I understood your point. I just asked why.

We’ve been in various iterations of the EFL for over a century. Why should we feel grateful? It’s imposter syndrome.

Let me clarify.

I’ve got no animosity towards the English and have no time for the kind of jibes we often see from the likes of Kilkenny, Trampie etc. I think it’s a bit insular and embarrassing.

At the same time, I don’t feel any gratitude towards anyone for us being ‘allowed’ to play in the league system we’ve always been in. That’s subservient.

When two viewpoints are that far apart, you don’t have to agree with either of them.

I want England to lose every time they play, that’s just sporting rivalry. Same with Cardiff.

Tottenham announce new contract for Ben Davies ...

He does that because when he gets things wrong, he scrambles desperately to twist the narrative and ends up tripping himself up. He’s involved in plenty of threads like this one.

World class is pushing it but he had an incredible career. Phenomenal for Wales.

Bale knew when his time was up. Ramsey should have chucked it in a couple of years ago. Don’t think he’ll play many games in Mexico

You’d have been better off saying this when you realised you were wrong eight hours ago.

Multiple posts trying to twist it into other people being wrong made you look a bit silly.

I’m not into English baiting, like this thread was originally started for, but I have to say I find OHLs subservient attitude (just in this instance) staggering.

We have a few who somehow prefer the English national team to their own, but I’ve never met anyone who thinks we should be grateful just for the privilege of playing in the EFL. People in Swansea don’t think like that.

Just wondering why you felt the need to be grateful for us playing in a league we have every right to play in.

Judging by your response, you don’t know either.

‘Tottenham have exercised an option to extend Ben Davies’ contract until the end of next season’

Literally the opening sentence.

Why? We’ve never been a league of Wales club. We don’t owe anyone anything.

We don’t have to act like we don’t deserve to be there.

Seems a crazy move from Pumas.

Elite player, but not high profile enough, particularly outside the UK, to put thousands on the gate or sell a load of shirts.

And more importantly, his legs have gone. He’s rarely fit and when he is, he may be the most talented player on the pitch, but he’s one of the least mobile.

From what I understand, it’s an option to extend, which Tottenham have exercised. He hasn’t signed a 12 month contract.

We did the same with Nathan Wood, then sold him rather than him going for free. Same with Liam Cullen who had to stay on a previous agreed deal, before he extended.

I doubt he would fit our profile anyway. We’ll be looking for lesser known players with a potentially high resale value.

Head of Acadamy leaves
at 17:49 7 Jun 2025

Nail on the head.

Watch an academy game and it’s very technical, some great passing moves.

It’s very slow, they have a lot of time on the ball and you rarely see a crunching tackle. It just doesn’t prepare young players for the pace and intensity of first team football.

This isn’t even a criticism of our academy, as every team we play against is the same. It’s certainly not a criticism of the lads that have come through and then struggled in league football, they aren’t prepared for it. Abdulai is a prime example.

It’s pathetic business. We only had two decent centre backs at the time. Run with one of them and Christie? Naughton?

Thank god the new owners stepped in when they did

Results wise he’s a middle of the road manager.

Yes, his football is frustrating 90% of the time and he certainly shouldn’t have been playing it with the players he had here.

We’ve had far better recently, we’ve certainly had worse.

The infatuation with him on here is bizarre. He’s just average.

Whittaker was one of the laziest players I’ve ever seen. Connor Hourihane was worse.

I agree with the general gist of your point though. You can’t play passing or possession football without the movement. Fulton, as much as I think he’s underrated, has never had that.

This is exactly what we need. Sort out the Darling/Darling replacement situation and bring in a centre forward and we’d have a very competitive starting eleven.

There’s a huge drop in quality behind that though. Very little strength in depth, particularly at the back.

People shouldn’t be disappointed when we bring in squad players, we’re desperate for them (apart from up front where he have a load of backups and no real first choice).

Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread
at 20:09 2 Jun 2025

He was hardly going to shackle them from the bench was he? He started less than half the games since O’Brien arrived, despite us playing three in midfield most games, only having four recognised central midfielders and one of them winding his career down with cameos.

I’m not sure if you were being facetious with your second paragraph, but the reason the midfield improved was O’Brien was considerably better than either of them.

I like Fulton, he’s a good championship squad player and if he goes to Plymouth I’m sure he’ll be more than that, but to suggest he was being shackled by a far superior player is ludicrous.
