Le Shrugs thoughts post Plymouth stuffing.
at 10:57 13 Aug 2025

It's all a bit of a weird one. If we had won that last night the narrative would have been quite different today, I believe. I might be wrong. There were mistakes that led to Plymouth's goals, you kind of expect it but also I believe Nardi was at fault for two of them.

I also see people saying, that it is clear that the club doesn't want to win anything. At the moment, that is true. That objective isn't even in our near future. Once again, due to mis-management we are at the beginning of another process. Finally the club has realised that we have to go back to what we always were, a selling club. Buy cheap(ish) and sell at a profit by developing players. Our team develop comes from developing young players, rather than buying ready made players. This means that sometimes, we have to use certain games to aid the long term approach. We now have an aggressive strategy with our youth players as that is where our money will come from which will hopefully in time help us to progress not only in the league but also cup competitions. I didn't have a problem with the team selection and thought many of the players did well. Thought our two centre backs showed good promise. Vale wasted and left back too. However, we should have at least had some experience either in the team or on the bench. When it got to 2-2, bring a couple of older heads on. Sadly as well, when Burrell went off, I think we were in trouble. He was a great outlet. Pace, strength but also good positioning to maximise this. The way he peeled off the centre back to get his header in for the first goal, was good. Now I watched the game from home and I applaud those who went and fully understand frustration. I know the club suggested a few youth players would get a chance but if they are going to do something like that again, maybe they should be even more transparent. So what if it gives the opponents an advantage, we kind of already are by using the game as a development tool. So now we just wait hopefully for the Kone announcement, as it would be a very good time for that news to help people forget what happened the night before. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion and be emotionally invested and who am I, or who are we to ridicule that. I do believe some of the comments however are a bit too emotionally charged when talking about Nourry picking the team etc and not wanting to win. We are at the beginning of a long road, like I said and yes winning games would help us get there quicker, but if we want to have a sustainable model, then development of our youth players is a must, I just think we could have sprinkled that squad with a bit more experience last night.

West London Sport now saying it looks like it might happen. Player has said he wants to join us and fee to be finalised. I think the main fee is agreed but the addons and details of that to be sorted. Would potentially be a good signing. I think the club have finally realised that it's not our style of play that prevents are strikers scoring, it's the fact they aren't very good and time to change it up

Whilst it is really frustrating, maybe just maybe the management and staff now stuff we don't. All this loading crap. Maybe he has a niggle or they need to bring him in slowly. Nothing to do with how they rate him

I do wonder if we are going to have our Usual Suspects moment where we discover that Beans and Stainrods Elbow post from the same IP address.
The total lack of self-awareness, the high and mighty, always right attitude, it's fine to have an opinion as long as it matches mine, tone of the writing is uncanny

Nobody even bother with a Dubois v Usyk Thread?
at 15:14 22 Jul 2025

Usyk is just so controlled. I was watching the fight and Dubois got that punch in, got a bit excited and came flying in. They are exchanging and but Usyk despite defending etc can see the exact punch to throw and when to throw it. I actually think Dubois could have made the count. He seemed to get it back together but waited until the last moment to start to try and get up. Almost like, he was game to carry on but couldn't make the count. Fury trying to get a third fight is a joke. Fed up with all his retired, not retired rubbish. Eddie Hearn saying AJ is still a contender and then actually giving this fight with Jake Paul some merit is a joke too

Anyone working Recruitment / Talent Acquisition?
at 21:05 18 Jul 2025

Sorry I read the title thread as you were looking for someone in that field to help with your query and search for a job rather than that was the area of work you had come from. So you probably know all the AI stuff I said

Anyone working Recruitment / Talent Acquisition?
at 12:22 18 Jul 2025

Hi

What was your line of work previously and also what area of the country are you based? Certain areas now have certain profile of jobs?
What is your preference? Similar to your previous line of work or something new using the skillsets you already have?

If you haven't already used AI before I would potentially look down that route. HR departments/ recruitment & talent acquisition use AI a lot more. They will use it to compare CV's to what their specific job role markers are. Therefore, use AI to help you craft a CV that AI will recognise, so to speak. You can also use it to compare your CV to job advertisements to see how compatible you are to the role you are looking at , and then decide whether or not it is actually worth your time applying.

My wife is in recruitment and got made redundant. She was lucky enough to be able to take some time out but when she came back, the market had changed. Companies are now paying a fraction of the salary that job use to command. It might be an option to get some contract work through an agency. Sometimes this is the best way into a company. You get to hear about potential jobs coming back and you are already in the company. In many cases, companies like to hire from within where possible. She wasn't even getting interviews for jobs she was overqualified for as they knew that expertise came at a cost that they wouldn't pay. She finally made inroads when she started to get a handle on AI and use it to help her

Expat Friendly v Stevenage
at 13:40 6 Jul 2025

I'm really intrigued to see as we start the season after about 10 games what players will step up to be classed as '1st team starters'

Dembele and Poku vying for the same spot or will one of them play off a striker. I always felt one up front didn't work for us as we didn't have players with the athleticism to run beyond the striker. I feel we are starting to get that now.
I liked Kelmans movement yesterday and he seems quite the unit now.

Chair Dembele and Poku is quite an exciting proposition and that doesn't even include Vale who looks a proper footballer. From what I saw yesterday, playing him as a left back as some thought might be the case, would be a waste of his talents

Whats going on. No signings or contract extensions for at least 24 hours. I know there is still a lot of time but had anyone heard any more murmurs out potential signings coming in? I wonder if any more transfers in now depend on a certain person moving on from Palace

Come on England.
at 22:53 28 Jun 2025

Personally think he should have been kept on and given time with the senior side. Why we've suddenly decided now we have to win the world Cup which means any manager isn't looking to develop the team or players within the whole system

QPR complete head-turning acquisition of Peterborough’s Poku – Signing

I think Kolli has a lot of work to do if I'm honest. He has a lot of confidence but I really think the best thing for him and his develop is to go out on loan.

QPR complete head-turning acquisition of Peterborough’s Poku – Signing
at 15:36 28 Jun 2025

I'm looking at this signing and the guy from Reading as players expected to start in the first team. I do wonder about the aussie right back too. With that in mind it does make me wonder how we start the season. Dunne at right back still, JCS and one other.

Is Vale staring at left back?
Poku, Dembele and chair behind a striker? All very interesting and a few nice possibilities and combinations

I liked Saito but he lacked genuine pace. He was quick over 10 yards and sharp but I believe Poku is genuinely quick and powerful
