Got to be pleased for the lad. To get released and end up at a club that pay well and have a good record in the league must have been as good as he could have hoped for. Plus it is a lovely area of the country to live in. Kairo, get some sausages down your neck while you still can. |

Difficult to keep track of all the midfield options available. His CV is impressive enough with loads of league experience. The competition for places will be intense, which is no bad thing. It is possible that all of East, Gilmour and Edward will not be in the starting 11 on day one. Whereas I would have said before that would be impossible. Let’s hope this is a wise move and not a trend of accumulating players for a specific part of the pitch which we say last season. Will at least one contracted midfielder go out on loan. I can see it. Credit to the board for the backing. |

Borehamwood is an easy journey for me with the car park right outside the ground. Perfect starter for me other than it being a promoted side we play first. Third year running we have played a promoted side on the first day. The better test will be Alty the following week. |

Thanks for the post. Always reassuring when somebody has regularly had eyes on a new recruit and gives the thumbs up. |

The only stats I can find for him suggest he is 5 9” and weighs just under 10 stone. Kante was small but an excellent defensive midfielder. Mani being the exception. He could easily be the free defender at corners to attack the ball, similar to Calvin Andrew. Plus we defended well last year, but thus far we haven’t recruited much height again. |

Yep I can do the history, but think my comments will still apply. 7 years between the 3 of them ain’t a whole lot in my book. Still a fresh faced coaching set up may just work a treat. As I said time will tell and I am open to seeing how it comes together. |

First: Carlisle at home. Fine out what they have got Last: whoever is in second place with the title on the line between the two of us Xmas and New Year’s: Halifax at home, then Alty away. Important for me being in Essex that Halifax away is on a convenient weekend for me. Never been to the Shay and understand that Halifax I’d a decent watering hole. |
 | Forum Reply | Matty Done Returns at 18:58 7 Jul 2025
Again interesting. We will certainly have one of the most inexperienced management / coaching staff in the NL. As a player I was more of a fan of Done than many on here, but have no idea about his coaching capabilities. Never saw him as one of the the most vocal players when he was here, but that may not have any bearing on his influence moving forward. Time will tell. |
 | Forum Reply | French signing incoming? at 16:18 2 Jul 2025
He could be a very good signing, however I hope he is our last midfield dice roll because it is getting very congested in the midfield area. Not expecting any more than 2 or possibly three signings. Can envisage this being the last of the shopping until pro’s without a club start to get really twitchy. Bonjour. |

Interesting. Like Jim loads of playing experience but not so much coaching. Didn’t realise how few games he played for us, but shows that in my mind he had a really positive impact. I thought he was super for us, knew when and how to dish it out and never shirked a challenge. He could move the ball as well. Now, I can’t believe he is a carbon copy of Gibbins, who I wish well, so hopeful some blood and thunder will be injected into our midfield. Welcome back Jason. |

Imaginative thinking James. Many people have gone to the financial well at least once to help the club. If the day came when this would be needed I suspect it would be associates of the Ogden family that might step up. Not that that would be a bad thing. |

Interesting. Don’t know the lad but Physically he’s nearly 5 10” and has a strong looking neck. I may be clutching a straws but hoping he can be a real physical presence in midfield. Gilmour is very competitive but can sometimes be dispossessed purely by strength. I’ll take another midfielder of course but they need to be different to East, Barlow and Gilmour. Hoping this lad provides that. Like that he has had a little EFL experience and played for two top 10 teams in the National league. Happy. |

Well done TVOS. Hope you win it next year, but hope the Dale are far to rugged to win the Fair Play Award next time around. |

They will get the academy tier reinstated now. Not good for us. |
 | Forum Reply | Incoming ..... another club teaser at 13:49 31 May 2025
I’m probably fixated by the lack of height and strength in the squad, so was hoping I’d read that he was 6ft and loves to get stuck and break up play. Initial vibes are he is not that player. Hoping he has a bit of the David Speedie when it comes to aerial prowess. As TS says he might turn out alright and overall the recruitment has been up to scratch since we got relegated. |

Was speaking with my nephew yesterday who is a Southend season ticket holder. Was really surprised to find out every season ticket holder got offered 4 tickets for the final. I suspect Southend would have a minimum of 4k STH’s. So that would amount to 16,000 tickets being reserved for that purpose from just an original allocation of 17,500. Just seems an odd approach to me. I could understand them being given 2 perhaps. For those in a tight spot financially the prospect of selling tickets for more than face value might be difficult to resist. Have told the nephew they really need to do Oldham if nothing else to ensure the academy’s have the same status next year. |

Correct, unlike the 50k Hamas supports comment. |
 | Forum Reply | NL playoff final at 16:19 24 May 2025
Eh! Protests of many thousands strong take place in London regularly every year, plus big attendances for state occasions like Trooping The Colour. There has never and will never be a protest / demo in the name of Hamas as it is rightly a banned organisation. Bugger all to do with the Mayor. [Post edited 24 May 16:51]

Real turn around about the value of Hogan. When EEL was first reintroduced the prevailing view was to slaughter JM about the decision not to play Hogan. Now it’s a terrible decision to keep him. His stock has slumped badly in no time no time at all. Or are some people just fickle. The team had a good defensive record last year, the stats don’t lie. So keeping the two centre halves that played the most games, together with Gordon and Beckwith is logical to me. We are still one of the smallest and least combative midfield/ inside forward teams around. That needs to change ,tbh I think that two of TA, Burger and McBride need to be moved on. That would give us scope to get some quality in. However it’s a million that Jim will list any of the contracted players. |
