That's a pretty mean-spirited quote from Nourry there on the website.

This is exactly the kind of professional attitude we require from our...checks notes...CEO...

Wait a minute, you mean to say you were less than 100% committed but you didn't need a week-long blitz of good news from the club to convince you to buy a ticket?

If you have a good story to tell, you tell it. If you don't, that's when you need the machinations and bull sh*t. And the pr company, of course.

The fact they have players playing for England at every age level and we don't tells you something about the respective academies.

The DS players just aren't ready for the championship on a regular basis. If you watched Morgan in the first team he offered legs, which was very welcome, but little else. In the DS he was putting his foot on the ball, picking out passes, organising his teammates. The gap between the DS and Championship is enormous.

Your last point is pathetic.

Dude, we literally had posters appearing on here out of nowhere and spending an entire weekend making definitive statements about what was going on behind the scenes in the immediate aftermath of Marti being placed on garden leave. Anyone who'd been on here long enough to see Paladin doing similar could see it for what it was.

Yes, it've very poor from lassel. The club also has people (person?) posting on the forum, which is probably worse.

Sunderland consistently have players in the England squads right the way through the age groups. We don't. You're not comparing like with like.

If we're relying on the DS players next year we'll be in big trouble. The best of them are still a year away from being capable of anything more than filling in occasionally for injuries.

Petrie is an odd one for me. I've watched him a few times for the DS and think he flatters to deceive at that level - and he's 21 so don't see him ever being a Championship player.

I haven't renewed yet either. I probably will, eventually, but I'm not exactly rushing to give them my money right now.

This is one of those times I stick up for Nourry, because not only is the policy correct but this is also the right decision.

Harry Murphy is a nice footballer, looks for space and has a good delivery, but he's tiny. Not just height but his entire frame, and he's 21 already. He makes Dembele look robust - and that's a player who has always struggled with injuries. Murphy might well have a career lower down the leagues but he'd get creamed in the Championship.

I try not to do this on here but, seriously, your comment on our squad strength is laughable. It's a L1 squad being kept in the Championship by a coaching staff finding ways to get results in key games.

Our owners have shown themselves to be so successful at running QPR they've decided to take that expertise to other, less well-run, clubs in other countries.

Cup final tangential thoughts.
at 22:16 16 May 2025

That Brentford fan is either being deliberately disingenuous or doesn't understand the situation. Brentford put a strong emphasis on their B team and have done for 10 years. They spend money signing players in the 17-19 age bracket and put them into the B team and aim to progress them either to the first team or sell them for a profit. The team they put out last night cost money to assemble.

They closed their academy in order to focus their attention on the B Team. However, UEFA have requirements for clubs entering their competitions, which Brentford wanted to aim for, and now the PL have adopted similar rules too, meaning Brentford have had to re-open an academy. It's a Cat 2, like ours.

I think your colleague was trying to downplay it because they lost.

Well that was fun!
.
I'm glad so many people turned out to watch and support the young lads, and it was a young team - apart from Murphy and Petrie, they were all 18/19 years old. That's a good thing.

Morgan the stand out, of course, using the experience he's gained this year to put his stamp on the game. It's also a good sign that, despite spending 6 months with the 1sts he was keen to play in these last few games. Great attitude. Same goes for Bennie who really didn't want to go off despite being unable to walk.

The back four did very well, standing up to a physical challenge. Esquerdinha took the plaudits obviously for his attacking verve and reading of the game, but I also thought Putman did very well against a very big and physical winger.

Tuck, as always, looked composed in midfield. I've said this before, but he's a proper footballer. Sees the game well, lovely passer. Sutton I thought started slowly but came alive in the second half with the ball at his feet and caused plenty of problems. Dillon worked his backside off against a couple of giant CBs, and really seemed to enjoy the challenge. Similar build and style of play to Heidar Helguson (knows how to win a free kick too).

Whatever happens over the coming weeks (some will likely be released) and years (most of these guys need L2/L1 loans) these players have done themselves and the club proud. I hope they enjoyed every minute of it and celebrate their success wildly.
