I don’t get your first point Bosh. He’ll be 30 or 31 when the next contract ends, depending on whether it’s three or four years.That’s not old for a defender with an excellent fitness record so I don’t understand why we can’t or won’t offer him that?

I know that there’s a massive amount of hype about him anyway but I hadn’t really seen Yamal play since last summer’s Euros and last night reminded me of what a phenomenal player he is.
I know he didn’t score last night but he posed nearly all of Barcas attacking threat and they seemed very reliant on him to create things. The way he ghosted past the defenders even when there were two or three of them on him was amazing to see.

What you’ve said about Jimmy Dunne is absolutely spot on and something I feel very strongly myself. If he’s determined to walk away for better money or the desire to play for a club at a higher level then there’s nothing we can do about it.
But if the sticking point really is the length of contract for a twenty-seven year old who gives his all in every game and is one of our most crucial players then those making that decision are letting the club down very badly indeed.

Agreed Brian. Only being able to go to home games I’ve seen nothing of this improvement, which all seems to have taken place away from home.I’ll have to trust the word of those who’ve witnessed it but it’s very difficult to forget the numerous performances I’ve witnessed when he’s been like a passenger and largely invisible.
As he’s our player, for whom we’ve paid a lot of money and on a long contract, we have little alternative to hoping that his improvement is maintained and he can function effectively in the Championship next season but I would hope that we’re also looking to strengthen our midfield with someone faster, stronger and more combative in case this doesn’t happen.

I felt the same way.I’ll probably renew but wanted to get some idea first of how much of a clusterf——k next season looks like being so I rang the box office and they said you have until before the first game to make a definite decision.
