Rumour going round that the new ikea stadium near a bus stop in middx might have big problems allowing fans for the coming season (if we are allowed of course) as we all have been told its brand new made up of off cuts from the ikea cat from 2002 , what it seems it dosnt have is a safety cert , As i say this is a rumour but how funny would that be after the bitter dissapointment of them not showing up as wembley recenrtly nobody will be allowed to even enter the ikea stadium until they have one ,

think they have to stage 3/4 events leading to full capacity event before they are given a saftey cert and of course that cant happen in the present climate

The original planning application was for 20,000 seated fans plus 1,500 in corporate seats.
Sorry it might be a new ground but it looks hideous. The size of the stand is limited by the lack of sunlight into the flats. No daylight equals lower prices. The lack of uniformity is why it looks like being made from leftovers. The stadium was never the prime concern for the developers.

The fact that Capital Court insisted on going to a Valuation Tribunal which eventually awarded them LESS than Bees had originally offered might suggest they and QPR are indeed connected.

Still caused a 3 year delay didn't it? Think of all that extra revenue missed from the corporate types(which a swathe of the ground is dedicated to)

Not true - it was never more than 20k (inclusive), for even if they could physically have squeezed in more, which they couldn't, they'd never have got Planning Permission, or H&S clearance.

And the original plan to accommodate an extra 2,750 (to take us up to 20k) would have necessitated adding an extra tier to one of the stands.
However, the extra capacity did not justify the extra build cost, esp when they added extra Premium seats instead.

The point being that if they were considering an extra tier, then the light-for-flats argument can't really have applied.

As for the design aesthetic etc, once they'd put a standard sized football pitch in (pretty important to the whole scheme, I'd have thought), there simply wasn't physical space to build in the corners (due to railway lines), which dictated the eventual design.

Still, one man's "hideous" is another's "distinctive". For myself, I'm more concerned by how things look inside the stadium than from the outside, in particular whether I have an unrestricted view of the pitch, from a seat which isn't impossibly cramped.

Which is not something you get at every ground.

Not sure it was quite that long - and aiui there were other delaying factors concurrently.

Either way, considering the whole project (unavoidably) took well over a decade from the original identification of the site, and most stadia these days are expected to have a useful life of 50 years+, I daresay we can live with it.

Such is life.

The lighting factor was nothing to do with the flats. At Planning it was 3 or 4 existing houses down Green Dragon Lane that were considered and dealt with. This did not delay anything at all as the plans were passed through with no changes required. I was at that final planning meeting. There were no objections at all to the new Stadium just some over the flats spoiling the view from Kew Gardens and concern over extra traffic. Again these were not considered material and the plans were voted through with full permission requiring no changes.

Look at the original planning application. The capacity was cut to include more exclusive areas.

Newbee is correct. The original total capacity was 20,000 inclusive of the premium seating. The cut to 17,250 was made by scrapping the 2nd tier to the North Stand which was considered too expensive to build compared to the return it would generate. There might also have been some changes made to the South Stand to create more premium seating but to the best of my knowledge this did not affect the total capacity to any material extent if at all. At the same time the original plan assumed a hospitality and conferencing business would be incorporated and run by The Club from within the South Stand. All plans for this were scrapped and the design changed as it was deemed too risky due to much competition in this area run by experts whilst we are a football club.

Read the first post again.

We (Bees) did not "come on here crowing etc" about anything.

Rather it was one of your lot, Wombat, who opened a thread to take the piss from Bees' new stadium. And even there I'm sure we would have ignored it as all part of the usual forum banter etc, had his posts not repeated a whole load of crap, including clearly factually incorrecxt claims, which he could easily have checked.

Moreover, Manzi, SC and myself refrained from even mentioning, never mind comparing, our LR with your LR in our replies.

But if ever I am up for a competition to see how high we can all piss up against the wall etc, I'm sure the toilets at Lionel Road will provide a more salubrious setting for it than those at Loftus Road.

There's a Preston supporter on youtube that after looking at the pictures and sketches has voted it the third worse ground in the league

If we have gotten any left over space or piss hole (pun intended) and throw some money in it we could have had it built, but no we are more ambitious than that

That's it, I'm totally devastated. Just torn up my season ticket and booked myself into a clinic.

I mean, a PNE supporter.

On YouTube.

"Third worse" [sic].

Just devastated...

'Wombat' will be relieved to know that the new stadium has now got it's Safety Cert, in good time for the new season:

And it seems that if/when limited numbers of fans are allowed in, this will serve as Test Events towards full capacity matches.

So panic over, chaps.

Beautiful, innit!

No it’s not beautiful. From the moment I saw the design which was confirmed by the final build I thought it was a hideous piece of shît of a ground. Hemmed in by railway lines and the M4 elevated section and on the flight path to Heathrow. All I can say is enjoy breathing in all that toxic air. Looks like you mugs will be having to use face masks long after the rest of us.

How does "None of us give a flying to%% about Brentford" tie in with your opening a thread, entirely unprompted, on (ahem) Brentford?

And then keeping coming back to it along with other QPR fans to add further comments? (Though I appreciate you at least don't waste any extra time over grammar, punctuation, spelling and basic literacy).

As for posting on our "own" forum, it's not an either/or, or has no-one ever told you it is possible to post on both?

Finally, the 25% capacity (or whatever) games WILL serve as the necessary test events. To compliment the Safety Certificate which you predicted we wouldn't/couldn't get.

Here’s a radical thought : if everybody just ignores the BFC lot who post on here maybe they will just go away, like the annoying child that keeps tugging at your trousers for attention . Their own forum must be as dull as ditchwater for them to spend so much time on here . Responding just gives them more oxygen and another cause to jerk all over their keyboard when they get a response from one of us .Ignore them and maybe they will go away . Toodle pip indeed .
