Inoussa’s and Cabango

resulting in Eom, Cabango and Inoussa injured how many other sides have players injured as a result of presason training?

I remebver you were critacl of Saregnt MAjor Duff

Players are gusually given a training programme to follow during the close season so as they dont need a "crash" fitness regime on returning to training.
Amatuer teams may have this as players dont train during their holidays but not so pro players.

It is rported Cabango needs anogther scan intimating he is not comoing back soon Santos injured also so even if we get loanee CBwe will have no cover in the event of an injury surely we should be working on a sytem less reliant on 2 centre backs
If only we could have kept Naughton for another year

SO why not be more creastive an dgo 3 at the back with maybe 4 or 5 in midfield play to players strengths rather than get players to fit a preferred system

Especially twice as a CB a round peg in a square hole fits but dsoesnt fill the slot
ptevious managers were slated for using players out of position.

my concern is Sheehan kows Cabango is now a doubt for several weeks, Santos is injured and rather than try to find a syatem utislising the remaining players strengths he is tryimg to make Fulton a CB to keep his favoured set up of 4 -3 -3

Maybe we should be going 3- 1- 4-3 2
Key Burgess and Tymon at the back with Fulton sitting in ~Front of them then Franco Gilbraith ,Widell and Cullen with Ronald and Vip up top

Yes its not the end of the world but for me the fact we threw so many youngsters on as the article says was a mistake.
What use is that....surely it is better to see how certain youngsters fit alongside the "senior" players playing to the plan and system....questions there about someones thinking.
Hopefully this will ground some of our fanbase who jabe been sure of automatic promotion or the playoffs.
Not sayimg it couldnt happen but realistically despite the best window in a long while we still have some work to do....we are weak in defensive cover, and cover for midfield creativity and seem still to have no answer up front.
Patience something we fans often lack is needed..as the squad gels and Sheehan continues on his leaening path...he is now a full time number 1 for the first time a liitle different to being no 2 or interim.

maybe he was focused on promotion as thats what he was briefed to do only for those owners to give him two players who had hardly played due to injury issues ,two players from the MLS much inferior to the standars of the Championship.
In fairness Cooper got us close to returning to rhe PL twice the only manager since relegation to do so...amd then his his third season of management took a side who were im the relegarion zone to promotiion . That was a while ago we have had 3 managers since and neither got us as close as Cooper.
Its time we moved on....

In certain areas yes we are lacking in FB cover and though we have quantity in midfield we are yet to see how the newcomers will adjust to the Championship.
Last season Sheehan had the quality of O Brien to add to a "settled" side which had played half a seaaon in rhe championship...Eom and Ronald in their second seasons.
I think we can do well but there will be a steep learning curve for some lets hop its not too steep.
I believe we have better foundations than we have for a while all around the club but still dont feel we will be doing as well as many have predicted...but as I said earlier I hope to be proven wrong.

Tend to agree,I understand though given the positivity as a result of our early dealings and potential of the signings.
That said as we know the Championship is a tough league and again we will compete against 3 relegated sides with parachute payments...and some other strong sides.
As you say a lot depends on how long it takes the side to gel and how quickly the likes of Widell,Galbraith,Scotland and Inoussa settle into the Championship like you I do hope im eating my words come May but for me its far too soon to be making bokd predictions despite being the most optimistic I have been pre season for a long while
