Loanee striker Shamir Fenelon has returned to Brighton just a month or so into his season long loan at Spotland after the move was deemed to be unsuccessful.

It's been reported in the Brighton media that Fenelon is back with Brighton with the loan deal cut short. His time at Spotland had seen him make just four sub appearances for the club in the League - less game time than he was getting with the Seagull, and as such a decision has bee take to end the loan deal.

Brighton's Head of Footballing Operations David Burke blamed it on the success shown by Keith Hill's men since the loan deal was agreed He was quoted as saying "On the back of a good pre-season we had a number of league clubs enquire about Sham but unfortunately the move to Rochdale hasn’t proven as fruitful as we would have wanted.

“This is not down to Shamir. He has merely fallen victim to a side that are not only winning games and on good form, but also scoring a lot of goals, so it is hard to break into a successful team."

Fenelon's departure will provide an opportunity to Summer signing Jack Muldoon who made his Dale debut in the JPT exit on Tuesday.
