You have to remember the predicament we were in. That six figure fee probably allowed us to crawl over the line to give us enough time to seal the Ogden deal. I seem to remember at an EGM a while back, it was said it was due to the fact we lost our elite academy status we couldn’t sign him. |

Indeed many of the signatures for the meeting had voted for the trust director. The meeting was to discuss the need for a director and if so clarification on their role. |

Brief summary there were discussions around the role of a trust director and why it was needed. It was felt the vote for a director should be upheld but there needed to be more detail on the role. |

Just a reminder that tomorrow there is a trust EGM in dale bar from 11:00am. It seems that there has been no reminder sent out or posted on the trust website. The purpose of the meeting is as follows: “In collaboration with the Dale Trust and its membership, to review the need for a trust director on the main board given the creation of CAB, the election criteria, and if required clarification on how the role will operate.” |

100% that’s it. That was hills and flicker’s blue print and what gave us the success over the years. Get young talented players give them the opportunity to flourish. Sell them on with a ‘sell on’ clause and repeat with the next scouted player. No reason why you can’t do the academy too, but those players are more for progression to the first team, but if you get a diamond you can sell on so much the better. [Post edited 10 Jul 9:06]

To update those on here who have been in contact. Today, the application for a special meeting of the Trust was emailed to the Trust board. This letter has been supported by 3 founder members, 4 ex Chairs and a number of former Trust board members. Although we understand that the Trust Model Rules require the request to be sent as a hard copy to Holyoake House, Hanover St., Manchester, we hope that common sense prevails and an electronic application is accepted, particularly given that the rules have not been revisited since 2018. Emphasis has been placed on the non-confrontational approach from this group. We now hope to hear from the Trust, giving at least 14 clear days notice of the meeting date, that meeting date being no later than 12th July. We have also asked for the nomination process be paused while the meeting takes place. |

Thanks to everyone who has put their name down, it’s encouraging people want to get involved. It’s all to easy to say I won’t bother with the trust, but the passed has shown us it’s important and engagement is a good thing. Another 5 names and the threshold would be hit. Please put your name forward if you haven’t already |

The CAB model could very well be a regulatory requirement very soon and trusts up and down the country will be looking how the address this. We should be thankful we have a board with the foresight to implement it, and with the trust give two spaces it should be embraced. It gives vehicle to formally engage with the board, without relying on them playing lip service, something previous boards in recent years were sometimes guilty. It also releases the trust director from the added complication of confidentiality. They can take their place in the boardroom to help knowing that scrutiny and due diligence is being done by others. If the trust director role is being offered by the Ogdens should the trust not ask what they want they would want, in order to get the most out of it? The best of both worlds, scrutiny, influence and engagement, as well as long term security with the golden share. And it answer to sandymans point of not letting our guard down, the trust director being at the table can observe, and ensure the CAB are getting the correct picture. That’s even more of an incentive for members to engage with the trust and vice versa. [Post edited 29 May 0:30]

5% of the adult membership would trigger a meeting. Based on the fact 684 votes were sent out for the director vote I would say that’s a good yard stick for the number adult members. That’s 35 members that need to sign. If it can get 40 that would be equivalent of 800 members. |
