Football is a team game and that team doesn’t just include the players on the pitch. The old saying ‘we win together, we lose together’ is true.
Now, the reason for having a captain amongst other things is to motivate the team and ensure they play to their full capacity in every game. Sure, this is not possible every game, they are human after all but the captain should be using whatever technique needed to try and motivate them. That may be a mix of good cop, bad cop but he should know which one. Unfortunately, I see absolutely NOTHING fro Grimes week in week out that tells me he is captaincy material.
I was ‘fortunate’ to go to the Sunderland game last week and after the first two goal and on each occasion the Sunderland captain was seen rallying his troops in a way that said ‘don’t let your heads drop, we can get back into this’. And they did. Grimes failed to do this in the three occasions he had the opportunity to do so!
Also part of the team is the manager. On the MDT yesterday I questioned what pep talk he was going to give his troops and how that would manifest itself in the second half. bsolutely no difference at all which begs the questions:
1. Is he giving a good enough pep talk or capable if doing so?
2. Has he lost the dressing room!
I’m starting to believe the latter may be the case.
TLDR: are Grimes and Williams up to it? |

Right, seen enough. Off to Mumbles for the Christmas get together with some friends. Hope that turns out better.

They’re playing like they don’t give a s**t at the moment and that is very worrying. If LW loses the dressing room (has he maybe?) then we are going only one way. Lots of reason for concern. |

A good reason there why if we can keep one CH, it’s Darling. I think he’s much better than Cabango and that goal may increase interest in him in a few weeks. |

The commentator just mentioned Hull’s formation which clearly comes from a new manager. LW has to now counteract that with a tactical change of his own in the second half. Let’s see. |
