Not as well known as Warhol or Dali but there’s an excellent gallery that’s fairly central in Prague displaying the works of the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha.
Excellent report Clive and it’s almost uncanny the way it coincides with how me and my brother felt about the game, including the below par performances of Varane and Vale but especially the decision to repeat the double battering ram formation up front after it had failed so abysmally in the Oxford game. We looked at each other when we saw the line up on the tube on the way to the ground and couldn’t believe he’d done it again. Despite that I thought we were very good for the first thirty-five minutes until they scored, dominating the game and playing in their half unlike so many home games I’ve seen in recent years, when we’ve looked like the away side as the opposition have pinned us back. But after all that possession you always knew it was likely to come back and bite us on the backside if we didn’t score. At the ground I was furious with Nardi but having seen the replays think the defenders were more at fault. And that save from Smallbone was like watching Donnaruma in action for PSG. In the end all we could say to each other on the way back was serves us right for being so optimistic and thinking we were going to win. Never has “it’s the hope that kills you” seemed more apposite to me.
And yet that back line of Gorkss, Connolly Clint Hill and Bradley Orr (after Christmas) was ditched as soon as we got promotion. It’s possible that Neil made a mistake in doing that.
After the protracted Bannan led celebrations in front of the Loft and SB when they scored against us last year, I’m hoping that we win and give them a taste of their own medicine when we score.
Yep, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of those a few years ago. It’s a great shame that he is no longer with us to continue the series into the reign of Mary and beyond.
I think the one thing that would make Ronnie want to leave Southampton to come to us is if he actually wanted to play games of football rather than sitting on the bench. Plus he now knows that he’s not even first choice for them at centre-back in the Championship so it’s incredibly unlikely that he would be if they went up again this year.
Brings back memories of playing against Hampton Hill nearly forty years ago. Having to stop play because of deer wandering on to the outfield was something I’ve never encountered before or since!
Looking forward to the second series of the French Special Forces drama “Dark Hearts” on BBC4 at 9pm on Saturday. The first series was excellent and is still available on iPlayer.
