Poole
came to Spotland in the second half of the 2006-7 season, coming on loan
from Conference side Grays Athletic. The move was with a view to a
permanent deal after spending all of his career playing outside of the
Football League. He only
made on start for the club, with a further five appearances coming off
the bench. He did alright, without overly impressing, but certainly
looked like he could handle the step up from the Conference.
Without doubt, Poole's lasting
memory as a Dale player will stem from his appearance as a sub in the
final game of the season in May 2007. At the final whistle, he was
attacked by a pitch invading Peterborough supporter. Thankfully, despite
being a bit shook up, he was uninjured.
Poole's time at Dale came to an end
as his loan expired. He did enough to impress Dale boss Keith Hill into
offering him a contract, but he decided to stick to his native South and
took up a two year contract with Brentford.
