Wont be as easy as last time when we used the power of shareholders to block the cowboys. With fans shareholdings now watered down if ever cowboys get a look in in the future we will need to look to different stategies. |

Yes he did…One of the few times we got out of our own half. Villa playing in third division. Dale lost 7 of last 8 before that game. Villa top of the division having won 7 of their last 8 including a 6-0 thumping of latics at boundary park. |

Dave Cross headed goal v Coventry in our FACup giantkilling game in 1971…immortalised on the front cover of the programme in 1972.
But the Henderson goal v Leeds mentioned above in another giantkilling act is a close second.
Third place ….Reg Jenkins screamer from a free kick outside the area at Bolton in the league cup in 1969. A bit of a fraud to say I saw it…nobody did…particularly Boltons goalie ( England international Eddie Hopkinson I think) |

The other thing that has been lost that impacts on bowlers was the rest day. Tests started on a Thursday and finished on Tuesday with Sunday being a rest day. So a 5 test series was spread over 70 days. The current test series was confined to 46 days. |

Indeed…and yet the powers that be continue to push tests into an ever decreasing corner.
Teams can no longer play their best 11 because players and in particular bowlers need to be managed.
used to be that there was a regular 10 day rest between tests and the series went from early June until late August…and you could pick your best players for every test.
Getting to the stage where Cricket needs a regulator as much as football. |

They start the long (in Burys case, very long) road to wembley this weekend in the extra preliminary round of the FACup ( thats the round for pub teams).
They have a plum draw, home to Liverpool …..South liverpool that is.

Earlier this month a new plaque was unveiled by the Canadian Government’s Parks Canada to mark the founding of the Cooperative Union in Canada in Hamilton Ontario in 1909. This replaced the original plaque in the centre of the city that noted the organisation was based on the ‘Rochdale pioneers model’. Sadly the new plaque makes no mention of Rochdale. |

India are unlikely to play Bumrah in all five tests and it seems like they were managing his overs in this one.
Thats a good sign for England for the rest of the series. |
