A three-game week, with a 1-1 draw against Millwall, a 1-1 draw at Swansea and a 1-1 draw today. That is effectively what has happened. I'm frustrated tonight, but I would have taken that last Sat morning. |

Agree about Preston, disagree about Wednesday. A point on the road nearly always a point gained in any circumstances (apart obvs. from Bramall Lane in 76....). The home draw with Oxford - that's the definition of two points dropped. |

Ah ok. Any sign of Chair, Poku, JCS, Esquidinha, Meaker, the bloke who normally sets the fire alarm off whenever we go to Wales, God, Shergar, Lord Lucan, the one missing sock from Juzzie's laundry and Messrs Loic Remy and Adel Taarabt even though this, technically, is definitely not a Championship play-off fixture? Probably all been said. A very decent performance with plenty of chances created. On another day. I just wonder about the psychology of being Scared of Success here. Is it simply that Millwall, in recent seasons, have sampled the heights of the Top Six (Top Half in fact) far more than we have and we're just not used to it - yet? It's Vertigo. But continue on our trajectory and it will come. To borrow from Clive in his preview, today's defeat in itself - not a problem (it's learning). Today's defeat leading to an 'Olly-QPR-style' Autumn/Winter Death Spiral - problem. [Post edited 18 Oct 16:47]

I thought a decent cameo from Our Man Paul last night. Caused the German defence a few problems in his time on the pitch and almost set up an equaliser. Very Well Done to him. Didn't get injured either, as far as I could see. |

Hobbs and Rhodes to open the batting, Foster and Barnes the bowling - no problem. England's Glory. 110-or-so years on, as said, Stokes the absolute key. With him 1-1 or 2-2, without him 0-3 or worse. A drawn series would still be a fabulous result imho. |

This. Shouldn't do but just does. I'm not alone. |

Good shout on Mike Fillery - good player, and I always remember that home game with Norwich (if you were there, you know) when he was booed literally every time he touched the ball and reminded of his previous connection with a certain SW London club. Felt sorry for him. |

Good points - but I have to ask, which 2 teams? Coventry and who? Vicarage Road was annoying & disappointing (especially first half), but not humiliating overall I'd say. |

Oui, c'est magnifique - but how would Monsieur Stephan accommodate Remy et Taarabt? |

Now that's just fantastic. Paul Smyth at Ashton Gate - it's psychology, I tell yer. And our Head Coach emerges as Le Roi of the three-game week, non? A tough game but the best result of the season so far I'd say, by a country mile. So now the Sheff Wed and Oxford draws are taken care of (5pts from the week is great work, Rangers - just not in the expected order!). And we have sealed that all-important 4th win inside the first 10 games which gives us a real solid foundation this season after a turbulent spring and summer off-the-field. This is really good for Stephan, for our CEO, for everyone connected with Rangers. It could just be the start of something. I really don't know what, but something.... [Post edited 4 Oct 17:24]

I see a comprehensive defeat here sadly to a established decent Championship side. 4-1 to Brizzle. The price of not beating Oxford - the game that really mattered this week. |

All good arguments on here IMHO but still the morning-after meh feeling of two points dropped if we want to progress. Repeat the same result Saturday, however, and it's definitely a prize point gained. Funny thing, psychology. [Post edited 2 Oct 8:05]

Excellent report again, Clive, covering all aspects of a very decent point. As you and others have said, it's all about Oxford now in terms of putting this draw into context. Of this 3-Game Week , Wed night was always going to be The Big One. Thank you. |
