Dale’s furthest ever away game at Truro City on Saturday will be refereed by RICHIE WATKINS.

The Nuneaton-based official was promoted to the National League list midway through the 2022/23 season and officiated at seven games before the end of that campaign.

He was more active in 2023/24, refereeing 20 matches, including Dale’s trips to Boreham Wood and Bromley.

Last season saw him oversee only six National League fixtures, one of which was Woking v Dale, as well as three in League Two as a member of the new National List.

One of those League Two games was Carlisle v Harrogate, which no doubt makes Mr Watkins the only referee to have officiated at such geographically diverse venues as Carlisle and Truro!

Last Saturday saw his first National League appointment of this term, at the televised Aldershot v Brackley encounter.
