off
But more than individual incidents, they were just the weaker team. Going to be a long season for them
Yeah, you’re probably right. I was just amazed at your comment. I assume you’ve seen them both play plenty of times?
So are you going to tell me what you see in Vipotnik then? I’ve asked you plenty of times. Or are you just going to hope he comes back a better player like the rest of us?
