Absolutely quality pouring out of every area of the club, epitomised by a thoroughly entertaining performance tonight. Their keeper made a number of great saves to keep the score respectable. Great use of the bench tonight, given the next 3 games to.come. [Post edited 23 Sep 22:59]

Correct about the pitch covers. The overlaps are held down intermittently with sandbags. It is difficult to know how level the covers were, as people and moppers had been used all morning, so there was some rippling of the covers but no exposure of the playing surface. The sodden appearance of the pitch in a couple of areas was a real surprise to all. It's baffling how it has happened Water that was emptied/brushed off the pitch all drained away. I'm pretty certain we hired an inflatable dome before the Newcastle game, or maybe Spurs. When I say "we", it may very well have been the TV company. But they wouldn't have guaranteed yesterday's game finishing, in my opinion. As 49thseason calculated, there was thousands of gallons to deal with. |

I took a photo of measured jar on a wall near pitch/ groundsmans area. Your insightful input really does put the problems faced this week into the reality faced. |

Having spent 2 hours on the pitch today and witnessing the waterlogged areas as the covers were removed was extremely deflating. I did not see any holes or rips, nor any imperfect overlaps of covers that would allow the sort of ingress they has caused the areas to be unplayable, which they absolutely were. There was a measured jar pitch side that had captured 20cms of rainfall. Over what period, I don't know. Nevertheless, the water was relentless. Those moppers were like a ship, just displacing water as they progressed forlornly from one side to the other, weighing a tonne before being emptied, only to venture back again into the same flood. Clearly designed for much lighter events. I think it only fair that the club issues a statement about the state of the pitch before covers were deployed, because if the rain has breached the waterproof defence, what next? Great team effort, from Tony Pockney, Andy Duff, George Delves, Jim McNulty, Jason Taylor and many others with the groundstaff and fans. [Post edited 20 Sep 19:53]

No doubt the offences and punishment will be trivialised, the publisher of this publicly available information labelled a toxic trouble maker and there's nothing to see here folks, move on. #wrongunsouted |
