Happy to see marketing initiatives to increase attendances but if you put another column in the OP table - "no of premier league grounds within 20 miles" you'd get a different perspective? |

On a quick first read we appear to have been awarded a Silver ('showing good progress' but not yet ‘regulator ready’) The scoring: Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards Each of the 164 clubs assessed were given an overall score across all eight of the areas covered by the Index. In addition, to ensure consistency of performance, clubs were also assessed on whether they met minimum standards in the four core areas that represent the primary focus of the Index of: ● Finance; ● Governance; ● Fan engagement; and ● Transparency. To achieve a Gold Award, clubs had to record a strong overall score AND meet the minimum standard, equivalent to a Bronze rating, in all of the core categories. Similarly, only clubs achieving this minimum standard in three of the four core areas could qualify for Silver; and for Bronze, they needed to hit the minimum in two of the core areas. |

It could also be that Allarakhia is a better attacker than defender - so far Pritchard looks a better fit in the role |

A view I share 100, but to be fair to the Trust directors their argument is that a significant majority of those who took part in the recent survey voted for the Trust main Board director to continue. The contrary argument was that the number participating was well below half the membership and that the lack of clarity around the role and person specification for the post and it's relationship with the CAB called the validity of the vote into question. The meeting accepted that the original vote should be honoured with the proviso that the subsequent further clarification by the Trust directors which DA refers to may lead to further review. Hope this doesn't also muddy the Trust minutes. |

if we're looking to build a more combative squad and if Ferguson isn't deemed good enough all 3 need to be moved on for me. |

Agree with much of that but the key difference is about a mandate. As far as I understand it, the CAB are a group of individuals selected by the Club and whilst they are from different fan demographics they aren't elected by that demographic nor are they accountable to anyone. The Trust has elections or surveys to decide representation and policies - we can at least propose a meeting of the Trust to discuss and decide on issues (as in this thread); we can't do that with the CAB. |

what types of players are you looking to recruit? what alternative formations will be needed next season and in what situations? what alternative tactics/personnel are you planning to use to overcome low block opponents? What are you looking for in your choice of captain? What sort of improvement will you look for in the PR about team selections, performances and ambitions? and for the Board - what annual criteria are you using to measure the success of the 3 year plan to achieve EFL status? |

I've no idea what our playing budget was this season or how that ranks in the league or who McNulty tried to sign or who was or wasn't available but he's delivered 4th place, a historically good goal tally and home record, and a cup semi final.... so he starts next season. But, yes the Board should have set him criteria for progression over the 3 year plan including squad make-up and style of football and as Fitz argues some of those criteria should be made public. That would include an improvement of in-game tactical & personnel flexibility or at least a reflective explanation of choices made. The interviews are a problem - both lack of challenging questions and his answers; indeed that reflective explanation might attract fans, but as others have pointed out other managers (eg Hill) weren't immune from poor PR. Certainly comments like not being ready for the EFL whilst no doubt intended to take pressure off players send the wrong message to fans - good PR can be learnt. I've also no idea if there are any experienced proven National League Managers available if he was sacked. How do you guarantee that the strengths of McNulty's leadership (Daley Lama's post) won't be lost with a new manager? As to the belief he can't change - wasn't the acquisition of Bird proof that he did know some of what the squad lacked - maybe he tried and there weren't such players available earlier? Certainly he will have to deliver continual improvement and if Cedar Room is right that he is more Southgate than Ferguson the Board will need options in 9 months time. Indeed I've no idea how you guarantee success in any part of life - not doing the same thing that doesn't work sounds so insightful but several thousand years of wars & famine suggest we humans aren't brilliant at that. |
