Everton Are Told By Southampton The Price For Tyler Dibling
Wednesday, 28th May 2025 13:52

After relegation to the Championship it is natural that several of the Saints squad is in demand, and as club come knocking at the door, they are being quoted the price to pay and the Toffee's have found out what it takes to get Tyler Dibling.

Saints are in no hurry to sell Tyler Dibling the youngster is on a 3 year deal that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2026, but there is an option for Southampton to keep him for another year after that.

Dibling himself seems to be in no hurry to leave, he is focused on his career not money and although he is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract which is on the table, sources have revealed in the past that he and his family want him to stay, but his agent has pushed him into not putting pen to paper yet.

But that has not stopped the rumour mill and the latest news is that Everton want to add him to their roster, according to Sky Sports News on the TV, Everton's new owners the Friedkin Group are looking to make "statement signings" at the club this season, following similar money being thrown at AC Roma whom they also own.

The report goes on to claim that Southampton have named the starting price for Dibling and it's £55 million, a fee set to deter potential suitors as well as keep Dibling a Saints player, at worst it would start an auction for the player, which can only be in Saints favour.

Whether Dibling is seriously on the Toffee's radar is another matter, they are being linked with former player Richarlison and are also in contract talks with former Saints star Charly Alcaraz, who has spent the last few months at Goodison Park and is said to be in talks about whether he want to move to the club who are keen to exercise their option to buy him.

Saints originally bought Alcaraz from Racing Club for around £11 million back in January 2023, they recouped some of that money after Juventus paid a loan fee of around £3 million for the second half of the 23/24 season and then sold him to Flamenco in Brazil for around £16 million, a tidy profit on the player.

It is going to be silly season at St Mary's and there will be a clear out, several players are nailed on to follow Kyle Walker Peters out of the door and there are then over a dozen squad members who could well be doing with moving on.

A tidy profit, sums up the Southampton mindset. He was a class player if Martin had half a brain he,d have played him more and he would have been an asset this year and who knows where his goals would have taken us.

Those who said Livramento's fee was "too much" can now see that Newcastle " made a real killing " in buying him for a measly £32 mill. as we now see he is already England material. Did we have a "sell-on clause " in that deal.. I wonder?

Perhaps a £55million fee for Dibling might only be seen as "openers" for someone who was already attracting attention from Top Six clubs in early season. If that is the case, then we ought to be looking for a good profit, and IF ..the 20 y.o. Fernandes also goes, then he shouldn't be allowed to go " cheaply" as he was well worthy as our Player of the Season, during such a disasterous period. We may be sorry to see them go, but the money (if well invested) will make the real difference in a new push for promotion.

Why would anyone want to pay decent money for Dibling ?

His form during the season just passed was at best adequate and at worst poor.

Add in the fact that on occasions he couldn’t even be bothered to warm up properly and you can see that he’s nothing more than a young kid with modest talent and an enormous attitude problem.

This speaks volumes about modern football and rolling sports news. He's had a few decent games for saints months ago Nd already he's a world beater worth tens of millions of pounds. Boring, souless and bshite

Dibling will fulfil his potential, somewhere, probably away from here and we have to hope we get top price + a sell on clause. All football clubs gamble on potential as we did with Fernandes, Livramento etc.. With us though we do it in the knowledge if they succeed we will have to sell on, hopefully, at a big for profit further on but as we all know too well it doesn't always pay off.
Livramento is a prime example of this, as he is now worth more than double the fee Newcastle paid us but we did make a healthy profit at the time. What we do have to do is hope Spors and his team invest any profits from player sales a lot better than the last couple of seasons!
