I was just about to say the same thing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse penalty shootout.

Glad this thread is resurrected! Yes I’m seeing a Texan, and we’re getting married tomorrow!

As others said, it’s really the only game in town.

You do need to be persistent, don’t be creepy and take some nice photos. Us guys don’t take as many as women do but make sure they’re recent pics . Also, ladies like voice notes so they know you’re genuine.

Speaking to my partner about her experiences from a women’s POV, she said so many guys would just use one liners, not make the effort so make sure your first ‘shot’ references things she said about in her profile, show an interest in their hobbies.

Living in oxon, I wouldn’t get many matches on bumble after a few days unless I went into London (location based matching) it’s definitely harder when you live in a small town/village

Good luck

In the minority probably but someone mentioned Wrexham, I quite like what’s happening there. The tv show was good too

You pretty much have to wait every 8 years. But since they added the 17th game, it could be a possibility that it’s sooner. The scheduling for the 17th game is so complicated.

Moving to the USA?
at 21:52 12 Jun 2025

Thought I’d give an update on my last post back in February.

So I went back to Texas for the Super Bowl, my girlfriend was having pain in her left arm so she went for a CT scan scan, then an MRI, I extended my stay by an extra week. She ended up being told she needed to have an operation to replace a disc in her neck

I arrived back home late February. Within a couple of days of me arriving home, she got her appointment date for early March to have an operation. So I went back for two weeks to help with the convalescence. The surgeon replaced a disc with a titanium/ceramic disc.

Everything went well and she came to England for five nights over Easter, to meet my sisters and Mum properly as Christmas time was a bit rushed. She also got to meet my friends. We did a day at Lords for Middlesex County cricket, Warwick Castle, Bath and Bourton on the water.

I went back to Texas three weeks ago, stayed for two weeks, and proposed, we are now engaged.

We are looking at getting married late July, then she is going to petition for me to move there by completing the I-130 form. This will take around a year to approve, high success rate, I can apply for a green card once this is authorised.

The plan going forward is for me to work three weeks in England and one week in Texas. Fly out every four weeks. this should be sustainable for a year.

As someone that’s not religious, that wasn’t brought up to be religious, I’ve been going to Catholic Church to try and understand it all. Her and her family are Catholics…also for what it’s worth, Democrats.

Farken Pollen
at 18:29 6 May 2025

At Lords on Saturday, I sat outside at the Lords Tavern and I could see the pollen in the air. It was covering cars in a light dusting. I could not stop coughing to the point I had to have a yoghurt to coat my throat and wait for the antihistamines to kick in.

No, a tie is when scores are level, its different to a draw.

I went to Lords Saturday and it was glorious weather. Sunday, I was wearing gloves and a scarf.

Couldn't get back Monday but watched the last hour on YouTube, what an advert for red ball cricket.

I hope they don't reduce games from 14 to 10/12.

After play, as usual, was having a beer in the Lords tavern and all the players and coaches come in. what other sport would this happen?!

As a fan of all the Jason Statham films, his last two have been awful. Beekeeper and working man. Bizarrely both are set in America but blatantly filmed in England. It looks so silly seeing English flats/houses passed off as American. And the streets. They just use left-hand drive American cars.

As big a crowd for a county championship game at Lord that as I can remember. Glorious sunshine, which makes a change for opening day. Annoyed Middlesex got bowled out for so little, yet they made the biggest first innings score in the second division…clutching at straws lol back again tomorrow

Update

She came over to Oxon/London for a week over Christmas and loved it here. Then I went back out with her to Texas for a week to see in the new year. Best NYE ever.

Heading back there this Friday for the Superbowl and Valentines lol for 10 nights.

We're seeing how it goes this year, She's worried I'll find it too hot there in the summer but so far so good.

We text all the time an FaceTime most days, still in the honeymoon period I guess.

All from a Bumble match too, crazy.

Villa v celtic
at 12:33 30 Jan 2025

I was at the game (been to villa more this season than rangers )

the atmosphere was amazing, the Ozzy flag thing was cool too.

I was in the Trinity lower and could see Celtic fans being escorted out of various home seats, was quite funny. "You've seen the villa now fcuk off home' was sang to them as they were being escorted.

The Celtic fans were loud, their choice of songs was vile though.

Dry socket

I had dry socket a few years ago after having a tooth removed at the back, bizarrely the dentist used cloves and the pain relief was instant and it didn’t bother me anymore.

Moving to the USA?
at 20:31 19 Dec 2024

August 2016 we went to New York and we were queueing for around three hours in immigration. There were one or two people on the desk for foreign citizens but they kept letting through American citizens to use our line as overflow. And then a load of troops came in and went to the front. That’s the worst experience I’ve had.

Boston- i’m a director of a water treatment company (legionnaires disease and bacterial testing mostly). That’s all I’ve done since college. Health and safety laws in America differ massively. I think I would try facilities management and work my way up, kind of. Or try and slot straight in to water treatment.

A friend of my GF is in construction recruitment at high-level, he said he’d help me out with my CV etc

It’s exciting, I can’t wait to show her London and Oxfordshire over the next week
