OMG the full bingo card. I must be a Nourry plant if I see some positives. As people will tell you I've been a member of this message board for years not some QPR mouthpiece. I don't think I said you couldn't post or what you should post. Just my reflections. Again with the opinions presented as fact with Warbs and Marti. Zero facts but sure you know what you know. Time will tell you say with Nourry but then you suggest he's using us a toy forsome vanity project. I'd say that's someone who's not waiting to see but has already decided. Your praise is very rare , which I think is unhelpful but you do you. |

Plus if someone keeps up with him, reads his passes, could be a valuable creative outlet too. I like the way he looks to bring others into the game e.g. Kolli's goal. |
 | Forum Reply | Walsh v Nardi (n/t) at 12:26 13 Aug 2025
Nah of course not. Point being he's played lots of professional matches to develop his game and hasn't fixed this whereas Walsh hasn't. I may be completely wrong but it seens easier to improve distribution, which seems to be more technique, to improving willingness to come for crosses and command your area which seems more ingrained. But those of you who've played goalie/coached this will know more than me. |

I have looked through your posts seeing you invitedme to, and they're a mishmash of speculation - Lee Hoos in 2023 apparently leaving to plan the World Cup, insults - calling the players fairies a particular lowlight and calling for us to be more like Brentford - oh the irony! If that's the quality of your evidence then I feel confident in challenging it. Your response is a classic one from someone who believes feelings = evidence. When challenged with a few facts you: 1) Change focus of the discussion: no longer talking about the project on your own thread asking about the project and somehow making someone who's been in charge for less than two years responsible for 30 years failure in cup games. 2)Name-calling: Stephan is a puppet for doing something you don't like. 3) Sock puppetry: implying that I think the last 30 years' cup record is acceptable. I didn't say that. What I have said is that when you have a lot of injuries I can understand prioritising the League because staying up is essential. There is a strong argument that we've overdone that on this occasion but I'm guessing neither of us know the data from the physios and the medical team. Maybe Stephan has been told to limit time of certain players e.g. Burrell to avoid injuries. I was told by a physio that a certain manager in the past ignored advice which led to long term injury. Your claim that Marti and Warbs were forced out for not toeing the line is not based on fact but opinion. I loved Warbs but he was backed with an expensive team and only reached 11th place with Andre Gray, Charlie Austin, Lee Wallace, Johansen and Austin none of whom were cheap or had resale value. Marti I've heard was touting for jobs after his first summer as well as this one. That and his record of moving on within 18 months from every job he's had is better evidence to me than the puppet theory. That plus his going to a parachute, much higher profile club. He did a lot for us but he's not a victim and neither is Stephan. I don't doubt your support for the club or your desitre to see us progress but I do question your excessive negativity. Your posts are so overwhelmingly critical that praise when it's due seems like a vanishingly unrealistic prospect and damning with very faint praise. [Post edited 13 Aug 12:12]

Me too. He doesn't tend to throw the ball in the net so his mistakes aren't so obvious as late-stage Rob Green. But he doesn't help his defenders out by going for balls he really should. His distribution is much better and he's better with the ball at his feet. Personally I think Walsh is marginally better on shot stopping. The difference is that Walsh is 23 and can improve. I don't think 31 year old Nardi can. |

It's absolutely true that you've been consistntly negative about the club, the board, the players. Point me to some positive posts of yours. If you find some it's overwhelmingly outnumbered by slagging everything off. Not even any attempt at nuance and balance. People keep repeating 'football is a results business' as if they've discovered the strhucture of DNA. Of course it is but it's also increasingly these days about maximising scarce resources, and building over time, at least if you're a smaller club like ours. The season we were spunking millions on Julio Cesar and Rob Green in the same squad Brentford were starting their project in League 1. They lost their first game of the season after a mass clear out of expensive old players and didn't come good until October that season. They ended up being promoted starting their path to sustainability in the Prem. We meanwhile spent millions on flashy toys with no resale value and ended up broke and still in the Championship. I thought we were doing that under Les but then we find out we spent so much money on Austin and Johanssen one season that we barely squeaked through FFP for the following two seasons, stuffing our chance to build any kind of squad for ages. That was because they listened to a fanbase that demanded short-term results over long term improvement. If you're not more excited by Burrell over a lumbering second time around, sitting in the stands Austin, Varane over a walking red card Colback, passionate, physical Mbengue over Christmas in Dubai Joel Lynch, 19 year old ex-Spurs Kieran Morgan over 27 year old lightweight ex-Spurs Tom Carroll then I don't know what to tell you. Of course there are issues: injuries is a massive one. Getting the balance right is another one. We desperately need Dunne, JCS, Frey back to provide some experience. Or some experienced loans like the Hayden one. BUT it's not even two matches in the Championship season and you're blathering on about results. We've literally played one Championship match that we drew. And as for the latest slur that Stephan is a puppet, couldn't it just be that a manager with a record of bringing on and developing young players is excited about the prospect of bringing on and developing new players. And that maybe he thinks two matches in is a bit early to throw in the towel. [Post edited 13 Aug 8:06]

You haven't exactly got a record of supporting anything the club does. You couldn't stand Les and Hoos too. It's difficult to take seriously a post from someone who has posted almost universally negatively about everything in the club and most of the players for years. |

Really liking Burrell so far. Assist for the goal and lovely break and shot across the keeper. Could have been a tap in if someone had been able to keep up. |

I understand totally why you don't agree with the approach but I don't understand why you can't see why they'd do it. For instance it's a nonsense to look at the next fixture and say, well we often don't win that one as if players are only injured for one match. It could be 3-6 months - look at Ale Faurlin. Secondly what do you think Stephan is ultimately judged on? If we get relegated but reach the fourth round of the cup he's offski and unlikely to get a decent new job. If he gets us to 7th in the league but out in first round of both cups he keeps his job/gets poached. Also average income in league 1 is around £10 million and the Championship £40 million. We haven't got a massive stadium or Tom Brady/ Ryan Reynolds to attract sponsors so we go down we could stay down. Also losing one match in the league could make the difference between staying up or not. Ask Luton. I know counter arguments about the fans, winning mentality etc. and not saying they're wrong but same as Leicester match. timing is terrible with all the existing injuries. I get why everyone peed off though. |

She's marvellous. She does a story/poem at the charity my daughter in law works for's Christmas Carol Concert every year and acts it out brilliantly and is lovely to all the staff. |
 | Forum Reply | Young players for the sake of it? at 16:11 11 Aug 2025
Well exactly. Fox and Colback only managed 2 games by November for the former and 4 games for the latter by January for a joint £30k a week. Not hankering after either of them. We do need some more players in, that's absolutely certain, and sort out our injuries. But that's no reason to tear the whole strategy up. [Post edited 11 Aug 20:11]

Should we merge this with the injury thread now? Might save some time. |

Or it could be that Burrell hasn't had a pre-season and has to be brought in slowly, Kolli is just coming back after injury, Frey is injured, Varane is unavailable and Morgan was playing RB. Of course it could be down to saving face for the man in the spinny chair strokng his white cat. I just don't know really.... |

Agree with all of this. Obviously there's a risk of over-cooking this strategy and leaving yourself short of experience and guile. Also accepting that some of these won't work out. But given the choice between a raw Mbengue and a Joel-Lynch lumbering around I know who I'd prefer to watch. I also think part of the strategy is hanging onto some of your best players hence new contracts for Varane, Morgan etc, which must've cost some of our budget for new players. |
