From Google so no idea if true? "Roughly speaking a country mile is 10 furlongs (2200 yards) whereas a mile is 8 furlongs (1760 yards). The country mile is also called the Old English Mile, and the present mile has been called the Statute Mile or London Mile. Formerly the definition of a mile varied around the counties." I do know that in the back end of Kent, there is no straight line between two points a mile apart and you'd walk two miles around twisting roads to do it. |

For those without Paramount + , I see BBC iPlayer has series 1 of Twisted Metal available. Based on the video game and set in dystopian US it's really well made with some great characters. |

Cheap job lot that no one else wanted off a mush in Shepherds Bush. |

For fans of Slow Horses series 5 starts next Wednesday 24th. Mick Herron has written several other books, not read them but one Down Cemetry Road starring Ruth Wilson is also on Apple 29 October. Just binge watched Twisted Metal on Paramount what a ride. |

You could see enough hops in the bitter Oh and I meant the Rising Sun. |

Ah, more hops in Ben Truman. My local, The Riding Sun in Harlesden Road, was a Truman's pub. Always got well over the pint for a light and bitter or Ben and bitter on pay day. Four pints plus change from a ten bob note. |

Started reading Mick Heron’s Slow Horses series, didn’t think it would improve the excellent TV series but it does. Only another 5 books to go. He has written several other series as well which I will try. |

Nah, wasn't that bad it was only 6 goals. Any road welcome to a much needed midfield player. |

If you like French mystery/crime dramas try Black Spot on Netflix. Very dark and mysterious set in an isolated town in a forested area in deepest France. There are 3 series and the characters and acting are very good. Especially if you like being immersed in France for an hour. |

So relevant today how things don't change. R.I.P. Ray and Carol White. |

First team I followed was Spurs in the days of Danny Blanchflower/Dave Mackay. LT ran a football special from Willesden bus garage to White Hart Lane. It was only a shilling for children and a tanner to get in the stadium. It was more a day out with mates to watch football so wasn't to fussed when the LT stopped running the special. Apart from the odd England game at Wembley we rather preferred playing football in King Eddies park than watching it, until a friend suggested going to see the Rs at White City. Had no idea who they were or who they were playing. Two of us sat opposite about a couple of thousand supporters in this large soulless 100,000 plus empty stadium. It wasn't until the Rs returned to Loftus Road I started going regularly, becoming completely hooked in the 60s with that team under Stock. Fantastic football especially Marsh who could take your breath away with his tricks and goals. Great days and been with them ever since. |

Man comes home to find his mate shagging is wife, so stabs the fecker to death. His wife says "carry on like that and you'll have no mates left". |

Sad, RIP indeed. Gordon Jago was the one who stabilised the team and brought success after the mess of managers following Alec Stock. I often wonder if we had gone on to win the league if he had still been here instead of Sexton. Who knows? |

Yup up to episode 6. I see series 5 of Slow Horses is coming on 24 September. We don’t half make good crime/spy series, as do the French and Scandis. |

Good so far, only watched a couple of episodes. Saw the original Danish series a few years ago on the Beeb 4 Saturday night Scandi slot. It was a lot darker. |
