I was not including bank holiday mondays, boxing day, new years day games when they fall on a weekday.

I was only looking at the ‘regular’ midweek games.

Indeed…he is at his best in these 1 on 1 ( or 2 on 1 in this case) interviews. Sounds relaxed, honest and not trying to BS. One interesting point for me was him saying how he didnt want Murray to leave. In later transfers he always claimed he wouldnt stand in the way of a player bettering himself (Matt Done to Sheff U was the classic example given we were fighting them at the time for promotion). I wonder when his attitude towards players leaving changed. Maybe thats in Part 2!

Well 50:50 split for our non holiday midweek games which suggests a sharing out of the two days.

Yes, cricket used to have raised covers …was it to avoid the pitch ‘sweating’? But now flat covers tend to be used I think. There must be some reason.

FGR also playing Wednesday at Boston. Will they be resting players I wonder? I think I know the answer. Lets face it we should be playing our strongest side in all our league games at all times in an effort to avoid the crap shoot of the play offs

Incidentally we have traditionally played our midweek games on Tuesday which gives us around 90 hours between Tuesday and Saturday. The gap for wednesday evening games to Saturday is around 65 hours. OK the time between previous weekend and Tuesday is less but still around 75 hours. Tuesdays seems to provide more balanced times between games.

No discussion yet on the new NFL season. What a start with that game for the ages by the Bills…the last opening day at ralph wilson stadium before the bulldozers move in.

Not sure if the Bills can last the season with that defence ( sorry Deeefence!) but time for improvements.

How could it be a masterstroke...we lost the game against a part time team. The worst possible outcome. Surely we could have expected more than 3 points from the last two games given the opposition (and our form going into the weekend).

So soon after his sparring partner Peter Lever as well.

Not sure how many of that ashes winning squad are still going…other than Boycott of course.

Wont be as easy as last time when we used the power of shareholders to block the cowboys. With fans shareholdings now watered down if ever cowboys get a look in in the future we will need to look to different stategies.

Yes…the season from hell, 73-4. But in that game it was the incompetent officials responsible.

Pretty pointless rule if it can be subverted so easily.

Clearly our brainstrust are far smarter than those responsible for the rule.

I suspect most folks would have read that to think it referred to a chain of stores as opposed to a worldwide social movement. But I suppose there is only so much you can fit on a railway bridge.

Yes he did…One of the few times we got out of our own half. Villa playing in third division. Dale lost 7 of last 8 before that game. Villa top of the division having won 7 of their last 8 including a 6-0 thumping of latics at boundary park.

Dave Cross headed goal v Coventry in our FACup giantkilling game in 1971…immortalised on the front cover of the programme in 1972.

But the Henderson goal v Leeds mentioned above in another giantkilling act is a close second.

Third place ….Reg Jenkins screamer from a free kick outside the area at Bolton in the league cup in 1969. A bit of a fraud to say I saw it…nobody did…particularly Boltons goalie ( England international Eddie Hopkinson I think)
