Southampton Winger Set To Move To France Tuesday, 29th Jul 2025 13:23 Samuel Edozie spent last season in Belgium at Anderlecht and was expected to return for the coming season and sign for Club Brugge, however it seems the move has been hijacked and his destination could be next door in France.
getfootballfrance is reporting that Racing Club De Strasbourg are in talks to take Sam Edozie in a permanent deal.
Edozie who cost Saints 8 million euros when he was signed from Manchester City 3 years ago looks set to join the French club with talks said to be at an advanced stage.
The fee has not been quoted, but I would expect Saints to recover most of the 8 million Euros they acquired Edozie for, that would be a fair return for a player who although hasn't hit the heights that Saints fans would have hoped, did play a decent part in our promotion season in 2023/24.

I,d like to think they would make a profit after a very successful spell with Anderlecht.

I would much rather he stayed & Fraser went. As it will cost more to replace him than we receive?

Not sure about this but it would explain why we are linked with the guy from Palace Along with Rangers of course

Never really got a real chance with Saints, think he could have been more than a bit player.

Tricky situation for teenagers who join the club and then can't nail down a regular starting place in order to justify their fee. Now at 22, Sam still hasn't established himself, which has been tough luck as it has been a tough period - in the reign of 3 managers ( or is it 4). Given the chance I'm sure he will make a career for himself and maybe even return to England with another club in the future..which is also a reminder than we ought to have a juicy sell-on clause in the sale ..just in case.

Wish him all the best. He probably didn't push on and make the impact that he needed to on his loan with Anderlecht to justify a place with Saints, after a so so season in the Championship. Unlikely that he's going to provide the contribution that we need, when you see him compared to Robinson's recent outings. So probably the right decision to move him on and free up space in the squad

Maybe he didn’t want to be here.. I’m not sure this was a good idea, as with the other Sam. With Mara, Strasbourg will have an all Saints front 3. I don’t see Fraser on the wing anymore and Dibling is supposed to be more central attacking midfield so we’re left with one winger, Robinson. For me Diaz and Armstrong are not wingers. Strange move this one, I like Edozie. We surely have plans for better players to come in? Or is it that nobody wants Diaz and Armstrong so we’re stuck with them?

I always felt Edozie was very similar to Nathan Redmond - talented but never showed it consistently enough in a Saints shirt. From the clubs perspective he is probably the most bankable asset in the wide attacking position (aside from Dibling) so the sale helps the club balance the books. I would imagine that if Dibling also goes for the right offer then Arma is staying put. Would still like to see a new player come into that position to compete with Arma as there is no guarantee he can hit the same level as the last season in the Championship.

I disagree we had good value out of Redmond.Ok he maybe did not rech the heights we hoped for but he delivered plenty of quality moments, and did,nt cost a fotune. I,M disappointed we didn,t hang on to Edozie ,i think he,e going to be good.

I'm guessing he was pushing to leave. Who wouldn't! Strasburg is a lovely place to live and enjoy the quality of life in France with friends Sam Amo and Sekou. Playing in the top league in France. No brainer. I think he would have been a bit part player here and Still needs to bring in a couple of his own.

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
