We Had Joy, We Had Fun....

Spermott Numbnuts already paying a visit to planet Offhishead, pays your money takes your choice, it is time to reflect on what has been and what might be.

Many a furrowed brow at the start of the season as transfer target after transfer target chose not to attend our Chairman's very own Pol Phot school of Football Chairmanship and we were left with only 3 signings. Of these OTJ clearly has the stamp to go on to bigger and better things and he has the size and stature to be a jack legend. Bayo of course for him to go onto bigger and better things is for him to get a 12 pack of penguins instead of the current 6 at Lidl's(unless of course there's a BOGOF promotion and thus saving money), this of course would be KJ's approach. KJ is, too spending money, what Howard Hughes was to philanthropy. Finally Freezer I do hope he doesn't become a Fisken but I have a feeling that his time will come when the pitches start to have a little bit of give in them again.

No one can possibly imagine that in August that we would sit at our Xmas dinner tables and be proudly at the top, but that is where we deservedly are, nothing is won yet but the opportunities are there for all to see.

Many doubted these players (not I said the wolf) at the very start of the season I said that there were no terrors in this League and there aren't any so now its time to finish the excellent job that has been started.

No one can be sad about some of the football that the squad has played and when you look at the two recent goals against Scunny at home both full of quality and precision and pace, Swansea Football is back and don't you just love it. I recently took a mate to the Chesterfield game he was bowled over with what we have here, he would love it to happen at Swindon but they are at least 5 years behind us!!!.

I said at the start of the campaign that the most important player this year would be Big Willy and I think its fair to say he has not been as commanding as last but he has saved us points so have to say its a 60/40 in his favour so far.

Of the defenders surely Tate and Izzy have excelled both have faults but in my view have been outstanding and Tate having now decided to start playing rather than believe in his own ego is turning into a very classy player. Tony Adams was considered a donkey up to the age of 28 defenders develop with age, in these two we can develop something.Ricketts has played to many games and has looked jaded at times but is fast getting back to where he was last year. That's all I want now is for Monk to get fully fit and have a couple of commanding games to reassure his own composure and its almost complete.

Midfield has been a revelation (my fave book of the bible) for me, as on numerous occasions they have ripped sides apart there is a lovely mixture of guile, and pace and genuine ingenuity and utter doggedness.

LEON has been superb this year and his new contract awaits signing. Martinez (yes he who brings about viewpoints of being a target of Spit The Dog or The New(ish) Messiah depending on your side of the fence has been excellent whilst OTJ and latterly Robinson have added new depths to an emerging force. The side has confidence now and the neutral observers have noticed this and the type of football being played. We are serious contenders now and everyone knows it.

Up front of course, well its him and Bayo leading the way, excellent partnership in my not so very humble opinion and anyone disagrees well.... na na na na na na. This of course has to be supplemented to in the New Year and I really do hope that KJ doesn't wait for January sales and goes out and makes a big bold statement, if rumours are to be believed we can attract any player in the bottom two leagues and even established Championship players might be tempted to Gods Own!

So is or isn't he well who cares, whatever will be will be. I do expect 3 possibly 4 signings in January the money is there! a Full Back, Centre Half, Centre Midfield and a 15/20 goal striker please Mr Jackett don't be shy in spending your Green Shield stamps oh and a couple of up and comings will do nicely as well please.

A good fixture list in January means that we should have every reason to progress and stretch away from the rest. The crowd is there (West is Best), The Stadium is here, The Manager is here and with several astute signings then Championship football is a real possibility.

Time for those making the decisions to be brave, time to grasp the nettle. Toshack once said ' dont wait for tomorrow grab the chance today' time for the squad to stand up and with new team mates in hand can take this League by the scruff and take us to where we belong.

Some of the squad have yet to see the Jack Army in the home straight of a successful season and the next 2 away games will give them a taster of what we are.

To end on a personal note this year has seen me meet many notables of this board(most of them much maligned but all of them utterly loveable and warm and more importantly kind) to those that know THANK YOU. To those I have yet had the pleasure to meet see ya in the Championship (cross fingers)

Who are we
