I know he hit the post earlier but Celar boils my piss. No presence, no effort, not putting a single challenge in. Goes up for no headers. Not making runs. Rest playing OK, and certainly working hard. A professional athlete hwo doesn't put in the effort, if I was his skipper I'd be tearing him a new one
PS now watch him score :) hope he doesn't take the pen...
Some other threads have touched on this, but would to dig deeper, apologies if done so already (couldn't find one)
I've read about the club putting in place a common system from youth to adult teams. Makes sense, especially an ethos and way of playing. But does it also lock us into playing 4-2-3-1 all the time?
Putting aside my personal hatred of a single person upfront and no wingers, there's 3 reasons I think this is nuts...
1) You're reliant on a position you can't afford. A striker who is big, holds it up, has pace, can finish. There are none, and if there are we can't afford them. Look at the problems Man U are having.
2) It's predictable - makes it easy for the opposition. Whereas if you mix it up you can surprise them, as I think we did vs Sunderland last game
3) You don't maximise the players you have at that time. As WWC said we have no fullbacks so maybe look at 3-5-2

Great point. I actually think a few of our strikers would benefit from 4-4-2, def Celar and prob Kelman.
Anyone else sick of one up top, ie 4-2-3-1? I miss the days of the big man / little man combo, and wingers swinging crosses into them. Perhaps I'm wrong but we did play 4-4-2 in our final game? Seemed to suit us...even Madsen in a midfield two (mind blown Emoji)
What formation do the Dev team play? (sorry to say not watched them this season, no I'm not a nourry bot I'm a Cliveaphile with two jobs)
These clickbait sites are rotten, we should ignore as more clicks means more £ for them.
I use newsnow to follow QPR updates and you can filter out all of those sites.
The downside? You're left with barely anything. With the sh1tty lack of comms from the club (bar the Dev squad), the only QPR stuff that comes up is WLS and articles from this site!
Adding my thanks for another season of brilliant writing. At a time when the mis management of the club makes me want to walk away, it's Clive's brilliant articles - and the high quality debate on this site - that keep me in. You Rs x
We won't hound you out? Let's see if you're still here in a year Charlie. You seem to be strangely interested in the number of post impressions.
You're acting very naive and defensive. You've been called out. This forum is full of devoted fans, and more importantly fans that are by and large balanced, intelligent, and try to base things on what they see travelling around the country overpaying to see a largely failing team. That is the only evidence they can base their views on, as the comms strategy under CN is to tell the fans feck all and use spin and PR to try and hoodwink them.
I was sad when I started reading this thread. But then uplifted seeing how all of the old heads called you out. A good football club is not run by PR. It's run by being honest open and respectful with your fans, and involving them in trying to build the better club they want and deserve.
Utterly brilliant writing - compelling, funny, on the mark. Clive's match reports are one of the best things about being an Rs fan. And let's be honest theres not many of those things left thesedays.
Let's hope he is picked tonight and we give him a standing ovation
This will have been a tough period for him with all the speculation. Like the fans did for Marti at his lowest point this season, the fans sang his name and the love of the club turned things around. Let's do the same for Jimmy and hope Nourri backs it up with the sort of contract he clearly has earned and deserves.
Well I'm not sure we sang for Celar and can share credit for his two brilliant goals last night. Most of us wanted him sent off to pasture.
But I think the fans going to the games (not me) deserve a shout out for sticking by Marti (in particular) and the team. This club does not deserve the amazing support it's had this season. Huge respect to all of you who attend each match and keep singing and believing
Why not try it? Let's get behind him, clap him, sing his name. Worth a try. We can't get another striker for two months so we need to work with what we have. With that snapshot he sent just wide of the post second half, that was hopefully something to build on.
Random one... Was very moved by this short documentary on Netflix. Close to my heart as about how therapy can turn around a man's life. And how that then created an act of kindness that spread to a whole baseball stadium, and turned the fortunes of a failing star player.
It is hard to recall how good we were end of last season. And there's been flashes of it in games this season.
But something is seriously wrong in the club. All of us guessing but it's not a happy camp and confidence is shot.
I've always defended Marti and want him to stay. But I was at pompey game and some ropey managerial decisions. Picking Fox. Playing 5 at the back, when it's the midfield (and Madsen) that needs bolstering, not Steve Cook. Bringing on the young lad who looked good but not physical enough. Bringing on Smyth and Kaito (how did he not start??) but then not pushing them on... I was in line with them, he had them as full backs in a back 5. I was losing my shit...we're 2-1 down at home to the bottom side, 20 mins left, and still have 5 at the back, with our wingers not up the pitch. Marti can't be devoid of blame, it was poor for all to see
On a bright note Chair made chances. If he'd taken the two it couldve been different, but this looks a team just as confused and fragile as we did under GA
I love Eze too...but looks who pushed him out: Bellingham Foden and Palmer. Jesus what an embarrassment of riches England has in that attacking midfielder / 10 position. Palace mate said he's playing OK but struggling with being sole creative burden since Olese left for Bayern
