Played for Wales alongside his namesake Ron Davies. Both were a handful for defences. |

Yes I remember Mike Pooles first season too. I wake up sweating in the middle of the night, it was 1973-4 season. |

Rarely much positive to say about that organisation but this is an exception. A great tribute and well done United. |

Earlier this month a new plaque was unveiled by the Canadian Government’s Parks Canada to mark the founding of the Cooperative Union in Canada in Hamilton Ontario in 1909. This replaced the original plaque in the centre of the city that noted the organisation was based on the ‘Rochdale pioneers model’. Sadly the new plaque makes no mention of Rochdale. |

India are unlikely to play Bumrah in all five tests and it seems like they were managing his overs in this one. Thats a good sign for England for the rest of the series. |

Its funded by the Saudis…who just happen to have been given the hosting rights for the world cup. Not the I would suggest these two things are linked of course. |

Only man to play for Scotland at football and cricket I think. |

Anyone planning on going down for the Ashes? The Aussies seem to have screwed up the ticket sales this week. I managed to get tickets for me and a mate for the Gabba test and he is staying on to go to Adelaide and got tickets for that but it was a real process. Lets hope their cricket team is as big a mess as their ticket agency (or agencies, they have spread ticket sales over Ticketek and Ticketmaster). |

Tone of this is a touch threatening. Wouldnt they have the same effect by doing the usual early bird discount for those buying early? If they dont use ‘the right to increase prices’ after the deadline wont some of those committing early feel a bit miffed at paying now instead of paying (the same amount) later? |

Do they have more clout than us…..might impact whether some individuals apply for the job. |
 | Forum Reply | Election of new Trust main board director at 22:37 25 May 2025
Might be worth finding out how other clubs that have fan members of the board organise things. I might not be working well at the moment but that doesnt mean it cant be organised to work better in the future. Certainly the job description doesnt appear to be in line with it being open to most fans/trust members. Is that a new job description or did Murray meet all those criteria. If itis new, who came up with it (and why), the trust or the board? |

While relations between the club and the supporters appear to be working well currently that is a feature of the current ownership. Nothing to stop less community mined and less supporter sympathetic owners being in place in the future. The CAB could be dropped at any time should current or future owners wish. Id like to see the supporters representative on the club board continue, whether that be via the trust or some other route. Its important for supporters to have a vote in the boardroom. Particularly since shareholders have effectively been disenfranchised as a result of the new ownership model. |

It was the supporters club who did the half time sheet collections. |

Yes. I think in the late 60s there was a caravan that sold programmes between willbutts and pearl street. That was before the ‘ development’ of the club entrance and changing rooms in the early 70s. The club shop was part of that development. Before that the changing rooms and club offices were all separate buildings and the main stand was essentially wooden benches for most part. I think it held about 450 spectators. The rest of the ground was standing only. And some on here will remember the stand roof caving in under the weight of snow …think it was in early 1967. The original supporters club produced an annual yearbook from the late 50s to around 1966. I have them somewhere. They will be informative about the members of the committee. I know at one stage Cyril Smith was involved. Ill take that no further! |

Are any of them signed by Major League Cricket? Blast clashes with that and we know which pays the most. |

not that I am aware of. Trevor and brian took over running the reformed supporters club about 1978 from stephen birch, eric rodgers and brian holt. They were regulars on the supporters club bus to away games along with Brians dad (i think he was called Brian) and his brother (david?) I think Jack and Alan helped Jimmy Schofield in the old programme shop on Cheetham Street. I remember Alan serving me in there several times. |
