Well well well they are now saying the accused is an ex Royal Marine commando. Funny enough I thought it possible ex police or forces, when I seen the cut of his gib, his mannerisms, dress, look, behaviour from the footage of the incident, some people were even wondering if he was a 'glowie' gone rogue. |

It's because of the 2008 banking crisis, nearly all jobs in the UK after inflation are earning less than they were back then, junior doctors are no different to most other jobs when comparing spending power now to spending power then, yet if you listen to them you would think its only their wages lagging behind 2008 when the reality is most other peoples wages are lagging behind 2008 also, unless you are a footballer, plumber or train driver I would guess. Nothing wrong with the argument but the example of an accountant is poor, accountants I know are not very clever in fact the accountants I know can't even count, it's all entering info into computers who do the counting but because they aren't good at mental arithmetic then if they enter in the wrong data they get incorrect figures and don't realise because they can't count in the first place. |

I don't know anyone that thinks doctors should earn less than plumbers, not sure what circle's you move in that people think that. A computer can beat a chess grandmaster these days, people did not think that would be possible back in the day. |

The argument is they are already getting paid what they deserve, they get paid more than most other countries doctors and who is going to pay for it, money doesn't grow on trees. When Nye Bevan created the nhs and was asked how he got the doctors on board he said "by stuffing their mouths with gold". They have always been well paid. |

On the same subject I was talking to someone from the Ferry the other week and they said the worse thing the authorities ever did was build the original Briton Ferry bridge, I said why is that and they said because it let the Mushers come over and crime went through the roof. I assume he was joking |

All mushers seem to be on drugs to me, the way they talk, the way they look and mentally they don't seem to be all there. |

You don't know if train drivers deserve their salary ?, they are responsible for the lives of tens of thousands of passengers every year, go past a red light or go too fast over certain sections of track and it's game over. |

Exactly it's about Doctors in training in their first year due to their wage being brought up by you I believe regarding their first 12 months of training, but you then go on to talk about brain surgery. |

That doesn't look good on the police force up there if that is the case, telling the public and press he was held on suspicion of this and that and then not charging him for those things. |

First year doctors in training are not doing complex operations on their own, they will get the big bucks when they have served their apprenticeship for want of a better phrase. |

I thought that he was originally held on suspicion of multiple attempted murders and driving under the influence of drugs ?, isn't that what was reported as said by the Merseyside police ? |

They are supervised during their first year, if they are not millionaires by the time they retire they can't be any good at looking after money, such will be their earning capacity over those years. |
 | Forum Reply | Liverpool at 18:28 29 May 2025
So does it mean he has not be charged with attempted murder and not be charged with driving under the influence ? |

44k for somebody to constantly hold their hand for a 12 month before a wage increase is not that bad considering the lack of responsibility at that stage. Then they are on their way to being millionaires. |

44k is more than the average wage and that is just the first year with somebody constantly holding their hand, so there is no hope for others owning a house, running a car etc according to you. The wage progression for doctors is astronomical, their money goes up and up, by the time they finish they should be millionaires over and over and they also have huge pensions. For them to try and get more money out of the state when their overall package over the years is extremely good is imo a poor show, I must say they have gone down a lot in my estimation. |

The story was in the Liverpool Echo, another drug story, Liverpool is a cesspit of drugs, if people living up that neck of the woods like you can't see it then there is no hope for the place in getting it sorted. |

Last figures i seen was 2023 for England and 32k was their basic first year money for a doctor in training, they are permanently supervised during that first year, but their average first year pay is 41k when other things are taken into account, then down the line those towards the end of their training are on 71k (depending on their field) , when they have served their time the average pay is 143k a year. |
