The beeb weather forecast suggests the wind will be around 45mph, but only 20mph by the end of it. The coin toss could have a bearing today. |

Just hope the weather allows for a decent watch tomorrow. It’s about time we won there. Have put up numerous good performances and it’s our turn to win. Come on Dale let’s have it. UTD |

Seems hie’s was unattached, so I think it will take more than a couple of weeks to get match and longer to get sharp. Make me think this is a more long view signing than needing to cover injury doubts. He has played lots of football at a higher level, without being prolific. But the same can be said about Devante Rodney. Interesting, even a sign of strength perhaps. Having said all that he will start tomorrow. |

For sure fitness levels aren’t low given how we have played this season. If the intention was to rest the captain and Dev as much as possible and still win, that can become a dilemma. If you play them from the start , which I have advocated for previously, and you still go in one down at half time? It is then almost impossible to take them off, as desired, while you’re still behind. It’s all subjective but I can see the manger’s point of view. Plus Rodney seems to play well at FGR, and no mistake that is the biggest challenge of the season so far. Happy to cut the management some slack, they’ve earn that. We are still the most consistent team in the division. It’s all about Saturday now. See you down there. UTD |

Just seen the highlights, Omar Gould!! what a performance that was. See what the thread has been saying about it could have been 4 or 5. Have to say again how wrong I was about McBride, good on you son for sticking it to me. What I like about him is his “ b-locks to this waiting until he can see the whites of the keeper’s eyes before you shoot lark” he is full of confidence right now. The whole team is brimming with confidence and imposing themselves on teams. It can’t last as teams will really park the bus against us soon enough and we will still need to win ugly games. Will Halifax do it, not sure their fans would appreciate that in a local derby. FGR won’t as we know Savage still thinks there the best in the league.. Got my accomadation booked for that game and really looking forward to it. Rodney always seems to play well there. TBH I am already dreading managers being sacked in leagues 1 or 2 because Mcnulty’s name will be in the discussion. Enough of that I’m just going to ride this great wave while it lasts. UTD |

Fascinating fixtures this weekend. 6 of the top seven take each other on. It wouldn’t surprise me if the 3 games ended in draws. The Southend manager was none too happy in midweek, so they should come out firing as should Carlisle. We can impose ourselves on them on Saturday, but they will have periods of the game where they are on top. We have the side to beat them and I think we will. If we beat them, then draws in the next other two games will suit us nicely. Safe journey to all those travelling to the match. UTD |

I liked him as a player, always whole hearted effort and not without skill. |

If we were 4 up at any stage of the game against Carlisle or FRG I’d be delighted cos with the spirit in the team we would see it out for a victory. I believe we are the side most team’s fear in this league. No other team has only dropped points in one game. This league demonstrates time and again to expect the unexpected when it comes to results. Look at Solihull last Saturday. You can only judge a team on the opposition they face and 8 times out of 9 we have had the answer (one could argue mitigation for the loss). Sam Beckwith said after the game that we fear nobody. Music to my ears. Great time to be a Dale fan. UTD |

That performance left a warm glow. The press was great and Solihull literally struggled to get out. I would have had my mortgage on Rodney to score in the first minute and thought we might regret that chance, but we were always in control. Amantchi passed the test very well and led the line far better than Mitchell ever could, without being Mani D. A reassuring position of not being fearful if Mani is unable to start, scoring 4 without him is a strong statement. Not easy to nominate a man of the match, but Beckwith just nudged out East for me. Although the team as a whole were the real winners. Could it be that McNulty knows more about this management business than we thought? Or at least is learning fast. Strange this league, these beat York on Saturday who in turn hammered Carlisle tonight. UTD |

Just got back. Was in the Commrades Club when the news came through that the game was off. The self deprecating humour and banter of the crew in their managed to overcome the frustration off a 500 mile round journey only for the game to fall foul of the elements. Don’t want to point a finger at anybody for this, Noah would have struggled on the day. Will be back up for the rearranged fixture, but that will of course be a school night for most, reducing the celebrations of a Dale success. It was still a decent weekend. |

Two days ago I hadn’t given the pitch a second thought, but as I prepare to set off in a couple of hours for a Dale centric weekend I am thinking “Dale are a different animal this season and won’t make a stupid decision re the use of the covers”. Fingers crossed. As for the game the basic rule of thumb is that if Gus Scott Morris plays well then Southend play well. Now I have already said I think Berkoe was a good signing for us, and he could do a number on him. However if he swaps flanks to go up against Allarakhia that could be more trouble for us. Southend have an injury doubt about the forward Kendall. The local rag has gone silent about his prospects of playing, which makes me think he will be in the side. If not the Southend fans see Hopper as a significant downgrade. Rather like Mani being missing for us. The last Dale win I saw against Southend at Spotland was the crucial 1-0 win relegation battle win.it’s time for it to happen again. I see a tight game with the Dale edging it. Berkoe was the standout player on the night. Even when he played out of position he looked capable. Good signing. McBride is better than I realised last season. He looked a yard short of pace last season, but that must have been a figment of my imagination. He has cemented the position of being an early change on first team match days. Agree about Burger sending a strong message. He is a decent player at this level, but I’m left with the impression he doesn’t have the maturity to deal with competing to get on the bench and then for a starting spot. He needs to make a different statements than the one the other day. So far so good. It’s good to be in a position where Brackley aside we are only finding small bones to pick over about the management. |

Interesting perspectives. I think when your team is behind and rallies, the temptation is to say the opposition were coasting / in second gear and still in control. When you’re teams leading and that happens the tendency is to say you have lost control. Last season you saw it on here a lot that the opposition were in second gear, we need to get used to being the team in second gear, may be? However maximising control is the most comfortable for the fans, if more tiring for the players, but I like control. |

Have we found our new Grant Holt? He couldn’t resist keeping the referee busy and while Mani isn’t a player who kicks opponents as much as Holt he just finds ways to get booked. Personally I was surprised he hadn’t been subbed by the time he was booked. But that is probably my Dale supporter living in Southend syndrome kicking in a full week ahead. But the lad should be professional enough to avoid a booking. Poor tbh. A team isn’t one player and there is now an opportunity for someone to step. Here is hoping. Still can’t weight to be back at Spotland next week. |

Pye was released along with all the other senior academy graduates when Botters was running the club. Let’s see if this Edward’s move happens. I expected him to go out on loan, rather than a potential sale to Stockport. Going into the Stockport U21’s would be a retrograde step for, but if he genuinely can’t make our squad I suppose what is the down side for him personally? |

While I can say I love football decisions like this make me realise I’ll never understand what goes on in some owners minds. Pathetic. |

Second look at them this season. We need to.get used to these performances because if we are going to keep winning at home the no pressing tactic will be used against us in almost every game. It never got the pulse racing at any stage. Have to say McBride has more about him than I thought last season. He certainly fully occupies opponents. Whatmuff is looking fine, good handling and imposes himself. To be honest Sutton deserved a point on the balance of play. We will play much better and lose. It’s a result oriented business and we got it. Odd but I am subdued and we are lying second, what’s up with me? |
