Southampton Set For Yet Another Turkish Transfer Stand Off Tuesday, 5th Aug 2025 12:07 If Trabzonspor were trying to sign Tyler Dibling their opening bid would be about £10 million for a player worth £40 million, as we have found out over the past couple of years, now it seems it's about to happen again as they hover over another Saints player.
Sportwitness Are reporting that the Turkish media are claiming that Trabzonspor are interested in Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap.
Despite having barely played in the last two seasons, either on loan at PSV Eindhoven or last season at St Mary's, Bella-Kotchap who at one time was valued at around 20 million Euros in his first season at Saints, is still got a current value of 9 million Euros according to Transfermarkt
So it is not too surprising that Saints will start the bidding at slightly over that figure at 10 million Euros.
It’s claimed that Trabzonspor have put the Bella-Kotchap at the top of their agenda and it is widely know that Saints are looking to sell as the player enters the last year of his contract.
But as we know from our previous dealings with Trabzonspor, they rarely offer anywhere near the players true valuation and only want to pay peanuts.

So it should be no surprise that their opening offer is said to be 4 million Euros,, less than half his valuation, I can only imagine the looks on the faces of Johannes Spors and our player recruitment team when they saw that this club is once again coming knocking at our door.
Anyone who has been to Turkey will know that you have to haggle for virtually everything that you buy over there and they work on the basis that they can wear you down and eventually you cave in and pay over the top for an article, this is that situation in reverse.
Personally I think we should turn them away and tell the player and his agent that even if we have to sell him to another club for 2 million euros, that we will not deal with them again.

Sports Republic grow a pair. Tell This Poundland football club the price or sell him to one of our own group teams at a silly price. Don't give away a prize jewel. Stand up and be counted.

if its really 4m euros - I say take it, but with full payment upfront and a 50% absolute (ie not just on profit) sell on clause. Got to clear out and this will either get him gone or flush out other parties.

Agree with you (Nick) and kenchilds 70 (above). Tell them them the price we want and not to waste the cost of the phone call unless they are prepared to pay up. If we don't get an offer near the 9..10mill. quoted from someone else, at least we wouldn't get screwed again.

I would just refuse to do any business with them. What is the point? Even if they did offer the right price, they would mess about afterwards anyway and probably not pay on time with UEFA doing nothing about it for ‘political reasons’. Just tell them we’re not interested in doing business with them or mess them about and tell them what goes around comes around afterwards.. gotta play hard ball with these jokers. That said, I’d probably take the 4 million and get him out the door.. he didn’t even want to play for the u-21 team to build fitness and game time, get rid of the clown..

Not sure how much we bought him for, £20 million presumably on a five year deal. He's been with us for three years with two left - so £8 million max if we can move him on this summer. If he goes on loan again his wages will be covered but he'll hang around next season to leave as a free agent. If we can get £6 million euros I'd definitely take it.

The player has done nothing for the club in the last two years except be a drain on resources. While I don’t like the idea of the club selling below market value, in this case I wouldn’t mind an exception being made. He has a poor attitude which Will Still will not want around the dressing room so I say sell him now and let him become the Turks problem.

Id take the 4 million but see if a decent sell on clause can be added. Fringe player whose unlikely to be resigned, might as well save a years salary.
