Born in Amsterdam to two Dutch parents who moved to Spain when he was five so he grew up there and after playing at youth level for the Netherlands he finally opted to play for Spain.
The Dutch must be spitting feathers at losing such a generational talen. The way he advanced out of defence and played a stream of defence splitting passes to his forwards was indeed reminiscent of Benckenbauer for the oldies amongst us!

I think the away game in Serbia could be a bit of a wake up call. Apparently it’s been scheduled at a small stadium away from Belgrade to make the conditions as difficult as possible.

The papers keep quoting figures of Sunderland’s promotion boosting their income by £200 million.
I’d heard before of it being worth £100 million to promoted clubs but do people know if it’s really as much as that now? (Maybe includes the parachute payments if they get relegated).

Son has been a wonderful player for Spurs but his legs have now gone very quickly in a similar way to the state Park Ji-Sung was in when Ferguson unloaded him on us.
