If you mean win/scoring incentives I'm not sure that would work either because presumably you don't get those if you're not playing. And frankly I only want him playing if we're desperate.

I don't disagree with your point in general though.

That's true Dave but that nine placement and the following season we literally went for broke and stuffed ourselves for the subsequent two seasons largely on Austin and Johansen so no long term benefit? We also spent £7 million on transfer fees. I obviously don't know whether Warbs wanted any of those players but he certainly had a big budget in QPR terms for his 9th place and 11th place.

I wonder if it's a very low ball offer hence his not accepting it immediately? He'd be okay on third choice money but I doubt he'd want to accept that?

I can understand the wariness, I really can. We're protective of our club and quite rightly. I just think some of what goes on here is way over the top so we can no longer be pleased about anything that goes well in the club so anxious people are to paint it in a negative light in case it's seen to be a win for Nourry. I get what you say about control freaks but arguably men of the people like Chris Wright (selling our training ground to pay for his divorce!) and Tony Fernandes (Sandro, Redknapp, Cesar etc.) can equally be disasters in football.

It would be nice to read a thread that didn't descend into slagging him off for every transfer, club announcement etc.

Also I'm not even sure Ben Williams was that much of a secret: we knew he was working remotely and also had another role. It was a big mistake though, definitely agree with that.

I'm happy to be cautious and keep an eye on things but also some balance!

But when does any fan group know all the facts? Rangers fans still loathe Mark Warburton for walking out on them. He insists he was sacked. How much do we know about Warburton leaving QPR? Or Ainsworth? Or Holloway when he was put on gardening leave? There's always been rumour and counter-rumour in football. We never fully know the facts.

It's true we no longer know the length of players' contracts which I agree is silly because any other club wanting to know would just ask their agents. But many other situations like managers leaving/being sacked we've never known all the facts for both legal and commercial reasons. It's not just a Nourry thing.

Well that's your interpretation based on nothing but your opinion.

I've given reasons for my possible interpretation. Him not having a new gig is your only evidence of anything. I don't know the reason for that and I'm guessing neither do you. But him touting himself around other jobs doesn't seem to support the 'he was definitely staying' theory.

The point is that we're both speculating. I can see why you feel confident expressing your viewpoint as it's a commonly held one. However it's no more 'right' because it's repeated a lot. I thought he was going to leave (and not because he's been forced out) and am not surprised he's gone although before this blew up I wanted him to stay.

I agree it's hard to stand out in a club that appears to be stagnating, which looked like the case from Marti's first to his second season. We know that it was a bit more complex given the injuries we had and the number of inexperienced Championship players. But the table carries a lot of sway. Getting QPR to say top 10 would be an achievement from our perspective but not eye catching. If on the other hand Marti gets a club like WBA to top six level and gets promotion that's a huge leap for him.

I don't get why people think he'd give that up cos he likes LR.

A further scenario is he loves the club/fans but is very ambitious and last season showed that staying here is unlikely to move him on in his career development. That's far more plausible to me given his seven clubs in the last 12 years record. Did he fall out with all the CEOs/dislike the formation he was made to play or did he just see the next step up the ladder? On the face of it he's played a blinder: signed a new contract on enhanced terms, got said contract paid up, at least in part, free to take up a new job having dodged the release clause with an enhanced profile in English football. A case of my lawyer is better than your lawyer?

We made a mistake in putting him on gardening leave I think but MC was going anyway IMO. The good news is we have a credible replacement and the MC saga didn't drag on longer. He definitely did a good job for us and generally think well of him but looking backwards isn't productive even though I love Ebs and continue to miss him.

That’s why I think it would make sense to have Smyth on the left. Chair would be better in the centre as he isn’t great on tracking back and hung Paal out to dry a few times last season (admittedly he wasn’t fully fit). I also like being able to pin back the opposition full back with Smyth’s pace.

I'm not sure who is in charge of the box office? Have they identified what the issue is? I know I once had a similar issue and they had to merge the accounts which resolved it.

Interesting first post.

There would be uproar on here if there was a first post praising the Board.

Genuinely I think you reach a point where you don't need that kind of networking. My husband's boss for example is on the Board of a massive company. My son, who's job hunting, sent her a link request. My husband asked one day if she wouldn't mind accepting it. Turned out when she checked she had 70,000 requests she'd missed. It would be a full time job to manage it and frankly they don't need it any more!

Not sure what the legal situation is though. The PFA are notoriously litigious and I can imagine if we don't let him train we could be sued for hurty feels. Knowing our luck anyway!

Know we can't read anything into it but certainly feels better than the 5-0 pre-season drubbing a couple of seasons ago against Oxford United both in squad compilation and performance.

Adamson the pick for me in the second half. But decent performances throughout the team. Nice to see Sutton involved and not remotely overawed.

I wish you'd been there to tell the Board not to buy Richards or loan in Laird, Roberts and Iroebugnan. i wonder what loan fees we paid for the latter three or wages for Richards.

Statement from the board
at 18:40 4 Jul 2025

I don't know about most Chairmen of football clubs but I'm guessing this guy is an outlier. i don't think most of them are so open and comfortable.

I can see Tony Fernandes as a reason why this Board aren't so open. I remember thinking I wish he'd shut up when he put the fanbase into meltdown with various ill-judged comments. Also you get a lot of people saying sack the Board on SM without any provocation. I'm not sure I'd give them too much extra material.

Even when they do explain things you get someone accusing them of lying.

Finally a lot of what they could say is probably subject to commercial/legal sensitivity. For example I think we shouldn't know too much about how transfer negotiations were conducted for commercial reasons. I don't think we'll ever know the truth about Marti for legal reasons, however much some people claim to know the facts.
